The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2654: Chapter 2654: Receiving the Imperial Edict (Part 6)

Emperor Xuanjing curved his lips slightly, ”So, Xinxin, do you think she can fulfill the role of Consort Yi?”

”Your Majesty, to be honest, Wei Yao’s background isn’t high enough to meet the demands of the Imperial Family, but there’s nothing we can do—Yi Wang isn’t allergic to her,” Yang Ruxin shrugged. ”There might be someone more suitable for Yi Wang, but who knows when we’ll find that person? Your Majesty wouldn’t want Yi Wang to be single forever, or worse, end up liking men, right?”

Emperor Xuanjing took a sharp breath; this was exactly what he feared.

”There’s one more thing, though it might not be quite appropriate to say.”

”Go ahead and say it,” Emperor Xuanjing waved his hand, ”You have my pardon.”

”The Crown Prince’s health is good, his capabilities are sufficient, and the court officials are generally convinced. Even if someone has ulterior motives, it won’t destabilize the court. Moreover, Yi Wang has always been a loyal follower of the Crown Prince without any great ambitions. Frankly speaking, he’s just a leisurely prince, so what does it matter if Consort Yi is noble or not? Your Majesty can look past the formalities and, as a father, consider that if his son is happy, isn’t that what matters?”

Emperor Xuanjing tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table, again and again, with a steady pace.

Yang Ruxin finished what she had to say and then fell silent.

After a long while, Emperor Xuanjing finally ceased his tapping, ”What do you think of Wei Yao’s character? I want the truth.”

”Her character is very pure, and her parents are kindhearted as well. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have meddled.”

”Enough, though I don’t think much of Wei Yao, I trust you, Xinxin. So be it, Ping Shun.”

Attendant Ping quickly came in.

”Draft the decree.”

So when Yang Ruxin left the palace, she took a decree with her.

By the time she arrived at the embroidery room, the Wei Family of four were having dinner.

”Madam, come in,” Wei Bingcen and Wei Zhangshi were delighted to see Yang Ruxin, warmly inviting her, ”We just started dinner, join us, I’ll cook another dish.”

”No need to busy yourself,” Yang Ruxin quickly gestured with her hand and then held up the decree, ”Wei Yao, accept the decree.” This was her first time announcing a decree, and it felt quite interesting.

Wei Yao was startled, but it was Wei Bingcen who reacted quickly, pulling his wife and daughter to kneel.

”Your servant Wei Yao accepts the decree,” Wei Yao steadied her racing heart and spoke in a trembling voice.

By the Emperor’s command, Emperor decrees, Wei Yao of the Wei Family is virtuous and refined, a model among women, and is hereby granted as Consort Yi to Prince Yi, to be wed on an auspicious day. Obey this decree!

Yang Ruxin didn’t even look at the decree again and simply recited the content, then moved forward, ”Future Consort, accept the decree.”

Wei Yao quickly accepted the decree with both hands.

”Madam, this...” Wei Bingcen and his wife still seemed to be confused about what it all meant.

”It means that His Majesty has taken a liking to your Wei Yao and has granted her to Prince Eight, also known as Prince Yi, Qi Jingyi, as his consort,” Yang Ruxin patiently explained. ”So, from now on, you are akin to relatives of the royal family.”

”Congratulations, Elder Sister,” Wei Jun was the first to react, quickly cupping his fists towards Wei Yao, ”You owe me a red envelope.”

Wei Yao blushed, giving her brother a playful slap, ”Go away.”

Wei Jun quickly dodged, ”You bully your little brother, be careful, I’ll complain to my brother-in-law.”

”You little brat...” Wei Yao chased after her brother, and the two of them laughed and played around.
