My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 334: Chapter 233: First-Class Merit

Damn, everyone was stunned.

How on earth did they do that?

Xu Xuan explained it was the ”masterpiece” of an old master craftsman from the train station. He said the lightning discharge wouldn’t have been nearly as stable without these extreme ice and snow conditions.

All you can say is, every field has its experts. They’d really taken things to a whole new level.

And so, everyone lay in wait, silently anticipating.

If the Exotic Beast was lured over by the brightly lit train station, it would be absolutely unable to resist sampling this ”lightning special.”

For humans, it was unapproachable; getting close meant certain electrocution. But for the Exotic Beast, it was a rare delicacy.

It was far more appealing and delicious than the ”electric spark snacks” it had eaten at the wildlife park.

You have to understand, high-speed rail is a massive consumer of electricity. The Electric Energy stored here was incredibly abundant.

Internet rumors claimed it consumed ten thousand units of electricity per kilometer.

In reality, it wasn’t that exaggerated. Someone had probably confused the concepts of unit time and unit distance.

According to official data, China’s high-speed trains consume an average of about 21.4 kWh of electricity per kilometer. To be specific, a train traveling at 350 km/h uses approximately 9,600 kWh per hour, whereas at 250 km/h, the energy consumption is around 4,800 kWh.

This means that for a journey of about 1,300 kilometers, like from the Imperial Capital to Shanghai, the entire trip at top speed would consume around 50,000 kWh of electricity.

And that was just for a single train on a one-way trip. China has so many high-speed train services; such massive electricity consumption is one reason why some other countries are unable to develop high-speed rail.

Their power generation can’t keep up.

Electric Energy is one of the most important cornerstones of modern industry.

Of course, one had to look at the issue from all angles. Although high-speed rail was a massive consumer of electricity, the social benefits it provided far outweighed the economic costs.

The land was frozen, heavy snow was falling, and a biting wind howled like a razor.

Even Extraordinary Beings like Yao Yao and Zhang Youyou felt the cold. Their strength was relatively weaker, and they were also dressed lightly.

As for Lei Xiaohui, her body was filled with Fire Attribute Spiritual Power, so she was naturally unafraid of the cold.

As for Luo Feifei, it wasn’t that she was immune to the cold—she actually enjoyed it. She felt joyful and comfortable in a world of water, ice, and snow.

Li Xiang, of course, was also unafraid of the cold.

But many of the special police officers’ lips were turning blue from the cold, yet they still held their posts, which was truly commendable.

Many of them had been deployed before dawn to capture wild animals and had been busy until now without a shift change.

These special police officers who had followed them to the train station had all signed non-disclosure agreements. They didn’t know what the mission was; they had been on a detail to capture fierce beasts when they were suddenly redeployed here, armed with live ammunition, to help lie in ambush.

However, no one complained.

Nor did anyone dare make a sound, for fear of revealing their position and scaring off the target.

Of course, many of the special police officers were curious. ’What exactly are we hunting?’

Li Xiang was actually under a lot of pressure. It had been his idea, and it had mobilized a massive force. His superiors had been very cooperative, but if the small Exotic Beast didn’t appear and they failed to catch it, things would get awkward.

Fortunately, though his plan was simple and crude, it was still effective, especially for tricking a little one that had just been born.

Li Xiang’s ears twitched, and Luo Feifei also perked up.

”It’s here. On alert,” Li Xiang whispered into his walkie-talkie. Everyone jolted, instantly growing tense.

But no one moved.

Li Xiang and the other Extraordinary Beings concealed their auras. As for the ordinary humans, even though they remained still, the Exotic Beast could probably smell them. Nevertheless, the little creature was so attracted to the lightning on the train cars that it couldn’t stop itself from transforming into a streak of Black Light and dashing toward them.

Even if it knew people were here, so what? It paid them no mind. ’They’re all just food, but not as delicious as the energy on those train cars. I’ll eat that energy first, then find a suitable human to possess and lie dormant in.’

WHOOSH! With a faint sonic boom, a black shadow shot straight toward the lightning on top of the high-speed train car.

It was incredibly excited; this was so much more potent than the electric fences at the wildlife park.

Li Xiang was the fastest; only he could keep up with the little creature. But as long as it appeared, with Li Xiang’s current strength, there was absolutely no way it could escape.

Li Xiang’s figure flashed, and he appeared beside the little creature. The White Jade Golden Hook Rod shot out, striking towards the little thing.

”SQUEAK SQUEAK!” The extremely ugly little thing shrieked in terror. Only then did everyone see its true form—an indescribable ugliness.

Li Xiang was a Tier Seven Transcendent, possessing Five Mach Extreme Speed and one hundred thousand jin of Giant Power. He had also comprehended Soft Strength, and his Staff Technique was honed to a masterful level. The moment he struck, he sealed off every possible path of escape. The Exotic Beast dodged left and right, but it ultimately couldn’t evade the attack completely and was struck squarely by Li Xiang’s rod.

CLANG!

A sound like metal striking metal rang out. The creature’s head, which seemed to be cast from solid steel, was hit so hard it was left dizzy and disoriented. Its skull deformed and mucus splattered everywhere, but it wasn’t dead. Realizing the danger, it spun around and tried to flee in another direction.

Li Xiang deftly twirled his White Jade Golden Hook Rod, then hooked it around the creature’s tail. He gave a sudden, sharp pull, trying to drag it back.

But its tail detached automatically, and Li Xiang’s hook caught nothing but air. The little creature escaped.

However, it had been heavily injured by Li Xiang and had lost its tail, so its speed was no longer what it once was.
