Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: The Bond of a ”Sister-Complex”

”Indeed, although they are the children of my enemies, they are all good kids,” Zhou Shichang sighed.

”Especially after your birth, as the only male descendant of the two families, you were born frail, which made me feel like it was heaven’s way of punishing Old Man Liu for me. So, I couldn’t bring myself to be ruthless. But if I just let you all go, I still couldn’t feel at ease.”

”So you arranged for Ye Yu to become my uncle’s adopted son, planning to use him for revenge, right?” Ye Fei spoke on behalf of Zhou Shichang.

Zhou Shichang nodded, ”Yes, but I didn’t expect that person to be so ambitious. He made his own decisions before I even gave the order, and thus exposed a flaw. Minghua guessed that you started to suspect me from that moment, didn’t you?”

”That’s correct,” Ye Fei didn’t deny it.

Zhou Shichang sighed again, ”The biggest surprise was you. We never expected that you would grow up so quickly, so fast that we were caught off guard. And at first, you hid it so well. By the time we realized how formidable you were, it was already impossible to deal with you easily. Even so, we still underestimated you. Why, why did that scoundrel Old Man Liu have such an outstanding descendant like you!”

”Since you knew I wouldn’t be easy to deal with, why did you still go through with all those things later?” Ye Fei asked.

Now he had already seen that even without him, Zhou Shichang wouldn’t have the heart to harm his mother and the others.

But a year ago, they had used such methods, which were much harsher than before. This seemed not in line with Zhou Shichang’s character.

”It’s not about Dad; it was my decision,” this time it was Li Minghua who spoke. ”Originally, he had decided not to bring up the past anymore. It was I who insisted on doing it.”

”Why?” Ye Fei asked. Although he didn’t interact with Li Minghua much and knew she was practically a female Zhuge Liang, Ye Fei could tell that she wasn’t the type of woman to be ruthless.

”She did it to protect Tingting, but ultimately, it was my decision,” Zhou Shichang said, ”Ye Fei, everything was done by me, Zhou Shichang. Today, I am at your mercy. I only hope you can spare them as a family of three.”

Ye Fei looked at Zhou Shichang and was silent for a long while. Suddenly, he said, ”Grandpa Zhou, let’s just forget about the past. Let’s pretend none of this ever happened.”

”What?!” Both Zhou Shichang and Li Minghua were stunned by Ye Fei’s words.

After learning about what happened yesterday, they realized they had greatly underestimated Ye Fei’s power. They had thought that even if Ye Fei knew everything, he wouldn’t be able to do much to them.

But now, even the Number One was supporting Ye Fei. So they had decided to submit, but they never expected Ye Fei to want to resolve the grievances.

”My grandfather did wrong to you, but he has been dead for many years. You also said that we, the descendants, are innocent. And your revenge hasn’t caused us any substantial harm. The only time was when Ye Yu acted on his own, which can’t be blamed on you. So I decided to let bygones be bygones. As long as you can let go of your hatred, we can still be one family,” Ye Fei said more clearly.

Of course, just based on what Ye Fei said, it couldn’t be the reason for him to resolve the feud between the two families.

The real reason was still because of his mother and the others. He knew that they would never bear to harm Grandpa Zhou. If he dealt with the other side, they would feel very distressed. So Ye Fei easily brushed aside this grudge.

Moreover, Ye Fei could see that Grandpa Zhou loved his sister, and it was not just the kind of love between siblings.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have remained unmarried all his life just to take care of his sister’s child.

This was something that even Grandpa Zhou himself might not have realized, but as a seasoned ”sister-complex” person, Ye Fei was very keen to notice it.

Putting himself in Grandpa Zhou’s shoes, if there were a man who treated Ye Fei’s younger sister Ye Yunqi like that, Ye Fei would retaliate much more fiercely than Grandpa Zhou.

So he could understand Grandpa Zhou’s feelings and easily forgave him.

This could also be considered a mutual understanding between two people with a ”sister-complex.”

Grandpa Zhou, of course, had no idea what Ye Fei was thinking. After hearing Ye Fei’s words, his mood became extremely complicated. Originally, he thought he was doomed this time, but he didn’t expect Ye Fei to let him go so easily.

After going through a life-and-death experience, although Grandpa Zhou’s hatred for Liu Mingxuan still hadn’t dissipated, the idea of taking revenge on his family was completely gone.

Just as Ye Fei said, no matter how detestable Liu Mingxuan was, he had been dead for a long time.

There is a saying that ”death is like the extinguishing of a lamp,” and everything ceases to exist. Moreover, he had that kind of affection for Liu Yiru and the others as if they were his daughters.

Even without Ye Fei, he would never have the heart to take revenge on them again.

”I have no problem with that, but I’m not sure if Yiru and the others can forgive me.” After a moment of silence, Grandpa Zhou said with some concern, ”After all, we almost ruined her reputation.”

”Don’t worry, what I just said is exactly what my mom and the others think,” Ye Fei said, satisfied that Grandpa Zhou was considering the feelings of his mother and the others.

Perhaps it was because of his very emotional character that Ye Fei didn’t object to letting them go from the bottom of his heart.

Hearing Ye Fei’s words, Grandpa Zhou was stunned for a moment, then suddenly sighed deeply, his face showing a look of regret. As an elder, after knowing Liu Yiru and the others’ decision, he felt very ashamed. After all, he had used such vicious methods against them before.

All three of them were the kind of people who could let go of the past.

Now that they had decided to put the grievances behind them, they no longer dwelt on the past.

The atmosphere quickly became harmonious and joyful.

Only Li Minghua seemed to have something she wanted to say, but held back. But until they left the study, she didn’t say anything.

In the hall, Zhou Tingting had already been waiting impatiently. Waiting with her was Zhou Bo, who had come back at noon.

As a soldier, he didn’t have as many concerns as Li Minghua and had no idea about the grievances between the two families. Seeing Ye Fei, he immediately greeted him warmly.

It was already lunchtime. After the dishes were laid on the table, Grandpa Zhou dismissed the outsiders and then said, ”Before we eat, I have something very important to announce.”

Ye Fei and Li Minghua naturally knew what Grandpa Zhou was going to say, but Zhou Bo and Zhou Tingting didn’t, so they both looked at Grandpa Zhou expectantly. Zhou Tingting was especially excited.

The cheerful girl thought that her grandfather was going to encourage her to date Ye Fei.
