The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Rest for a Day_1

Yang Ruxin’s fainting and Sanni’s injury in the mountains didn’t cause any ripples in the Yang Family. Aside from Yang Baixiang sneaking over and bringing a few more cicada monkeys, not a single soul even bothered to ask after their well-being. When serving meals, they were met with cold, hostile stares, as if they were archenemies.

Of course, Ruxin had never expected any concern, so she wasn’t disappointed either.

However, what surprised her was that, although Yang Ruyu had taken a terrible fall earlier, she hadn’t come to settle the account with Ruxin. But Ruxin didn’t think that Feng Caie and the others would just let it go. Since they hadn’t made a move, she couldn’t respond, she could only wait and see.

The night passed without incident.

The next day, as usual, Ruxin was supposed to go up the mountain to gather firewood, but because Sanni’s foot was injured, she went with Erni this time.

”Dani,” just as she stepped out of the door, she saw Yang Anshi, unusually tender, standing there, ”you don’t need to go gather firewood today.”

”Grandmother?” Ruxin was startled, ”Are you sure?”

”What, is it not allowed for you to take a break for one day? If not, don’t say that we, the old Yang Family, are heartless...” Yang Anshi rolled her mung bean eyes.

”Alright then.” Ruxin promptly put down the firewood knife, ”I will gratefully accept grandmother’s generous offer and take a day off.”

Just then, Feng Caie walked out, followed by Yang Ruyu, who was holding a piece of clothing in her hand.

However, Yang Ruyu’s face was covered with a kerchief.

Ruxin couldn’t help but feel amused. She had heard from Sini, who reported with excitement that Yang Ruyu’s nose had been knocked askew. It seemed to be true from the current view, but whether it could be set straight again was another matter.

”Dani, don’t say that your second aunt doesn’t care about you,” said Feng Caie as she turned and reluctantly took the clothing from Yang Ruyu’s hand, ”This is a brand-new dress that your cousin just made but hasn’t worn yet, it’s for you.” She then stuffed it directly into Ruxin’s hands.

Ruxin, looking at the dress, laughed, ”Oh my, grandmother, second aunt, what’s going on here? All of a sudden you’re treating me so well, I feel uneasy, so...” she said, stuffing the dress back, ”I dare not accept it until it’s clear, I wouldn’t want to take it with my life and wear it without...”

”Elder sister, look at Dani, how disrespectful she is,” Feng Caie said, her nose almost crooked with anger, as she turned to Xun Hui, who was coming back from feeding pigs in the backyard, ”I’m giving her a dress and she makes it seem like a crime, what’s this about?”

”She’s just shameless,” Yang Anshi muttered under her breath.

Ruxin just smiled carelessly, thinking to herself, if you don’t make it clear, I won’t accept it; have it your way.

”Here’s the thing,” Yang Anshi and Feng Caie exchanged a look, and finally, it was the old lady who spoke up, ”Tomorrow that Zhao Feihu is coming to see Dani for a possible match. We can’t just present her in her current state, can we? Today, she should take a bath and change into new clothes, at least she’ll be presentable tomorrow.”

Xun Hui looked at Ruxin, actually quite pleased with the Zhao Family’s proposition. The conditions sounded really good, and she didn’t have high expectations; she just wanted her daughters to find a good home. Now that Dani was fourteen, if her father were still alive, they would probably have exchanged betrothal gifts with the Guan Family by now, but currently... it’s difficult for an eldest daughter who has lost her father to find a good match, as slightly discerning families don’t want them, deeming it unlucky. Now that a good prospect had come along, she naturally wanted her daughter to secure the match, but considering the girl’s demeanor... she truly didn’t know whether that fall had altered her personality for the better or worse...
