“What are you doing?” Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh and cry.

It was just Guan Qingshu passing by, right?

Was there really a need for this girl to be blocking the way?

“I’m scared…”

“How silly.” Yang Ruxin shook her head and then bent down to continue sorting through the wheat roots in the field, picking out any large stones.

Erni paused for a moment, glanced back at Guan Qingshu, who was leaving the village, then at her older sister, bit her lip, and hurriedly bent down to work as well.

Since the Yang Family’s land wasn’t far from the village, most people coming and going could see it easily.

Guan Qingshu was planning to return to town today.

Originally, his father wanted him to set out early and just have breakfast in town, but for some reason, he didn’t want to leave that early, so he had breakfast before departing.

As he walked out of the village entrance, he immediately spotted several busy figures in the Yang Family’s fields, and his gaze quickly found Yang Ruxin.

She’s fine!

That was Guan Qingshu’s first reaction, and he immediately felt a wave of relief wash over him.

He had been somewhat anxious ever since his mother came back from delivering eggs and said Dani was alright.

Honestly, if something had really happened to her, he would’ve felt guilty for the rest of his life.

But as he kept walking, he grew fearful again, afraid that the girl would suddenly run over and cling to him.

However, this path was unavoidable if he wanted to leave the village, so he could only move forward with a frightened heart.

Yang Baixiang turned around, saw Guan Qingshu approaching, and greeted him with a nod, “Is Qingshu heading to school?”

Guan Qingshu felt annoyed inside, but it would have been rude not to respond, so he simply nodded, “Yes, Uncle Yang Wu,” and then quickly quickened his pace to pass by.

At that moment, Yang Ruxin, who had been squatting for a while, stood up to stretch her legs.

Guan Qingshu was startled and broke into a run, but unfortunately, the road was uneven, and he stepped on a stone, tumbling to the ground with a thud.

“Qingshu, are you alright?” Yang Baixiang was a kind man, and seeing someone fall, he rushed over immediately.

Yang Ruxin hadn’t been looking in that direction, but Yang Baixiang’s words made her turn subconsciously, only to see the ungainly figure of Guan Qingshu.

A line of black ran through her head, thinking to herself, what a useless scholar, tripping over even when just walking?

She shook her head and then continued to squat down and work.

Guan Qingshu felt terribly annoyed with himself, thinking he blew it; she hadn’t seen him, but now he had exposed himself.

He quickly tried to get up but felt a piercing pain in his palm, and his bundle had fallen to the ground.

Yang Baixiang helped him up, “Oh dear, you’re bleeding…

that needs to be treated…”

“It’s nothing.” Guan Qingshu, however, bit back the pain and shook his head, “It’s just a superficial wound, I’ll have it treated at the medical hall in town.” He took the bundle Yang Baixiang had picked up, dusted it off, “Thank you, Uncle Yang Wu.”

Yang Baixiang frowned slightly, but seeing the other’s insistence, he had nothing more to say and went back to work.

Guan Qingshu held his bundle and hurried out, but his knee was also sore, making his walk somewhat awkward.

However, after walking a good distance, Guan Qingshu suddenly stopped.

He finally sensed something was amiss; Yang Dani hadn’t chased after him at all, it seemed like she hadn’t even paid any attention to him.

He couldn’t help but glance back, but all he saw was Yang Dani’s busy figure, and he frowned.

Could it be…

she didn’t see him?
