Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 420: Chapter 420: The Birthday Banquet of Two Families

Time is like fine sand, slipping through the palm and drifting away between the fingertips.

In a blink, it was the day of Elder Qiao’s birthday banquet.

Over the past few days, Lin Dong worked at the hospital during the daytime, and at night, he returned to the Jingzang Linglong District.

In the morning, when he was preparing to leave, Sister Bai Jue made breakfast for him and also asked him to put on a suit.

”Dongzi, my parents will also be coming to Jianghai today. Later, I’ll join them to attend Elder Qiao’s birthday banquet,” Sister Bai Jue said.

Lin Dong nodded, as he had previously invited the Bai Family.

They were indeed coming.

”I’ll head over first. If your parents arrive early, you can take them around for a little stroll,” Lin Dong said.

”Mhm, I know,” Sister Bai Jue replied.

After parting with Sister Bai Jue, Lin Dong went straight to the Wuying Grand Hotel.

On the way, Lin Dong also received a call from Sister Hong.

”Divine Doctor Lin, we’ve clarified the identity of that man in black from yesterday. He was sent by Chairman Zhao,” she reported.

Lin Dong frowned slightly. That Zhao Heilong was actually sending someone to monitor him?

It seemed he needed to be more cautious with Zhao Heilong, who was no simple character.

”Okay, I got it,” Lin Dong said after hanging up the phone, and the taxi soon arrived at the Wuying Grand Hotel located within the Wuying Resort.

Although it was early, most of the Qiao and Zhou families had already arrived.

The hosts of the banquet, naturally, were there to greet the guests.

On the Qiao side, the team was led by Elder Qiao, who was dressed in a Tang suit today and accompanied by the Qiao family’s Chu Yunxiu, Qiao Xue, and Qiao Bing, standing on the left side of the hotel’s main gate.

As for the Zhou side, it was led by Zhou Shichang. He also wore a Tang suit and stood with the Zhou family members on the right side of the hotel.

However, their Zhou family had many more members than the Qiao family. In addition to Zhou Shichang himself, there were also his son Zhou Wenqing, daughter-in-law Wang Ling, grandson Zhou Ming, granddaughter Zhou Na, prospective grandson-in-law Lu Feng, and another daughter and son-in-law, as well as a granddaughter.

The Zhou family appeared prosperous and thriving.

At the moment they saw Lin Dong arriving by taxi, Zhou Na couldn’t help but mock him with a strange tone,

”Wow, isn’t that our esteemed President Lin? To think, coming to your own resort hotel to attend the birthday banquet, why take a taxi?”

”You own the entire Wuying Resort, and yet you don’t have your own car?”

”Not even a driver, that doesn’t suit your status at all.”

No sooner had she spoken than Zhou Ming and Wang Ling couldn’t help but sneer.

Facing these words from Zhou Na, Lin Dong replied coldly, ”I like taking taxis. Is that a problem?”

”Hahaha...” Hearing this, Zhou Na and others laughed hysterically.

”It’s because you don’t really have a car, isn’t it!”

”Still talking tough. Do you still think this Wuying Resort is yours?”

”Your bluff has already been called, and yet you refuse to admit it. I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you in this world!”

”...”

Zhou Na and Zhou Ming ridiculed Lin Dong arbitrarily.

Lin Dong looked at Zhou Ming and said, ”I remember you saying before that if this Wuying Resort is mine, you’ll perform washing your hair upside down at Grandfather Qiao’s birthday banquet.”

”Don’t forget that!”

”Hahaha...” Zhou Ming, hearing Lin Dong’s words, burst out laughing, ”You’re still bragging.”

”If this Wuying Resort really were yours, not to mention washing hair upside down, I’d call you grandpa with no objection.”

”But can it be yours? You’re just full of hot air!”

Lin Dong sneered, ”Remember your words right now.”

He didn’t bother with the Zhou family anymore and headed straight for the Qiao family members on the left side of the hotel.

As soon as he approached the Qiao family, he was greeted by Chu Yunxiu with a frown.

Chu Yunxiu felt humiliated by Lin Dong’s previous words.

”Elder, look at him. He’s completely beyond redemption, arriving and starting to brag again. He shouldn’t have been allowed to attend this birthday banquet!” Chu Yunxiu complained.

Elder Qiao also frowned slightly.

Qiao Bing spoke up, ”Mom, maybe Lin Dong isn’t bluffing.”

Chu Yunxiu rolled her eyes, ”Qiao Bing, have you gone crazy? How is that not bluffing? Who doesn’t know that Wuying Resort belongs to the Zhou Shi Clan? How could it possibly be his? He’s blatantly lying through his teeth; isn’t that bluffing?”

Elder Qiao sighed as well, feeling that it was also necessary to ’educate’ Lin Dong a bit.

As soon as Lin Dong approached, Elder Qiao said,

”Lin Dong, I know you’re a good kid. However, you are still young, and you’ve lived in the Hometown all this time.”

”Having been in the City for only a few months, it’s easy to be dazzled by the city’s glamor and pick up some bad habits.”

”Elder Qiao doesn’t blame you, as he finds it quite normal. But when you have developed a bad habit, you must change it.”

Lin Dong, puzzled, asked, ”Elder Qiao, what should I change?”

”Your habit of bragging,” Qiao Guoting said.

Lin Dong was taken aback and replied reluctantly, ”Elder Qiao, even you think I’ve been bragging all along?”

Qiao Guoting sighed, ”Isn’t it so?”

Lin Dong shook his head, first glanced at Elder Qiao, then at Chu Yunxiu,

and finally at the Zhou family members nearby.

Then, he spoke deliberately and slowly, ”Perhaps to you, a mere Wuying Resort seems quite valuable.”

”But in my eyes, it’s not worth mentioning at all.”
