Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2797 A Worthy Fight

”Oh? A variant, huh...”

Davis appeared intrigued, guessing that since he was sent to a battle that relies on the soul, his prowess should be focused on his Soul Forging Cultivation.

”Well, he was once mockingly titled the Lethargic Starlight Jade Wolf, ranked at the bottom in the younger generation of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan.”

”It was said that he was always a weak Starlight Jade Wolf who was unable to physically match prowess with the other Starlight Jade Wolves of the same generation, even female ones, and always looked lazy and inattentive, getting him bullied and thrashed around. Even his own family elders had abandoned him.”

”However, it all changed when his dormant bloodline awakened a few years ago, patching up his deformities and reforming him into a daring and focused individual who made a name for himself in the borders of our Prefecture, so not many outsiders know about him.”

”Indeed, this made Raelzar a variant Starlight Jade Wolf whose focus was on the soul and body instead of body and soul like every Starlight Jade Wolf or an immortal beast usually is...”

”I see.”

Panqa and Lanquaʼs voices echoed by his ears as they both spoke one after another like they were in sync even while talking, causing Davis to feel rather tranquil as their voices sounded soothing and cute.

Still, he was intrigued by how this variant immortal beast could perform as he had also seen another variant immortal beast who was none other than Zora Luan, the female Blue Luan Immortal King Beast who had recruited him into the Aurora Cloud Gate, possessing a prowess that was three levels higher even in the Immortal King Stage, still making her a core disciple there.

Compared to Zora Luan, he wondered how strong Raelzar could be.

”Hmph… Donʼt tell me youʼre looking down on me.”

Yilla Zyrus furrowed her brows as she looked at Raelzar, wondering how she was challenged by such an existence who couldnʼt even be bothered to put some effort to defeat.

”If you think Iʼm not worth your time, then be prepared for a rude awakening.”

Raelzarʼs voice was calm and steady, not seeming offended.

”I donʼt really care if youʼre challenging me or not, but just so you know, I wonʼt show you mercy.”

Yilla Zyrus saw Raelzar, who stood beside the battle platform, and let out a deep sigh as though she was truly disappointed that the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan would send such a weak match against her.

”Let the battle begin!~”

The barrier came up, blocking all four sides as a dark light emerged before becoming transparent.

Raelzar took a deep breath, his features becoming covered in a jade light as his face began to extend into one of a wolfʼs while his body enlarged. However, many people raised their brows as they saw that he was no more than half the size of a Starlight Jade Wolf Immortal Beast, causing them to become more than astonished.

Was he a dwarf variant of the Starlight Jade Wolf Species, concentrating on speed?

However, looking at the soul force emerging from his body, they obviously thought that wasnʼt the case.

”This…”

The jade light transformed into a row of sharp fangs, appearing to surround Yilla Zyrus in an instant.

This move caused her to raise her brows and instantly put up a barrier as she felt a sense of danger envelop her soul.

*Swish!~*

The jade fangs shot towards her, cutting through her darkness barrier like tofu and piercing through her body. However, her body exploded into a wave of darkness energy clouds, filling half the battle stage in an instant as she disappeared.

”Iʼve heard a lot about the Zyrus Familyʼs bloodline that contains the powers of the Ghastly Cloud Immortal Physique, allowing oneself to conceal better and pushing their enemies into a quagmire of darkness that corrupts their soul.”

Raelzar lightly smiled as he spoke, ”However, I wonder how well it does against light energy of equally dense nature.”

At the same time, he narrowed his eyes as he truly couldnʼt find Yilla Zyrus.

She was completely concealed within the dark clouds, appearing like she was capable of fluid movement like a darkness spirit.

”In that case...”

Raelzar raised his head and opened his eyes wide, causing jade light to emerge from the depths of his soul as it covered the area around him in an instant. It was like he summoned a domain, wanting to find Yilla Zyrusʼs presence around him.

”Hmm?”

However, he was astonished to find that he still couldnʼt find her, causing him to furrow his brows.

*Swoosh!~*

Abruptly, a dark spear shot out from the dark clouds, shooting right toward Raelzar with incredible speed.

”So there you are.”

Raelzar swiftly reacted to the attack, even spotting a vague silhouette of Yilla Zyrusʼs figure retreating into the dark clouds. A jade light abruptly emerged within that spot before enlarging into a sphere that suddenly burst, creating a giant pillar of jade light that erased the dark clouds in the spot.

The sound of a pained cry could be heard ever so lightly.

But on the other side, the dark spear swiftly made its way and struck Raelzarʼs elbow, which he used to defend, causing blood to splatter as his limb was sliced off. However, Raelzar acted like he didnʼt care for his well-being, launching another attack without even trying to clear the darkness energy corrupting his wounds.

”You-!”

*Booom!~*

Another pillar of dense jade light erupted within the dark clouds, this time even wider and taller, practically covering the perimeter of the dark clouds.

*Whoosh!~*

But at this moment, a silhouette rushed out of it, revealing itself to be none other than Yilla Zyrus, whose brows were squinted as though she finally started to take him seriously.

”Amazing…! Both of their prowess is four levels above!”

The people witnessing this scene were astonished to see an actual battle take place instead of a one-sided slaughter. They never expected Raelzar to be this strong, and it even seemed like Yilla Zyrus sensed his second attack incoming, intending to leave the dark clouds, which made her become more visible in his domain of jade light.

At a glance, it seemed like the Yilla Zyrus was losing, even appearing to be slightly injured as her right handʼs sleeves were stained with blood, but the one who was taking the most damage was absolutely Raelzar of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan!

Davis was also enjoying this battle with a curious gaze as he weighed Yilla Zyrusʼs concealment technique against his and Raelzarʼs variance compared to a normal Starlight Jade Wolf Immortal Beast.

Still, his gaze was more or less on Yilla Zyrus, not because he fancied but because he remembered her.

In fact, Davis had seen this woman before.

If he were to be exact, she was in Klein Zyrusʼs memories, utterly humiliating him by kicking him in his face for trying to make a devious move against her. Although Klein Zyrus was not caught and she was still safe, their relationship was hostile and could be said to be one of their enemies, the former looking to violate and kill her if given a chance.

She was also none other than the aunt of the Grand Elderʼs granddaughter, whom Klein Zyrus also made a move on and wanted to take advantage of her pure bloodline, but got caught yet was still not punished because of his future prospects, making Yilla Zyrus that Grand Elderʼs sonʼs half-sibling from another mother yet she was really young.

Davis further remembered that she was ninety-nine years old this year and would reach a century in the next year. However, he was also astonished to remember that she was born an immortal yet stayed in the Immortal Stage for ninety-nine years, which made him wonder why, perhaps to just learn dancing or something?

He felt intrigued by this woman. Why was there a need to waste oneʼs prime years when blessed with a pure bloodline and innate immortality?
