Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 447: Chapter 447: Life is Short

The infant was completely red all over, its skin as thin and transparent as a membrane, which made it possible to see many worms wriggling inside.

The baby was already devoid of life, a stillborn emitting an odd odor.

Upon witnessing this scene, everyone was visibly shocked.

”Lin... Doctor Lin Dong was actually telling the truth!”

”Is this what they call a Gu fetus? How terrifying!”

”How did this come about?”

”...”

At the moment, everyone’s eyes turned back to Lin Dong. Even the doctors, who had been practicing for decades, had never seen such a thing as a Gu fetus.

It was truly unheard of!

Lin Dong explained to the crowd, ”The pregnant woman has been cursed with a Gu. Someone has been using her fetus to cultivate a ’mother Gu’.”

Hearing this, everyone gasped in horror.

”This... this is just too cruel!”

Almost everyone looked distressed.

On one hand, they were frightened by such brutal methods. On the other, they were grinding their teeth in anger at such actions.

The person who could do such a thing was nothing short of a beast.

The middle-aged man clenched his fists, his eyes red-rimmed.

As for the pregnant woman, she was continuously wiping her tears.

Lin Dong also sighed.

”This fetus is already dead, and moreover, it’s filled with Gu worms; it needs to be dealt with.”

Huang Wende spoke up, ”The hospital will take care of it. We will have them cremated.”

Lin Dong glanced at Huang Wende and gave a slight nod.

He could have directly performed Internal Qi Transformation and incinerated them with a burst of flame.

But, after thinking about it, there was no need to show such a technique in front of everyone. Besides, to be honest, even though the fetus was dead, Lin Dong still felt a psychological barrier to taking action himself.

It was better to leave it to the hospital to handle.

The husband and wife also nodded in agreement, though with pain in their hearts.

Soon, Huang Wende had someone take the Gu fetus away to be cremated.

As for the couple, they were now expressing their gratitude to Lin Dong.

The middle-aged man said, ”Doctor Lin Dong, thank you for stepping in. You saved my wife’s life.”

Lin Dong waved his hand, ”It’s only natural for a doctor to cure diseases.”

”That may be true, but there are few doctors like you who dare to take responsibility and are wholeheartedly considerate of their patients!” said the middle-aged man bitterly.

Lin Dong sighed deeply; such problems were not something he could change.

”Alright, the matter is resolved. As for your threatening Director Wang Changjun with a knife, you should negotiate a solution among yourselves.”

Lin Dong was just a doctor, not a policeman. Such matters were not his responsibility.

Having cured the pregnant woman, he was ready to leave.

At that moment, nearly everyone applauded Lin Dong.

Lin Dong’s reputation in the hospital had also been further enhanced.

When he was about to leave, the heads of various departments came one by one.

”Doctor Lin Dong, I am the head of the Neurology Department. If we encounter patients we can’t handle in the future, may we ask for Doctor Lin Dong’s assistance?”

”Doctor Lin Dong, I am the head of the Urology Department. If we encounter patients we can’t treat, please be sure to help us.”

”Doctor Lin Dong, I am the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Are you interested in joining our department?”

”...”

Lin Dong was continuously agreeing to the previous requests.

But the last one he really couldn’t agree to.

”Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, I apologize, but my expertise is in Traditional Chinese Medicine.”

The Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology said, ”But I was truly amazed by your induction method just now. To be honest, I’ve been in this field for decades, and yet I feel inadequate in comparison.”

”Doctor Lin Dong, if it really isn’t possible, how about taking on an advisory role in our department?”

Lin Dong felt awkward and waved his hand in refusal once more.

With some difficulty, Lin Dong finally managed to extricate himself from the crowd.

He then made his way back to Elder Qiao’s sickroom.

In the distance, Vice President Huang Wende watched Lin Dong’s retreating figure with a cold glint in his eyes.

”Just you wait. No one who offends me gets away with it!”

Lin Dong and others like Qiao Bing returned to Elder Qiao’s sickroom.

Elder Qiao lay in the hospital bed, oblivious to the scene that had just unfolded, but others chattered away, giving a rough account of the recent events.

After listening, Elder Qiao’s smile deepened, and he looked at Lin Dong with increasing fondness.

His gaze seemed to drift as he reminisced, possibly recalling some distant past events.

Then thinking of his own current physical condition, he couldn’t help but sigh internally.

”Lin Dong, I don’t have much time left, and I’m preparing to be discharged from the hospital. Could you take me back home?” Elder Qiao asked with a smile.

”Of course,” Lin Dong nodded.

Qiao Xue, Qiao Bing, and others all spoke up, saying they wanted to send Elder Qiao home together.

The relatives were also ’enthusiastical’, such as Chu Lan and Chu Yunhai.

However, Elder Qiao waved his hand, ”Go do your own things; busy yourselves with what’s important. Lin Dong taking me home is enough.”

”There are some things, I want to discuss alone with him.”

Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.

Before long, the others dispersed.

And Lin Dong was left to take Elder Qiao home alone.

Back at Qiao’s Villa, Elder Qiao suddenly said:

”Lin Dong, having felt my pulse, you must know. My time is short, isn’t it?”

Upon hearing this, even Lin Dong fell silent.
