The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2686: Chapter 2686: Profiting from Others’ Misfortune (4)

”Gu Di and Hong Ye?” The Empress Dowager was slightly surprised.

”Yes, those two have grown fond of each other over time,” Yang Ruxin nodded, ”They make a good match.”

”Do you know that seducing a palace maid is actually a crime punishable by death?” The Empress Dowager suddenly raised an eyebrow and then picked up the teacup beside her for a gentle sip.

Nanny Zhuo’s eyes widened for a moment, but quickly returned to calm. She was happy; only when Yang Ruxin was around did the Empress Dowager seem so invigorated, even abandoning her usual self-reference as ’I, the Empress Dowager’, which she never did before.

She still preferred this lively Empress Dowager, much better than her usual amiable yet overly serious demeanor.

Yang Ruxin’s eyebrows twitched, ”Empress Dowager, are you serious? But, why don’t I recall any such record in Daxuan’s laws? I’ve memorized them all.”

”Harem regulations,” the Empress Dowager lifted her eyelids.

Yang Ruxin felt choked. Oh well, the Harem has regulations too? She hadn’t read them, so she could only helplessly shrug, ”Since the Empress Dowager disapproves, I have nothing more to say. I can’t let my Gu Di lose his head, can I? I’ll take my leave then.”

The Empress Dowager’s mouth twitched, suddenly slamming the table, ”Do you think leaving Kangshou Palace is that easy?”

”What do you want then?” Yang Ruxin looked troubled, ”I have to rush back to my Gu Di and find another girl for him, after all, he’s not getting any younger and can’t afford to wait.”

Inside the room, Gu Di pretending to be forlorn inexplicably sneezed.

”You...” The Empress Dowager was at a loss for words.

Nanny Zhuo stifled a laugh. The Empress Dowager had dug her own pit; was Madam Ruyi the kind to be easily intimidated? Let’s see how she gets out of this one, but she was still secretly signaling to Yang Ruxin not to push the elderly lady too hard.

Yang Ruxin knew the Empress Dowager wasn’t really trying to make things difficult for her, so she played along. Seeing Nanny Zhuo winking persistently, she knew not to act too grandiose, quickly stepping forward with a grin, ”Empress Dowager, you were probably just trying to scare me earlier, right? After all, you’re so kind-hearted, how could you bear to break up a happy couple?”

The Empress Dowager pouted.

”How about you suggest some conditions?” Yang Ruxin leaned forward, holding the Empress Dowager’s arm, ”As long as it doesn’t bankrupt me.”

The Empress Dowager finally couldn’t help but laugh, poking Yang Ruxin’s forehead, ”I really can’t handle you.”

”It’s not that the Empress Dowager can’t handle it, it’s because of your kindness, which is a blessing for our Daxuan.” Yang Ruxin’s flattery was resounding.

”Enough.” The Empress Dowager knew it was flattery but was still pleased, ”Don’t I know you well enough? Just someone with a gift for gab.”

”I’ve got a clever mind too, otherwise how could I make money, right?”

”Yes, yes.” The Empress Dowager gave Yang Ruxin an eye-roll, ”I can let Hong Ye leave the palace, but you must compensate me.”

”You’re taking advantage of the situation, aren’t you, old lady?” Yang Ruxin’s face instantly fell.

”Congratulations on guessing right.” The Empress Dowager chuckled cunningly, ”Do you agree or not?”

”First, tell me what compensation you want.”

”Double the amount of radishes you send to the palace.”

”Really? Empress Dowager, that stuff...” Yang Ruxin looked at the Empress Dowager’s smug face, ultimately shaking her head helplessly, finally sighing, ”Alright, the elderly are indeed wiser.”
