The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1609: Chapter 1609: Recruitment Part 2 (3)

Sure enough, this man named Luo Wanli was most skilled in arithmetic, especially adept at using the abacus.

Yang Ruxin first presented a few problems, and the other party quickly solved them with the sound of the abacus clicking swiftly.

”But sir, if you were to work as an accountant in some shop, wouldn’t you earn more than at the academy?”

”Shops have a lot of miscellaneous tasks; I can’t be bothered with them,” Luo Wanli waved his hand, ”The academy is more peaceful, and besides, you provide food, lodging, and clothing here. I’m alone, and if I go elsewhere, I’d have to find my own meals, which is troublesome.”

Yang Ruxin laughed, and similarly, had Sanni give him the contract, but before Sanni could introduce it, he picked up the pen and signed, then stamped his handprint, ”No fuss, I’ll make sure to teach the children well.” He then looked up at Yang Ruxin, ”When can I move in?”

”I’ll give you three days...”

”I don’t have any belongings; can I stay tonight?”

Yang Ruxin twitched the corner of her mouth, ”Sure.” Then she instructed Chun Hua to prepare a courtyard, ”Since you don’t have a wife, we’ll give you a single dormitory. If you ever have a wife, I’ll rearrange your accommodations.”

Luo Wanli waved his hand, though it was unclear whether it meant he understood or that he didn’t have a wife.

The dormitory, although simple, was fully equipped. The bedding was not luxurious, but it was all made of fine cotton cloth and new cotton, practical above all.

Then a few more people came, some with excellent knowledge, some with beautiful handwriting, some who could paint, some skilled in martial arts, some in archery, and even some who could make dough figures and grow flowers.

Everyone initially thought it was a joke for someone skilled in making dough figures or growing flowers to apply to be a teacher at the academy, yet Yang Ruxin accepted them.

”Sister, you’re not going to have everyone learn dough figure making and flower growing, are you?” Sanni was a little surprised.

”Why not?” Yang Ruxin laughed, ”Making dough figures can test a person’s dexterity and creativity; growing flowers can teach you to recognize plants, familiarize with soil, identify seasons and climates... it’s only beneficial with no harm. Besides, having more skills never hurts. Later on, I’ll have Uncle Kuang teach you how to raise livestock, Yang He to teach you how to play instruments, and the village head to teach you farming...”

Sanni nodded, ”I understand now, Sister. Don’t worry, I definitely won’t disappoint you.”.

A total of ten people came to apply, and Yang Ruxin signed contracts with eight of them, allowing them to start by the end of the month, with classes beginning on the first day of next month.

Some were alone, while others had families, so the arrangement was quite normal.

Of course, those who wanted to bring their families could do so too, and after clarifying the number of people, a small individual courtyard would be arranged for them.

However, besides Luo Wanli, Chu An, who taught calligraphy, also stayed directly. The old man was sixty, reportedly with no children, satisfied with a place to stay and a meal to eat.

Yet, although the old man wore old clothes, Yang Ruxin couldn’t see the slightest bit of destitution in him, and even sensed an aura of elegance. Even as someone who didn’t understand calligraphy, Yang Ruxin found his handwriting pleasing.

Intuitively, she knew this old man was not simple, but she also sensed he bore no malice.
