Chapter 1482: Chapter 1481 Shocking Lin Tiance

Lin Tiance’s first action after coming out of retreat was to visit his grandmother, the Old Patriarch of the Lin Family.

In the Lin family, the Old Patriarch was revered like the sky itself, and Lin Tiance had always shown her great respect, learning from a young age how to please her.

The first thing he did after coming out of retreat was naturally to pay respects to his grandmother.

He had just taken a few steps when the servants of the Lin family spotted him.

”Young master, you’ve come out of retreat?”

”That’s great, our young master has come out of retreat.”

”Congratulations, young master, on your increased strength.”

”...”

These servants in the courtyard, being martial artists themselves, naturally knew about Lin Tiance’s retreat.

Seeing Lin Tiance emerge from retreat, they all rejoiced and congratulated him on his increased strength.

Lin Tiance was in a good mood at the moment and nodded to everyone, ”Today, I’ve come out of retreat in great spirits. After I meet the Old Patriarch, I will reward the entire courtyard!”

Hearing this, the servants were even more delighted.

”Thank you, young master.”

”You’re so generous, young master.”

Lin Tiance waved his hand and then walked toward the Buddhist temple where the Old Patriarch often stayed.

At that moment, the Old Patriarch of the Lin Family was standing in front of a Buddha statue, her eyes closed, fingering the prayer beads in her hands.

Lin Tiance walked in gently, not wanting to disturb the Old Patriarch as she recited her prayers, planning to greet her after she finished.

However, at this moment, as if the Old Patriarch had eyes on the back of her head, she softly said, ”Tian Ce, have you come out of retreat?”

Lin Tiance hastily replied, ”Yes, Grandma. I have come out of retreat. It took me only four months to fully absorb that Medicine King, advancing from the peak of the Energy Conversion Master to a Half-Step Earth Realm martial artist.”

”Among the younger generation, I should now truly be ranked first.”

Hearing this, the Old Patriarch remained neither joyful nor sorrowful, continuing to finger her prayer beads.

At the same time, she said, ”Do not underestimate the people of the world. Never use the term ’first’ to describe yourself.”

”Your grandfather, who once roamed unfettered across the land, never dared claim he was the first under heaven. Lin Zhantian, as proud as he was, never dared to claim that title either.”

Lin Tiance lowered his head and said, ”Yes, Grandma, I’ve taken your lesson to heart.”

This was why Lin Tiance was liked by his grandmother; even if he felt unconvinced internally, he portrayed himself well outwardly.

In order to make the Old Patriarch happy, he ultimately went against his own desires, voicing words that went against his beliefs.

Just like now, even though he believed himself to be the best in the world, after hearing the Old Patriarch’s lessons, he did not argue back but behaved like a docile child, following along with her words.

The Old Patriarch turned her head and said with a smile, ”Tian Ce, what is it that you most want to do after coming out of retreat?”

”Is it to marry Xiaoxue? I really like that girl, Xiaoxue. Grandma hopes that you could get married to her soon.”

Hearing this, Lin Tiance said, ”Grandma, Qiao Xue and my marriage has already been arranged. It has even been announced. Wouldn’t it be inappropriate to hold the wedding ahead of schedule?”

”That would damage the credibility of our Lin family’s word.”

The Old Patriarch of the Lin Family nodded, ”That’s also true.”

Lin Tiance then continued, ”Grandma, what I most want to do now is something else.”

”Before I marry Qiao Xue, I want to defeat the real ’Master Lin.’ I know that the person Qiao Xue truly likes in her heart is ’Master Lin.’”

”I want to prove that I am stronger than him.”

Hearing this, the Old Patriarch of the Lin Family fell silent.

She sighed in her heart, for in the past he had favored his younger son, Lin Zhankun, the most. However, the disparity between Lin Zhankun’s talent and Lin Zhantian’s was like the difference between heaven and earth. This caused Lin Zhankun to always target him, dreaming of beating him.

Unexpectedly, this situation had continued on.

The grandson he now favored even more was Lin Tiance. But Lin Tiance’s talent had an even greater gap compared to that between Lin Zhankun and Lin Zhantian.

And Lin Tiance’s goal was also to defeat Lin Dong.

Indeed, like father like son!

”Only by defeating him will I be able to rid myself of the Heart Devil and rightfully marry Qiao Xue!” Lin Tiance clenched his fist, continuing to speak.

The Old Patriarch of Lin Family somewhat reluctantly told him about Lin Dong’s current strength, but she had to tell him.

”Tiance, perhaps in this lifetime, you will never have the chance to defeat him,” the Old Patriarch of Lin Family sighed and said slowly.

”What do you mean?” Lin Tiance hastily asked.

”Because, at most, he can only live for a few more days. He has already made a death duel appointment with your master, King Kunlun, and in a few days, he will undoubtedly die,” the Old Patriarch of Lin Family explained.

”What? He has arranged a death duel with my master? What a joke! Why use a sledgehammer to crack a nut? I can easily wipe him out. There’s no need for my master to act!” Lin Tiance couldn’t help but retort.

A bitter smile appeared on the Old Patriarch of Lin Family’s face as she continued, ”Why bother doing it yourself?”

”Sometimes, you don’t need to get your own hands dirty. You just need to enjoy the outcome.”

”That won’t do, Grandma. I could listen to you before, but this time, I must act myself.”

”Otherwise, I will be left with a Heart Devil.”

”I can’t accept the fact that my cousin is stronger than me. I must defeat him to prove that I am the chosen one!”

The Old Patriarch of Lin Family’s face darkened; she knew persuasion was futile now.

She could only tell him the harsh truth.

”Sword Servant.” At that moment, the Old Patriarch of Lin Family softly called out to someone outside.

”Whoosh!” A figure like a shadow suddenly appeared, initially transparent.

Gradually, it became more solid.

This was a gaunt old man, his arms resembled dead branches, hunching his body, looking as though one foot was already in the coffin.

Yet, this frail old man was carrying a heavy sword on his back, wider and larger than himself.

He bowed slightly and respectfully said, ”Master, young master.”

The Old Patriarch of Lin Family nodded slightly, then continued, ”Go and bring the recent information on ’Master Lin’ for the young master to see.”

”Yes!” After the Sword Servant responded, his figure slowly turned transparent, and whooshed away from its original location.

But in less than a minute, his figure began to reappear slowly, initially still a transparent phantom.

Slowly, it solidified into a tangible body.

However, this time, he had an additional document in his hand.

He handed this document to Lin Tiance.

Lin Tiance, puzzled, took it and then opened the first page.

”’Master Lin,’ Lin Dong, twenty-one years old this year. In January, he invaded Jiangbei, eliminating the Clan Chiefs of the Four Great families in Jiangbei, annihilating the First Family of Jiangbei, the Chen Family, personally beheading the Family Patriarch, Chen Beiming. Note: Chen Beiming had just stepped into the Earth Realm!”

Whoa!

Upon seeing the first line of information, Lin Tiance became unsettled, saying in disbelief:

”Lin Dong...he actually managed to kill someone in the Earth Realm!?”

He was utterly shocked, and the joy from just having come out of seclusion vanished completely. The smile on his face also seemed to disappear entirely.

And this was just the beginning.
