Chapter 421: Chapter 421: Lin Dong, Watch Your Words

If it weren’t for the special features of this place, Lin Dong really wouldn’t give Wuying Resort a second glance.

He wouldn’t necessarily accept it either.

After all, taking it would mean having to become a backer for the Zhou Shi Clan, to protect them.

Compared to receiving Lin Dong’s protection, the value of Wuying Resort clearly wasn’t enough.

It was only because of the spiritual energy here that Lin Dong agreed.

But as soon as he said this, it provoked a round of raucous laughter from the Zhou Family nearby.

Just then, relatives from the Qiao Family, Qiao Bing’s uncle Chu Yunhai with his daughter Chu Lan, happened to overhear Lin Dong’s remarks.

Chu Lan couldn’t stand it and, pointing at Lin Dong, said:

”Lin Dong, can you shut your mouth? From a great distance, I’ve heard you boasting!”

”Is today the kind of occasion for you to boast about such things?”

”If the people from the Zhou Shi Clan heard you boasting like this, they might just tear your mouth apart.”

Hearing this, Elder Qiao quickly said, ”Lin Dong, watch your words.”

He worried that Lin Dong was courting trouble. Boasting wasn’t illegal, but if the subjects of the boasting overheard him and became angry, no one knew what might happen.

Clearly, Wuying Resort belonged to the Zhou Shi Clan, and if Lin Dong had just talked about it among his own people, that would have been fine.

However, if the Zhou Shi Clan themselves heard it and took offense, breaking Lin Dong’s arms and legs was a possibility.

Zhou Na also interjected with a laugh:

”We’ve invited the actual owner of Wuying Resort, a direct line descendant of the Zhou Shi Clan Patriarch, to attend the birthday banquet.”

”They have agreed to send Miss Zhou Yue.”

”Lin Dong, what do you think Miss Zhou Yue will do to you when she comes to our Zhou Family’s birthday banquet and hears what you’ve said?”

At this, the Qiao Family members’ faces changed, none daring to imagine that scenario.

”I guess she won’t say anything but rather feel quite honored,” Lin Dong said indifferently.

”Hahaha...” Zhou Na couldn’t help but burst into hysterical laughter, ”Lin Dong, you really are freaking awesome!”

”You want to save face so badly, even now you dare to boast!”

”Okay, just keep being stubborn! Wait till Miss Zhou Yue arrives, and if you still dare to boast like that, then you can call me your grandson!”

Chu Yunxiu glared fiercely at Lin Dong:

”Lin Dong, if you dare to boast like this again, just get lost! Ou`r family’s birthday banquet doesn’t welcome you!”

”You boastful person, do you really want to disgrace my aunt’s family?” added Chu Lan.

Lin Dong wanted to say more, but Elder Qiao commanded:

”Enough, everyone say less.”

After speaking and looking at Lin Dong with some authority, he said:

”Lin Dong, stand beside Little Bing, and from now on, don’t speak!”

Lin Dong resigned himself to silence; he could ignore others but he had to listen to Elder Qiao.

All he could do was stand silently beside Qiao Bing.

Qiao Bing extended her hand and gently clasped his in her palm, then turned her head to look at him.

In her eyes, it was as if she was saying a word to Lin Dong.

”Even if the whole world doesn’t believe in you, there’s still me who believes!”

Lin Dong responded to her with a faint smile, thinking to himself:

”My girl, today I will let everyone know that the blind-sighted one is not you, Qiao Bing, but all of them!”

At the moment, guests were already arriving one after another.

Since Elder Qiao and Zhou Shichang shared the same birthday, over the years, they naturally celebrated on the same day.

However, this year’s birthday banquet was much grander than before.

As people of the Dragon Country tend to do, they place great importance on decade birthdays, particularly the sixtieth.

It can even be said that the sixtieth birthday is the most grandly celebrated by most people of the Dragon Country.

For those who’ve rivaled each other for most of their lives, how could they not compete on such an occasion?

What situation in a birthday is the most glorious?

The most worth discussing?

Naturally, it’s the guests who come and go!

The scale of the birthday banquet.

The variety of gifts received on the birthday.

In the past, when the two families held birthday banquets, these were not as grand as today’s. Previously conducted at home, even so, the two families would compare with each other.

Zhou Shichang always had the upper hand in the past.

The guests attending his birthday banquet were endless, whereas fewer people came to Elder Qiao’s birthday.

This time, in the eyes of the Zhou Family, it was surely going to be the same.

Even Elder Qiao, Chu Yunxiu, and others within the Qiao Family silently acknowledged this.

But who doesn’t love face?

Even Elder Qiao loved face.

He too wished to outdo his old rival, Zhou Shichang, on his sixtieth birthday.

”Eh, Elder, isn’t that Xiao Huang, your direct subordinate before retirement? I’ve heard he’s doing well, holding an important position at Jianghai Medicine Supervisor! Even hospital presidents give face to him!” said Chu Yunxiu when she saw a middle-aged bald man get out of an Audi.

Elder Qiao, spotting the man, couldn’t help but say:

”Indeed it’s Xiao Huang; he must’ve come to attend my birthday banquet!”

He was convinced of this because before retirement, he had taken good care of Xiao Huang and had nurtured him like an apprentice.

Now that he had come, it must surely be to attend his birthday banquet, to express his gratitude.

Walking toward the middle-aged bald man, he smiled and said:

”Xiao Huang, thanks for remembering your old boss. Taking time out of your busy schedule to attend my birthday banquet, please come inside quickly!”

Taking the man’s arm, he began to head inside.

However...

The middle-aged bald man, Xiao Huang, said awkwardly:

”That... Elder Qiao, I... actually came to attend Elder Zhou’s birthday banquet!”

Wow!

The moment these words were uttered, Qiao Guoting froze on the spot.
