Death… And Me

Chapter 3880: The Cool One Arrived

”You... you know the right path? How?” Fergaya couldn’t help but ask the question that was on everyone’s mind.

Now, everyone looked at Kentucky, including Roan and the others. ’Since you revealed it, now find an explanation yourself, idiot.’

Yes, how did he know that? Everyone was watching the online stream. He’d better come up with a good excuse.

”Eh? Ah... that’s... Right, right! It’s the combination of information!” Kentucky finally came up with something.

Seeing that everyone was still looking at him, Kentucky continued his explanation. ”Ahem... You see, the seven of us joined together, and we have been here around this area for a while. So, together, we more or less mapped the maze and especially its shape-changing feature.”

”If you go back, you will see that all of us left quite a few marks on the platforms. In fact, a lot of the participants are doing that. By combining our knowledge, we were able to determine where the right path would be located. Of course, we still have to check to see if our combined efforts were right, but we believe we are right on point.”

In the end, Kentucky used truth mixed with lies. The method was correct, gathering all the information together to figure out the right path. The lie was that it was Sister Orb who did that, and the marks weren’t used for that end at all.

Flanfa and Teridel looked at Fergaya. ”Seems like hearing your bullshit about this Fan Club brought us something useful in the end.”

As for Fergaya, she was almost overcome with happiness, but she managed to control herself. ”Ahem! But of course! That’s the Great Kentucky! He would never disappoint his fans.”

She quickly approached Kentucky, her eyes shining. ”What about these other guys with you? If they are bothering you, your number One Fan, Fergaya, can get rid of them.”

”Hahaha!” Kentucky laughed in response. He almost said he wanted her to do exactly that, just to annoy Roan and the others. It was fortunate he knew the situation they were in at the moment. ”There is no need. They are all members of The Great Kentucky Fan Club, too. Do you see this guy, who was sadly born with that terrible cold expression of his? He is also a big fan of mine.”

The others felt like crying. Who the hell is part of your bullshit Fan Club?! Of course, they didn’t say that.

”Is that so?” she glared at the twins’ group. ”You better not try anything funny.”

Roan made a mental note to make the Minokawa suffer as much as possible next time he got some free time. ”Enough with that. Since the cat’s out of the bag, we might as well keep going. If our ’combined information’ is correct, this path leading to the Spire should be closing in around twenty minutes. Then we will need to find something else.”

Flanfa and Teridel narrowed their eyes. ”Then let’s move!”

Everyone flew ahead, but the two Saint Realm experts stayed behind. It was pretty obvious they were using the twins’ group to at least scout ahead for traps. Well, there were traps, obviously, but the twins’ group dealt with them without many issues.

Finally, they passed the spot that would be closed, and a few minutes later, they came out in an open area with a big Spire floating at the center. All around that Spire were many tokens, seemingly protected by a formation.

The organizers weren’t idiots. They knew that the first participants to get here would try to destroy other tokens or take many at once. That way, the number of participants would decrease for the third phase. However, with that formation, it became impossible to be done. Each participant could only take a single token and wouldn’t be able to touch the others in any way.

Flanfa, Teridel, and Fergaya looked around, surprised that Kentucky’s group was indeed correct. They did end up arriving in the right location. Even better, they would be among the very first participants to pass this test, which carried great importance for their backgrounds and themselves.

”Look...” Fergaya pointed behind, and she saw the path they used to arrive here closing as the crystal platforms changed.

”No, look around instead,” Flanfa commented, his eyes checking the entire place. Then, another path opened... and that was it. ”There was always just a single correct path. That’s nasty!”

Roan snorted. ”I’m more interested in the idiots hiding behind the Spire, waiting for us to get close.”

”What?!” Fergaya’s group immediately looked there. Their Divine Senses were spread, so how could they not see anyone? Was Roan trying to pull their leg? But then again, with the twins’ group’s cultivation levels, they wouldn’t be a match to them. So, was Roan telling the truth?

”Tch...” Then, a group of five cultivators and two demon beasts came out. Four of them were in the Saint Realm Initial and Middle Stages, while the other three were in the Soul Transformation Peak Stage. The man at the front was holding a pentadant in his hand that emitted an almost invisible ripple of energy in the surrounding few meters.

”No one was supposed to be able to see us while my clan’s treasure was active. How did you find us out?” The man asked.

As if Roan would tell him that. ”Only an idiot would reveal their own methods to the enemy. Keep guessing.”

Well... the twins’ group actually had many ways to detect them. First of all, that treasure could hide the user from Divine Senses, but only up to a certain level. The lowest level of Divine Sense in the twins’ group was the Space-Time Realm. Let’s not even talk about Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky, who all had Peak Divinity Realm Divine Senses.

Still, they didn’t need anything else. As soon as they entered this place, the red color of killing intent immediately became visible to Rean and Roan. How could they not know someone was lying in wait?

Fergaya narrowed her eyes. If she counted Kentucky’s group, her group actually had more members. However, they were definitely on the weaker side since the enemy had more companions with higher cultivation.

Yet, at that moment, the man with the pendant floated away with his group, leaving the path open for the Twins and Fergaya’s groups to reach the Spire. Even the red color of killing intent disappeared. ”Just go ahead and complete the test.”

Flanfa understood. ”Now that your ambush failed, it is not worth it to fight us since we still have three Saint Realm Experts, is that correct?”

”Partially,” the man answered. ”If it were easy, we would attack you to make a profit. But that is not our main objective here. We are waiting for a certain someone. That’s all.”

Rean and Roan could see it, telling Kentucky and the others. ’He is not lying. We truly aren’t their main objective.’

Foliana shrugged. ’Well, that’s good for us. We just want to pass this test, and if they don’t force a battle here, it plays in our hands.’

Roan nodded slightly. ’Precisely.’

Fergaya and the others also had no reason to fight, so they were more than happy to fly to the Spire and ignore that group. Of course, they were cautious, just in case there was a trap there or such.

*glanc, glanc, glanc, glanc...*

Yet, before they got there, the previous exit closed, and a new one opened. That was normal, and everyone understood it would keep happening until a thousand participants passed the test. But... It was at that moment that a young woman entered the room through that exit.

The twins had never seen her, but they immediately recognized the girl.

’Peak Stage Saint Realm... It’s the kid Sister Orb mentioned... what was her name... Oh, right! Wisfreya Lolkrin.’

Indeed, it was the same kid Sister Orb thought to be cool before the gathering started. (Chapter 3868)
