My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 314: Chapter 224: Saint Tier Blue Whale

Little did they know, great white sharks, as apex predators, roam far and wide. It is not unusual for them to chase prey into colder waters, especially those that are ”Alien Species.”

There was no time to think. The great white shark had already charged, seeing them as a tasty little snack.

System: ”Tier Eighteen Mutated Creature, Man-eating Shark, detected.”

From ten meters away, the shark closed the distance in an instant.

Li Xiang was calm and unhurried. He calmly reached out with both hands, one high and one low, and grabbed the shark’s gaping maw. Inside, its sharp teeth were packed as densely as a forest of blades, arranged in six or seven rows.

A more timid person would have been frozen with fear at the sight of that mouth, their hands trembling, but Li Xiang was completely unfazed.

With a grip and a push, his two hands prevented the great white’s jaws—which had a bite force of thousands of pounds—from clamping down. Since the shark had been charging at high speed, Li Xiang’s sudden grab on its mouth halted its momentum. The shark’s massive body, under the force of its own inertia, was immediately flipped vertically.

It was like riding a bicycle at top speed and suddenly slamming on the front brake without touching the back. You would naturally flip over and get knocked silly.

As soon as the great white was flipped, it immediately went into ”shock.”

This is a state in sharks known as ”tonic immobility.” When flipped vertically or onto their backs, they become motionless, as if their pressure points have been struck. This can last from a few seconds to over ten minutes, and can even lead to suffocation and death.

Once the sharks flip back over, they quickly regain consciousness and swim away.

Orcas often use this very technique to hunt sharks. One flip, and the shark can only wait for death.

Li Xiang easily stored the great white shark in his system inventory.

System: ”Congratulations, Host. For killing the Tier Eighteen Mutated Creature, Man-eating Shark, you are rewarded with 1800 Achievement Points, three Tier Nine Mutated Spiritual Medicine Shark Fins, and one Tier Sixteen Extraordinary Spiritual Soldier, the White Jade Golden Hook Rod.”

The great white shark itself had fins, but the rewarded Spiritual Medicine fins were a different matter entirely and could not be compared.

In truth, every part of a shark is a treasure. Its liver, heart, skin, flesh, bones, gallbladder, embryo, and fins can all be used or made into medicine.

The skin can be used for detoxification and is rich in collagen; the stomach helps with digestion and strengthens the gastric system; the cartilage supports bone growth and has properties that dispel rheumatism and relieve pain; the fins are said to boost qi, stimulate appetite, clear phlegm, and remedy deficiencies.

A shark’s liver is well-developed, much larger than that of an average fish, and has a high fat content, making it a prime ingredient for nutritional supplements like fish liver oil.

The flesh is white with very little fat, and its protein content is higher than most fish, making it the best ingredient for products like fish floss, fish cakes, fish fillings, and fish balls.

Besides its medicinal uses, shark skin can also be used to make scabbards, bags, clothes, leather armor, and sword hilt wraps.

Li Xiang secretly inspected the Tier Sixteen Extraordinary Spiritual Soldier, the ”White Jade Golden Hook Rod,” and was even more delighted.

Made of some unknown material, it weighed a staggering 3,600 kilograms, more than four times heavier than his Profound Iron Mountain-Removal Rod. Not only was it heavy, but it was also incredibly sharp.

This was because it was a Hook Rod.

The Hook Rod is a type of Qimen Rod that originated in the Song Dynasty. The front of this rod features a sharp spearhead with two sharp, sickle-like blades. It could be used to stab, hook, and strike, hence the name ”Hook Rod.” It was a deadly weapon against cavalry, capable of hooking and breaking a horse’s legs or pulling an enemy soldier from his mount. It proved especially superior against heavy cavalry. This weapon was still in military use as late as the Ming Dynasty.

Li Xiang’s White Jade Golden Hook Rod was about 2.7 or 2.8 meters long and was as white as jade from end to end. The head of the rod was thick and fitted with two golden hooks. It had two Extraordinary Attributes: ”Armor-Piercing” and ”Critical Strike.” It was perfectly suited for someone like him who possessed Giant Power.

There is a difference between a ”rod” and a ”staff.” A staff is relatively uniform in shape and weight from one end to the other. A rod, however, has a weighted striking head, such as a golden-banded tip, an iron hammerhead, or a wolf-fang head.

Since it was inconvenient to use such a heavy rod underwater, Li Xiang did not take it out.

He and Luo Feifei continued swimming toward New Zealand and Australia, hunting Sea Beasts along the way.

In the deep sea, Luo Feifei had given him oxygen several times. The oxygen concentration was perhaps a little too high, leaving him feeling slightly intoxicated.

’This sensual way of sharing air is just too intoxicating. If Luo Feifei’s fans knew about this, a lot of them would probably have sleepless nights.’

Not long after, the two encountered an enormous Blue Whale, and Li Xiang became extremely excited.

Because this was a Saint Tier Blue Whale.

It was nearly fifty meters long and weighed five to six hundred tons—a rare sight in the world.

If Li Xiang had been alone, dealing with this Blue Whale would have been difficult, as he was not skilled in underwater combat. But with Luo Feifei there, they easily stored the Blue Whale King in the system inventory.

System: ”Congratulations, Host. For killing the Twenty-fourth Tier Mutated Creature, the Silver-Finned Blue Whale King, you are rewarded with 2400 Achievement Points, three Tier Twelve Mutated Spiritual Medicine Blue Whale Spirits, and one set of the Tier Twenty-second Extraordinary Item, the Giant Whale Saint Armor.”

The Blue Whale Spirits were white and translucent, looking a bit like grease. It was unclear what they were, but their Medicinal Power was extremely abundant.

As for the Giant Whale Saint Armor, it was a piece of Saint Tier Armor, rated as high as Tier Twenty-second. It was the highest Tier Extraordinary Item Li Xiang possessed. Compared to this Saint Tier Spirit Armor, his old Black Mountain Profound Armor was not even worth mentioning.

This Holy Armor was a brilliant aquamarine color, with a streamlined, extremely cool-looking design. It also possessed three Extraordinary Attributes: ”Water Avoidance,” ”Purification Healing,” and ”Transformed Whale.”

”Water Avoidance” was self-explanatory. While wearing the Armor, he could travel into the deepest parts of the sea without worrying about lack of oxygen or the immense pressure.
