My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 313: Chapter 223: The Antarctic Ice Wall and a Peculiar Way to Subdue Sharks

In any case, he wasn’t one to stay idle.

The Australian Continent spans about 3,000 kilometers from north to south. At a cruising speed of Mach 2.5, Li Xiang reached its southernmost tip in just an hour.

After crossing the Bass and Banks Straits and passing through Tasmania, he reached an island in the Antarctic Sea. He took a short break before continuing toward Antarctica.

He had to slightly adjust his route, skipping New Zealand because of the time he’d lost back in Indonesia.

The last leg of the journey was just over two thousand kilometers. Carrying Luo Feifei, Li Xiang arrived in a little over forty minutes.

They landed on a small island near the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Ahead, the Antarctic ice wall was visible in the distance.

Luo Feifei’s eyes were full of stars as she cheered for Li Xiang. ”You’re incredible! We got here so fast! And your Endurance is amazing, you know...”

Li Xiang gave a humble smile. ”It was nothing.”

Luo Feifei knew just how to make him feel good. And with such a beautiful girl looking at him with that smoldering, adoring gaze, how could Li Xiang possibly resist?

”SQUAWK-SQUAWK-SQUAWK! AAAH! AAAH! AAAH...”

Just as the two were sharing an intimate moment, a strange and rather funny sound came from beside them. They looked down and—whoa!—a penguin chick was flapping its wings, its head tilted back and beak wide open as it ”roared” at them.

Luo Feifei glanced around and said, ”I think we might be blocking its path.”

Because there was a ”road” where they were standing.

There are no real roads in Antarctica, but when enough penguins use the same route, a path forms, making it easier to walk on.

”Alright, let’s go.” Li Xiang picked up Luo Feifei and once again headed deeper into Antarctica. They were going to climb the Antarctic ice wall.

It was said that there was another world behind the Antarctic ice wall, but no one knew if that was true.

By now, Luo Feifei had changed into a down jacket. It wasn’t because she was cold; it was because in the icy, snowy world of Antarctica, wearing a swimsuit or a light JK skirt would clash with the surroundings, looking out of place and, therefore, not beautiful.

Just in the two days she’d been with Li Xiang, Luo Feifei had already changed her clothes seven or eight times, never wearing the same outfit twice.

Li Xiang thought, ’Her suitcase is probably too small. Otherwise, she would’ve brought a few hundred different outfits with her.’

When he thought of her three-cubic-meter Space Gemstone, Li Xiang figured it might not be enough for her. But it couldn’t be helped; that was the biggest one available right now. He would get her a larger one when he had the chance.

Jiang Cai’Er, by contrast, was much more modest. She had grown up in the mountains, after all—not at all like Luo Feifei, who was born into wealth, became famous young, and had already amassed a nine-figure fortune within a year or two of her debut.

In fact, the walk-in closet in Luo Feifei’s home took up an entire floor. It was divided into sections for hats, shoes, sunglasses, bags, tops, pants, jackets, socks, and so on. Everything was sorted by category, which was then subdivided by season—spring, summer, fall, and winter. It was basically like a large, two- or three-hundred-square-meter department store.

For her, this was also a professional necessity.

A star has to pay attention to their image, don’t they?

”SWOOSH~”

Li Xiang landed with Luo Feifei on the legendary Antarctic ice wall.

This was the southernmost part of Earth, a vast and boundless glacial belt surrounding Antarctica.

Stretching for thousands of kilometers and up to several hundred meters thick, the scenery was endlessly spectacular.

The formation of this ice wall is mainly due to the glaciers and snowfall on Antarctica gradually condensing and accumulating over time. It is a naturally formed geophysical structure, not man-made.

However, many flat-earthers believe that the Earth is actually a giant, flat disc floating in the universe, with the North Pole at the center of this ”frisbee.” And at the outermost edge of the land and oceans, a hundred-meter-high ice wall surrounds the world.

If you were to try to climb that ice wall, a group of unidentified individuals backed by a mysterious power would stop you before you could even make it over.

Even in the 21st century, millions of people still believe the Earth is flat, rejecting the truth that took humanity over two thousand years to prove.

Now, as Li Xiang and Luo Feifei stood atop the Antarctic ice wall and gazed into the distance, they saw nothing but endless glaciers and the vast Southern Ocean—no so-called unknown civilization or parallel world.

