Chapter 303: New Year’s Gift ( 2 )

Yao Zhi was tasked with recording and deciding the amount of gift. The Ling team were responsible for cleaning the crops, and Xi Yi and Xi Si were responsible for packing the gifts.

While they were still washing the crops, Yao Zhi went to the kitchen and bought a total of 50 jars, costing her 25 points. One jar could hold 500 ml of wine. She filled the jars with her apricot wine.

When they were done washing the crops, they dried them with a clean cloth and brought the wine jars out. Besides the crops, she also added some apricots and a small jar of apricot wine.

Most of the gifts were packed in a hemp sack. Only those given to the Village Chief, village elders, and Wang Shen were packed using bamboo baskets.

Yao Zhi taught Xi Yi and Xi Si how to decorate bamboo baskets into beautiful parcels.

It was already in the afternoon when they were done. Since it was already late, she asked them to store the gifts in the woodshed and deliver them tomorrow.

Everyone went to wash up and returned to their rooms to rest. Since they had their fill at lunch, Yao Zhi decided to delay dinner for 2 hours.

While Xi Yi and her children were playing on the bed, Yao Zhi took out 23 leather pouches from her system’s storage.

These pouches were bought before she first hired the Fei Long Escort Agency and were used to hold seasonings. Now, she uses them to hold lucky money.

She was not short of money, so she was generous with her people. These people were her trusted aides, so she decided to give them 10 taels of gold each. For the children, she gave them 1 tael of gold.

She took out 21 10-tael gold ingots and 2 1-tael gold ingots from her system’s storage. Then, she put them into the leather pouches. When she was done, she took 3 pouches and went to bed.

”Xi Yi, this is the lucky money for you,” she said and handed a pouch to her. Then, she gave Xi Si and Xi Qi each a pouch. ”These are for both of you.”

Holding the heavy pouch, Xi Yi asked, ”Master, why did you suddenly give us this?”

”In my hometown, the employer or the family elders will give a red envelope to the employees and the younger generations as lucky money. Since we didn’t have red envelopes, I can only use leather pouches.”

Since it was a blessing from their Master, they didn’t refuse it. ”Thank you, Master.”

After she gave them the lucky money, Yao Zhi carried the rest of the pouches and went to find the Ling team. Like Xi Yi, they were also taken aback to receive the lucky money from her.

By age, they were all older than her. But by position, she was their Master. After they learned about the meaning of the lucky money, they accepted it and said in unison, ”Thank you, Master.”

”Alright. Everyone is tired today. Go get some rest. When dinner is ready, I will call you,” Yao Zhi said and left the room.

The sky had darkened, and she went to the kitchen to prepare the hotpot. She used 3 packs of hotpot soup base and divided it into 3 pots. 2 pots were added with chili oil, while another pot was non-spicy for the children.

While she prepared the hotpot soup, she opened her system’s animal farm and took out 5 kilograms of mutton, 5 kilograms of beef, and 10 kilograms of pork.

Then, she took out 2 fish and some mushrooms. The vegetables were the ones they had just harvested.

She used the automatic management feature to clean and slice the meat. The meat was sliced thinly, perfect for a hotpot. The fish was also filleted and sliced. As for the mushrooms, they were washed and ready for the hotpot.

Besides the meat and vegetables, she also prepared some glass noodles produced in her system’s farmland.

When the soup was ready, it was already 8 o’clock in the evening.

Yao Zhi prepared the charcoal and put it in the braziers. When everything was ready, she called out, ”Shi’er, Shiqi, help me bring the food.”

Soon after, the Ling brothers came over and helped her. With so many people, they only needed 1 trip to bring all the food, pots, and braziers to the room.

They looked at her with doubt when they saw the raw ingredients. Yao Zhi pointed at the ingredients and told them what they were. The moment they heard that there was beef and mutton, everyone was stunned.

Even the royal clan of the Elamu tribes didn’t eat beef or mutton unless the lamb and cattle were sick or too old to work.

Noticing their gazes, Yao Zhi said, ”Don’t worry, I didn’t kill the lamb and cattle illegally. This meat is safe for consumption, and no one will come to arrest me. Eat with ease!”

Hearing this, they nodded and picked up their chopsticks. Yao Zhi taught them how to cook the ingredients and how to mix the sauces. Afterward, she focused on eating and helped Xi Qi cook his food.

Everyone enjoyed the hotpot and only finished when it was near midnight.

Feeling tired, Yao Zhi brushed her teeth and went to sleep, while the rest of them cleaned the table and washed the dishes.

Early in the next morning, Yao Zhi woke up at dawn and went to wash up.

She prepared a lavish meal for her wolf cubs and donkey. Today, she gave them an extra drop of spiritual spring water and increased the portion of the wolf cubs’ meal.

While they ate, she sat beside them and observed the wolf cubs. After a while, she finally noticed what made her wolf cubs look different.

They were no longer as chubby as before. Although their fur and paws were as soft and smooth as before, their bones and muscles had become stronger and sturdier. Their height had also increased, and their weight had doubled.
