Death… And Me

Chapter 3900: Here They Come!

Of course, Gakrid wouldn’t just give up there. Everything worked his way so far, so he might as well give his all. He covered his hands with as much Divine Energy as he could, catching the crystal in the next second.

*Tssss...*

The sound of flesh burning immediately echoed on Kentucky’s back as the crystal glowed fiercely. Not only that, it tried to get away from Gakrid’s grasp. It was the same case for all teams.

However, even though Gakrid could feel the pain and see his hands burning, he didn’t find it too hard. That came as quite a surprise to him. What you could see the crystal doing and what it could truly do were quite different. ”I... I think I can hold for a minute...”

Wisfreya stopped. As soon as she saw Tanxan throwing the crystal to Gakrid, she was certain he would drop it in a few seconds at most. She wanted to be there to catch it before he dropped. Otherwise, the countdown would start again, and they likely would have to go after the other teams to make them drop their crystals first. ”Are you sure?”

Gakrid nodded with an ugly expression. He could hold it, but it was still hard. ”I can... but only for a minute.”

Wisfreya then thought of something, looking in Celis’s direction. ’Did you do something to the crystal?’

Celis looked back at her, slightly impressed. ’I guess you aren’t the biggest ’genius’ of this martial gathering for nothing. Yes, I reduced the crystal’s power by manipulating the energy we added earlier.’

Wisfreya took a deep breath. ’Wasn’t that too dangerous? The Formations Masters came to check the crystal. What if they said the crystal was altered?’

Celis shook his head in response. ’They wouldn’t find anything since I truly made no modification in the crystal’s abilities at all. I just told you, didn’t I? I altered the energy we sent into the crystal, not the crystal runes. The crystal is working just fine, but its runes and incriptions are having a hard time circulating the energy, that’s all.’

’Everyone, pay attention,’ Kentucky called them out. ’The other teams are all coming after me. Do you want me to increase the speed?’

Roan shook his head in response. ’No. If you fly fast enough to outmaneuver them all, the fact that we are hiding our cultivation might be found out.’

Kentucky narrowed his eyes. ’Then what do we do? All the other nine teams will catch me once I reach the other side of the dome.’

Roan pulled out his sword. ’You already showed you can fly slightly faster naturally. All you need to do is fly in the direction where we will meet the lowest number of teams blocking our path. There will be nothing wrong if you just dodge a few of their attacks. As for the rest, we will take care of it.’

Kentucky understood. It was time to show what they were ’capable’ of as well. ’Alright, I’ll be pulling to the left once we get to the dome’s barrier.’

Rean turned to Gakrid and Rovitel. ”You two, for the next two minutes, the crystal will be yours to hold.”

Gakrid gritted his teeth. He was already holding it anyway. Rovitel, however, was nervous. ”But...”

”Don’t worry,” Rean smiled. ”If Gakrid can do it, so can you. Besides, you two know very well that you are pretty weak in this place. Yet, if you win this test, you can change your fates by taking a Nebula Core each. Do you really want to let this chance pass?”

Rovitel’s hesitation immediately disappeared. Indeed, someone like him was simply not fated for such an item as the Nebula Divine Core. Nonetheless, it is now a real possibility. He will bet everything on this chance, a chance to break away from his weak self. ”Understood!”

Kentucky was indeed ’slightly’ faster than the other teams, but no one thought it to be surprising, considering he was a Divine Demon Bird. There were other Divine Demon Beasts in this last phase, but Kentucky was almost the only bird. Thus, his ’slight’ advantage.

Still, the other teams understood that this is a dome, and Kentucky would be forced to fly in another direction once he reached its end. They all began exchanging Divine Sense Messages, and three groups, each consisting of three teams, were formed.

One group continued to pursue Kentucky from behind, while the other two went to the right and left sides. Kentucky was bound to bump into one of those groups once he couldn’t fly away anymore.

Of course, in the midst of all that, the Elemental Storms didn’t stop. It’s just that the power of their attacks now wasn’t as strong as when the twins’ group first acquired the crystal core. However, no one dropped their guard, expecting the Elemental Storms to target the group that had been holding the crystal for the longest time again.

*Kabrumm!*

Sure enough, it happened as soon as Kentucky got to the end of the Dome. Several Lightning bolts filled with Fire Element, as well as giant boulders shooting from the ground and icicles coming from the sides, came crashing on the twins’ group, making Gakrid’s face go pale.

However, Wisfreya stepped forward. Aether Energy created many tiny crystals, and she covered Gakrid’s back. She did not try to hold all the attacks on her own like before, pretending she was too injured to do so.

Of course, the twins’ group made their move as well. Rean moved to the front, Roan to the right, Zangeshu to the left, and Foliana to the top. Below, Tanxan’s slime body is prepared to strike the boulders.

’Death Style, Three Claws of the Dragon!’

’Death Style, Crescent Moon!’

’Crimson Thunder Rend!’

’Lightning Snake!’

*Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...*

With their combined efforts, they managed to strike down all the attacks created by the environment. Kentucky then flew out of the dust and smoke, now flying to the left side while following the Dome’s wall.

That display immediately caught the eyes of everyone watching. Each member of Wisfreya’s group seemed extremely talented. But, above all, they felt it was all thanks to Wisfreya, who was ’commanding’ their group.

’Ohhh! Wisfreya!!!’ Bugel almost jumped from his chair in excitement! He, too, was certain Wisfreya was the pillar that sustained that group’s actions.

Back in the dome, Kentucky pointed out. ’Here they come!’

Sure enough, since Kentucky flew to the left, he ended up meeting the three teams that went to the left side as well.
