Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1422: Chapter 1422: Backing Down and Showing Off

When Ye Fei arrived in the capital, his first stop was the Li family, the same clan that had previously collaborated with his film company and held the copyright to the new drama.

Over the past half month, Ye Fei had taken the time to learn a bit more about this family and finally understood why a family based so far away in the capital would partner with his company.

The Li family was a major player in the entertainment industry, with the family head serving as a deputy minister in the Ministry of Culture, and the family itself controlling the country’s largest entertainment company.

The sudden success of Lingyun Film Company’s movie, with numerous award nominations and the potential to win, had made the Li family restless.

They immediately initiated a partnership with Lingyun, partly because Ye Fei’s influence still lingered. Otherwise, Situ Ying and the others might have faced coercion to dissolve their company and join the Li family.

To ordinary people or entertainment stars, the Li family was an untouchable giant.

But in the capital, they were merely a second-tier family, not even matching the once-declining Song family.

Yet, this fact only made Ye Fei angrier.

A family he didn’t even consider significant dared to come to his turf and act superior.

It was clear how much his mother and the others had suffered over the past year, even if they had endured it on purpose.

For Ye Fei, even the mere thought of harming his family was unforgivable.

Ye Fei hailed a cab and arrived outside the Li family’s villa. He simply stated his name, and the guard immediately and respectfully ushered him in, without even notifying anyone. Soon, Ye Fei was face to face with the head of the Li family.

”Mr. Ye, your presence is an honor. I apologize for not greeting you sooner,” the entertainment tycoon said, bowing deeply.

In the industry, his word was law; he could make or break a star’s career with a single sentence.

With female stars, whether they were newcomers or top-tier celebrities, he could sleep with whoever he wanted.

But in front of Ye Fei, he was more deferential than a grandson in front of his grandfather, maintaining a sixty-degree bow. In his eyes, Ye Fei saw not only fear but also a hint of relief.

The day that the young heartthrob died, the Li family head had already received the news. Despite considering the star insignificant, the deceased had been a significant cash cow for him.

So, he had planned to pressure the local authorities in Wanghai. However, before he could act, he heard that the Lingyun Society was making a comeback.

This news made him break into a cold sweat, but also secretly relieved him—wasn’t the Lingyun Society’s high-profile return a sign that Ye Fei, who had been silent for over a year, was back?

Upon making this guess, the Li family head’s first instinct was to go to Wanghai and apologize to Ye Fei in person. But he ultimately didn’t go.

Ye Fei hadn’t made a public appearance yet, and he feared that showing up unannounced might provoke Ye Fei.

Moreover, his base was in the capital. If he went to Wanghai, he would have no room to maneuver.

But if Ye Fei came to the capital, he could at least try to take the initiative and prevent Ye Fei from striking him down.

As for using connections to overpower Ye Fei, he didn’t even dare to think about it.

For the past half month, the Li family head had been living in constant anxiety.

To ensure that Ye Fei could find him quickly and perhaps reduce his anger, he had been on ”medical leave.” But Ye Fei never came, increasing his unease.

Now that Ye Fei had finally arrived, regardless of the outcome, at least there would be a resolution today, which brought him some relief.

The rest was straightforward. Before Ye Fei could say anything, the Li family head bowed deeply, apologized profusely, and even slapped himself, thoroughly acknowledging his mistake.

He then voluntarily handed over the copyright documents, transferring them back.

Finally, he took the initiative to ensure that no matter what kind of film Ye Fei’s company produced in the future, he would ensure unconditional approval from the authorities.

Ye Fei was quite satisfied with this outcome, so he saw no need to further trouble the other party.

He knew that this Li fellow was no good, but as the saying goes, ”All crows are black.” If he dealt with this Li today, another Zhao, Qian, or Sun would come tomorrow. He couldn’t possibly keep an eye on this all the time.

After leaving the Li family villa, Ye Fei thought for a moment and decided to visit Li Canghai first to share some good news. More importantly, he wanted to see the two beauties, Li Ruonan and Jia Jingwen.

However, before Ye Fei could leave the villa complex and reach a place where he could hail a taxi, three black sedans sped towards him.

Two of them stopped about ten meters away, while the one in the middle came right up to him, stopping abruptly less than half a meter away.

Then, a young man in his twenties got out of the car, looking down his nose and snorting, ”You’re Ye Fei?”

”Who are you?” Ye Fei countered, sizing up the young man. He was somewhat handsome, but his arrogant expression was extremely off-putting.

His gaze towards Ye Fei was filled with disdain, yet there was a hint of envy, which shocked Ye Fei. He couldn’t fathom what kind of mindset would allow someone to display such contradictory looks.

”Who I am doesn’t matter. The boss wants to see you. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll come with me quietly!” the young man said aggressively.

Ye Fei furrowed his brow slightly, wondering if there was another formidable boss in the capital besides Li Canghai. The young man in front of him, though young, was no slouch in cultivation. By Earth’s standards, he was a great adept.

Seeing that Ye Fei wasn’t speaking, the young man became even more arrogant, ”I’ll count to three. Get in the car obediently, or I won’t mind having you go there lying down!”

”What makes you think you’re anything?” Ye Fei finally spoke, his tone genuinely disdainful.

He had just met a Li family head who was completely cowering, and now he was faced with this incredibly arrogant guy. Ye Fei really couldn’t figure out what gave him the nerve.
