The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2699: Chapter 2699: Long Qingye (2)

Yang Ruxin was taken aback, a pregnant woman with a big belly? Her mind was racing in circles. The people she knew, Chun Hua mostly knew as well, and those whom Chun Hua didn’t know meant they were strangers. Who could it be?

While pondering, she instructed someone to bring the woman to the living room.

Dong Wenxiu and Feng Zilan knew someone had arrived, so they quickly joined. Someone must always keep an eye on the three children, and the two of them would never entrust this task to others.

In the living room, a woman who was at least five or six months pregnant was sitting there with some nervousness.

When Yang Ruxin reached the entrance of the living room, she didn’t immediately go in. Instead, she stood at the door for a moment, assessing the woman inside. From her clothing, it could be seen that although not wealthy, she wasn’t destitute either. At least her clothes were made of fine cotton. More importantly, the woman was somewhat attractive, especially her eyes, whose naturally upturned corners were full of allure.

After observing for a while, she signaled to Chun Hua.

”My mistress has arrived,” Chun Hua went in first and said.

The woman quickly withdrew her gaze from the room, standing up slightly apprehensive.

”Please sit.” Yang Ruxin then walked in and took a seat in the main chair, smiling warmly at the woman. Then she glanced at Chun Hua, ”She’s pregnant, don’t serve tea. Serve warm water instead.”

Chun Hua poured a cup of warm water and placed it in front of the woman, then poured Yang Ruxin a cup of tea.

The woman, clutching her handkerchief, sat down nervously.

”May I ask who you are and what brings you here?” Yang Ruxin asked with a smile, looking at the woman.

”I...” The woman lifted her gaze to look at Yang Ruxin, but quickly lowered her eyes.

Yang Ruxin wasn’t in a hurry. She leisurely sipped her tea, now feeling free to drink it since she was no longer nursing.

Without waiting for Yang Ruxin to continue pressing, the woman quickly stole another glance at her, swallowed hard, and suddenly fell to her knees: ”Madam, I beg you to stand up for me.”

Yang Ruxin’s brow furrowed.

Chai Qin stepped forward and helped the woman up: ”Our madam doesn’t like people kneeling. Please sit down and speak.” She then firmly placed the woman back onto the sofa, using a skillful force that left the woman no room to resist.

The woman was stunned for a moment, looking down at herself, then back up at Yang Ruxin, swallowing hard once more.

”Speak frankly. If you don’t, please leave.” Yang Ruxin put down her teacup, giving the woman a slightly stern look, ”My time is very valuable.”

”I’ll speak.” The woman finally stopped hesitating, though tears began to fall, ”I’m from Wuxian County. My name is Long Qingye, I’m a widow.”

Yang Ruxin nodded.

”It’s said that widows’ doorsteps invite trouble. Since my husband died, I’ve been alone and didn’t dare go out much.” Long Qingye sniffed and dabbed her tears with a handkerchief, ”I relied on doing some embroidery at home to make a living.”

Yang Ruxin didn’t speak, quietly listening. She had already guessed who the woman had come for when she mentioned Wuxian County.

”Half a year ago, I went out once and was harassed by a few thugs, but someone saved me.” Long Qingye looked at Yang Ruxin with tear-filled eyes, ”I was very grateful to him and thought he was a good person. I treated him like a brother, but...” She couldn’t stop her tears from flowing.

Yang Ruxin still kept silent, quietly watching her, waiting for her to continue.