They frolicked on the glacier, chasing each other and sparring, practicing their Martial Arts.

They didn’t know how far they had run when a large, luxurious cruise ship suddenly appeared on the ocean. It was full of tourists, obviously. On deck, many of them were pointing at the Antarctic ice wall, and others were taking pictures.

’Actually, Li Xiang had always wanted to visit Antarctica, but he’d heard that even the cheapest ticket for one of these large cruise ships was 35,000—and that was for a last-minute, off-season deal. Factoring in round-trip airfare to Argentina and other miscellaneous costs, you were looking at 60,000, minimum.’

’A slightly better cabin would run you over a hundred thousand per person. And who wants to travel alone? It’s so lonely. You’d want a companion, at least, which would double the cost.’

’Back when I was just a workhorse, where would I have found the money or the time for something like that?’

’But now, I can come whenever I please. And I even have a breathtaking beauty like Luo Feifei for company.’

The two of them lay prone on the high Antarctic ice wall, peeking at the cruise ship and whispering to each other.

They didn’t know, however, that on the ship, someone with binoculars was also observing the mysterious Antarctic ice wall.

Suddenly, the person spotted the two of them on the ice wall and couldn’t help but shout, ”There are people on the ice wall! People on the ice wall! I told you there was a mysterious world up there!”

The people around him were astonished, but many were skeptical.

The man shouted, ”I really saw them! Right over there! If you don’t believe me, come and look!”

He handed the binoculars to a skeptical man and pointed out the direction.

The man looked for a long time, then handed the binoculars back, saying, ”There’s nothing there. Are you seeing things?”

”How can there be nothing? Let me see!” The first man took the binoculars back and took a look. Sure enough, there was nothing. He searched for a long time but couldn’t find a thing.

”They must have left, they must have left! I swear I saw a man and a woman just now.”

No one believed him. Many others took turns with the binoculars, but no one could find anything.

After that, the cruise ship continued toward the Antarctic ice wall, and of course, they still couldn’t find anyone.

Li Xiang and Luo Feifei were long gone.

They were now diving, and Luo Feifei had changed into another swimsuit—a sexy bikini this time. She finally dared to wear something so alluring in front of Li Xiang.

The icy seawater felt pleasantly warm to her; the cold couldn’t touch her.

Naturally, Li Xiang was also unfazed by the cold. He wore a pair of black swimming trunks and let Luo Feifei lead him through the water.

Besides sightseeing in Antarctica, Li Xiang naturally had a mission: to hunt large, ferocious beasts in the sea.

And Antarctica was teeming with all sorts of fearsome creatures: seals, walruses, sperm whales, Blue Whales, humpback whales, killer whales, great white sharks, Antarctic sleeper sharks, sixgill sharks, sea snakes, electric eels, giant Jellyfish, giant squid, toothfish...

With Luo Feifei around, even a whale twenty to thirty meters long and weighing one to two hundred tons could be easily subdued.

Li Xiang’s haul was enormous. He obtained six Extraordinary Spiritual Soldiers of Tier Fifteen or higher, over a dozen between Tier Ten and Tier Fourteen, and more than twenty below Tier Ten. And that’s not to mention all the Spiritual Medicine and Achievement Points he earned.

While hunting sharks, the two discovered something peculiar: if you flipped a shark onto its back, it would immediately go rigid and motionless, as if it had passed out.

After discovering this phenomenon, Li Xiang didn’t even need Luo Feifei’s help to easily subdue sharks.

Ahead, a large shark swam toward them. It was a full seven or eight meters long and approached with menacing speed; this was no friendly creature.

Li Xiang waved his hand, signaling for Luo Feifei to stand down and let him handle it.

So, Luo Feifei beamed and watched from the sidelines.

It was just that, as Li Xiang looked at the large shark, he felt a flicker of doubt. ’Why does it look so much like a great white?’

Its lower body was white and its upper body was blue-gray, just like a great white shark.

’As far as I know, great whites usually prefer tropical or temperate waters. For instance, there was a recent report from New Zealand about great white sightings in the harbor at Waikato. The New Zealand Department of Conservation had even issued a warning, telling people to avoid swimming in the area.’

’But New Zealand is a good one or two thousand kilometers from where we are now.’
