Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1403: Chapter 1403: The Aunt’s Complaint

Ye Fei was taken aback and asked, ”What do you mean? Is the show that bad?”

”Shadow Sister’s script could never be bad!” Xu Weier retorted indignantly before continuing, ”It’s just that one rotten apple spoils the whole barrel. The male lead is so bad that he’s going to drag Shadow Sister and me into criticism, too.”

”Is it that bad?” Ye Fei was puzzled. Although he didn’t pay much attention to such things, he knew that the domestic audience’s standards were not high.

As long as the plot was passable and the actors weren’t too bad, people would buy it. Moreover, this was Situ Ying’s script, and with Xu Weier, a super idol and a powerhouse, holding up the show, it should at least be considered a good piece, right?

”You’ll see for yourself when you get back and watch it,” Xu Weier said.

Since the male lead was now dead, filming for the day was naturally impossible to continue. So, everyone packed up and headed back to the company.

As soon as they got back to the company, Xu Weier immediately pulled Ye Fei into the screening room and showed him a segment of the show that had already been produced.

The girl had a simple mind. Although she had just been a bit distant with Ye Fei, after just a few words, she was back to treating him like a younger brother (deep down inside, she thought of him as an older brother).

”This... Is the investor stupid? This is just someone here to recite lines,” Ye Fei said, dumbfounded, looking at the pretty boy’s performance in the film, which could be described as having no acting skills at all. As for the fact that someone had invested in it, he had already heard a general overview on the way back.

”Recite lines? He can’t even do that!” Xu Weier scornfully curled her lip. ”During filming, this guy was just blabbering nonsense. What you see now is all dubbed.”

”Can’t even remember his lines? Then how did he become famous?” Ye Fei was now completely shocked.

He had thought that the guy he had taken down last year, Xiao Ming, was already pretty bad, but compared to this pretty boy, Xiao Ming was practically an Oscar-worthy actor.

”It’s not that he can’t remember them. If he had to recite the lines, he wouldn’t even be able to maintain that expressionless face. And it’s not just him. Nowadays, all these pretty boys are like this. He’s one of the better ones,” Situ Ying sighed. She truly loved this industry, and seeing the performance of the new generation, how could she not feel helpless?

Ye Fei originally didn’t care about these things, but seeing Situ Ying’s disappointment, he also became concerned and asked, ”But why has it come to this? Are there no young actors with talent left?”

Situ Ying, who was usually very quiet, had a lot to say on this topic. And since she was talking to Ye Fei, whom she had always depended on in her heart, she couldn’t help but pour out her grievances, ”Ultimately, it’s all because of piracy.”

”What do you mean?” Ye Fei asked, not understanding how this was related to piracy.

”Because piracy is rampant now. No matter how good your show is, you can only make money during the first round of broadcasting. After that, it’s the pirates’ world. So now, almost all companies are just thinking about making a quick buck. They put most of their energy into publicity. As for the quality of the show, they don’t care. These pretty boys’ biggest advantage is that their faces are pleasing to the eye, and they can have a good effect in publicity. That’s enough for the producers. That’s why we have this situation now,” Situ Ying explained eloquently.

Even Zhuo Feng’er and Mu Ling, who were standing by, nodded vigorously. They had discussed this issue countless times and just couldn’t change it for the time being.

Now Ye Fei fully understood. The pirates had completely taken advantage of the Chinese people’s mentality of loving to get a bargain.

Supporting the original version is not that difficult. It’s at most the cost of a few packs of cigarettes.

But some people just think that it’s a big loss to spend ten dollars on something that they could get for one dollar, even if they don’t care about those ten dollars. Little do they know that in this way, the producers have no enthusiasm left.

The products become more and more shoddy, and in the end, even those who support the original version have nothing good to watch.

If this continues, there will only be one outcome: the producers will completely give up. Whether you support the original version or piracy, there will be nothing to watch.

Only the pirates will make a fortune by using other people’s works, laughing to themselves and looking down on those who support them.

No matter how smart Ye Fei was, he had no good solution to this problem and could only ask, ”Is there any way to stop this trend?”

”There’s no really good way at the moment. After all, anyone who buys one original copy can make countless copies,” Zhuo Feng’er sighed.

”At most, we can increase the regulatory efforts and crack down on pirates in reality and online, leaving them no room to survive.”

”That’s true. Don’t worry, leave it to me. I’ll find a way to create a bright future for you all!” Ye Fei said confidently.

And shortly, he did take action. However, while fighting against piracy, he also inadvertently offended an extremely despicable person, which almost brought a catastrophe to the entire Earth. But that’s another story for another time.

At this moment, the film was still being screened. To be fair, thanks to the excellent script and Xu Weier’s brilliant performance, even though the male lead was terrible, it was still an extremely good TV drama by current standards.

But Ye Fei and the others were used to high-quality shows from the past, and they really couldn’t bear to watch it. They just turned off the machine and said in unison, ”Let’s reshoot!”

”You shouldn’t have chosen this guy to play in the first place,” Ye Fei said, feeling a bit frustrated. He didn’t understand how Situ Ying could have agreed to let this guy play the male lead.

”There was no way around it. He was designated by the investor. We simply couldn’t replace him,” Zhuo Feng’er said, also feeling frustrated.

Speaking of this, Ye Fei was even more puzzled. After all, he was not short of money now. Just one Ye family was enough, not to mention the huge Qiu Feng Group behind him. If he wanted to make a show, he could fully fund it himself and didn’t need a third party to join.

Faced with Ye Fei’s question, Zhuo Feng’er sighed and said, ”We didn’t want to, but this family is connected to the government. If we don’t let them join, even if the show is great, it might be blocked and never get released.”
