Death… And Me

Chapter 3886: Can You Provide?

Wisfreya checked the formation with her own Divine Sense, and at least a Divine Sense of her level couldn’t get through. For now, she decided to believe Rean’s formation was good enough. ”Okay, this is how I do it.”

She raised her hands forward, opening her palms. Her Divine Energy and Bloodline Power gathered in front, and a Crystal began to form, just like the ones she used during the second event. However, Rean and Roan’s eyes opened wide when they saw what happened next!

”Is... Is she creating Starlight Energy?!” Rean barely managed to say those words.

Roan focused on that crystal with all his attention. He could feel it. The amount of Starlight Energy that girl was able to create was no joke. Of course, it didn’t match the Starlight Energy you could find inside the Starlight Fruit, for example, but it was definitely many times more than what you could get from the environment! If she could do that at the Saint Realm... Just what could se do if her cultivation was closer to the twins?

*Pin!*

At that moment, the system’s voice echoed in the twins’ minds.

[New Quest Available!]

[Starlight but no Star.]

[Starlight Energy is, after all, one of the many forms of energy by-products from the Chaos Source. At their core, they all come from the same place. Still, the cultivator called Wisfreya was able to create a new source of her own. That is unprecendented, even within the real Luminous Aether Dragon Race.]

[Due to the requirements, Wisfreya is the only cultivator capable of achieving this feat. Others with the same bloodline might be able to do it, but they would need Wisfreya’s teachings. It is not impossible for them to reach the same conclusion alone since Wisfreya managed to do so. Yet, considering how ancient this bloodline is, it is nearly impossible that another being carrying this bloodline will reach this answer on their own anytime soon.]

[However, the same went for the Abyssal Beast’s ability to use the Abyssal Paths. In the end, the Celestial Soul System was capable to copying Wisfreya.]

[Objective: Merge Wisfreya’s Soul and Bloodline with the Control Orb.]

[Reward: The Celestial Soul Realm will be able to create a Starlight Energy, a source strong enough for the hosts to reach the Peak Stage of the Divinity Realm without any troubles.]

[Reward Two: 10000 Celestial Points.]

When the twins heard the first part of the quest, they were quite happy. A personal source of Starlight Energy that would be strong enough to bring them to the Divinity Realm Peak Stage. Isn’t that exactly was they need? However...

’Merging her soul and bloodline with the Control Orb?’ Rean couldn’t help but ask Roan.

Roan narrowed his eyes. ’The system is basically telling us to sacrifice this girl. Is that correct, Sister Orb? Or is some hidden criteria behind the quest?’

Since the system finished explaining its quest, Sister Orb was allowed to speak again.

[There is no hidden meaning here. It is very straight forward. Sacrifice this girl, and you can get those abilities. No other way around.]

Rean obviously didn’t like it. ’How about cuting a piece of her soul and extracting some of her bloodline? I can make both and help her recover after. I just need to be careful to have her sense of self and memories moved to the remaining part of her soul to not cause any lasting damage.’

Roan also found it strange. ’With the Abyssal Beast, we got its soul but the system didn’t absorb it. In fact, we could have sent the Abyssal Beast away anytime we wanted, but it decided to sleep for a thousand years to recover on its own. It’s still inside our Dimensional Realm, and we can take it out at any moment. It doesn’t look all that similar to Wisfreya’s case.’

[I can’t answer Roan’s question since it is a decision of the system. But I do have an answer to Rean’s question instead... and the answer is no. The system demands the whole thing, no roundabouts. If it doesn’t get all at once, it won’t be able to copy her ability.]

The frown on Rean’s eyes was clear to anyone who could see. ’Then tell the system to go fuck itself! Hmph! I haven’t become desperate to the point that I’m going to sacrifice kids for my own good now.’

[Hum... but this kid did try to kill you, didn’t she?] Sister Orb pointed out.

’And she explained that it was part of her Soul Binding Contract terms. She had to get rid of witnesses until the Verjansy Country said it wasn’t necessary anymore,’ Roan hasn’t forgotten the explanation Wisfreya gave them back in the Second Event. And for him, seeing through a kid’s lies was as easy as breathing. She wasn’t lying.

[Sigh...] Sister Orb couldn’t do much there. [Then we might as well forget this quest exist. If you want to copy her ability, you need her to offer her life to the system. It’s that simple.]

Rean still wasn’t convinced. ’I don’t understand. The system has never asked us to sacrifice someone for it. At most, it required whoever it needed to stay in the Dimensional Realm for a period of time, just like the Abyssal Beast’s Soul for its ability of using and detecting Abyssal Paths. Or back then, with Hex, so the system could make a formation capable of controlling time. What changed now?’

’Ten thousand Celestial Points are also a huge reward,’ Roan added. ’Quite an enormous jump from our last Celestial Points reward from the last quest.’

[Listen, even if you ask me, the system didn’t tell me anything. At the very least, I can’t see any other alternatives for this. Unless, of course, you can suddenly provide enough Blood with Luminous Aether Dragon Bloodline and a Soul from someone with that Bloodline. But I believe the system mentioned Wisfreya was the only one, right? Besides, even if you decided to go after a Luminous Aether Dragon, there aren’t any Aether Dragons in this A1 Universe. Do you plan to leave this Universe to look for one? No, right? Then that’s it.]

Yet, Sister Orb noticed Rean’s eyes were shining, looking at Wisfreya. [Oh no...]

Rean’s smile increased. ’Oh yes!’

Rean... just thought of a plan!
