Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Fortunately, ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍I had thought to make one as a souvenir back then, otherwise there would be no finished product to show them now.

For ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍the next batch of Dream-state Soul-substance, it would likely take a while to complete the purification.

Although ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍the efficiency was much higher compared to the previous constant trial and error, it still wasn’t something that could show results in just a day or two.

“Is ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍this the Dream-state Soul-substance? Sure enough, it has completely different properties from the Nightmares I captured. It’s hard to imagine they were the same kind of thing before.”

“Does ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍this specimen belong to the dream side? A pity it can only be viewed over here. If it could be taken out, I would show it to other witches no matter what.”

“It is indeed a specimen situated within the dream, but it doesn’t require a very deep-layer dream; it can be transferred in a shallow dream state. Does this sister want to take it for something?”

I asked.

“Oh I have a Witch Academic Tea Party coming up soon. I really want to take this over to let them see it!”

“I see.”

I nodded to indicate I understood.

Although Witch Tea Parties were mostly a form of leisure gathering for witches, some special academic meetings were also held in this manner, belonging to an invitation-only system with a very high threshold.

To a certain extent, it was also a characteristic of the witch race.

Moreover, many of these high-level Witch Academic Tea Parties were held within the Primal Dream State.

After all, many witches could not cross the Void just for a single tea party.

So it was just right within the Primal Dream State.

Of course, this circle within the Main World’s Witch Academy was much smaller.

There was no need to hold it within the Primal Dream State; some tea parties could be directly invited, as meeting in reality held much more meaning than meeting in the Primal Dream State.

“Actually, if you really want to do that, you can carry it directly within your Soul Dream State. When the time comes, create a small-scale dream overlap at the venue, and it can be taken out.”

I suggested.

“Um... can a Soul Dream State even be used like that?”

“Can it not? Then what do you sisters usually use your Soul Dream States for?”

I asked in confusion.

I truly did not know about this.

And I had asked Big Sis Bai as well, but Big Sis Bai clearly had not utilized it well.

Big Sis Bai would occasionally sink her mind into it to perform the cultivation of the Witch Meditation Method, as it was not easily disturbed by the outside world.

“Um... interfacing with a personal space in the Primal Dream State? I usually use it that way.”

“Means for developing the Soul Dream State very powerfully are all very expensive and don’t have much practical use, so I generally ignore it.”

“I have mine filled with things from my past memories, used to anchor my memories from too long ago. The function seems to overlap a bit with the Seed of Great Knowledge.”

“I cultivated the Tree of Knowledge sprouted from the Seed of Great Knowledge within my Soul Dream State. I have to say, this feeling of watching a tree grow in my head every day is quite nice.”

Several witch sisters all voiced their uses for the Soul Dream State.

Unexpectedly, their experiments with the Soul Dream State were all unexpectedly... ordinary?

But thinking about it, it made sense.

Before the Fool’s Dreams moved into my Soul Dream State, and without those two Grand Spellbooks, I didn’t have many uses for the Soul Dream State either.

It was suitable for research into the Dream Domain, but in other fields, the Soul Dream State was just a patch of illusory ”imaginary dream” that could not be used for reality simulation.

“In that case, can I borrow it? I really need to use this to bring a shock to them at that tea party!”

“Um... naturally you can, but don’t break it. This is the first portion of Dream-state Soul-substance I made; I originally intended to keep it as a collection. If you truly want to use Dream-state Soul-substance to do some experiments... you’ll need to wait a bit longer. The next batch can be harvested in a while.”

“Really? That’s great! Thank you, Little Han Hahaha! Our Primal Dream State research field can finally stand tall!”

At this moment, this witch was so excited she wished she could give me a couple of kisses, but I politely declined.

“Ah I forgot. Little Han, you are the proposer and discoverer of the Dream-state Soul-substance concept! And the first Lesser Witch to prepare Dream-state Soul-substance. I feel it’s very necessary to take you along to attend that tea party as well!”

“Me? I think I’ll pass. Besides, I haven’t completed the theoretical verification; I have no idea what I should say......”

“It’s fine, it’s fine! I’ll go up and speak. You just need to sit there and wait for me to point at you, then you become the focus of the whole crowd and enjoy their envious gazes! That’s what I’m aiming for!”

“Ha?”

I looked at this witch sister with a face full of question marks.

Has this person’s bad taste reached the point of being taken to a formal academic tea party?

“No, no... I don’t want to become a link in your bad taste...”

“As expected... what a pity...”

“It’s not a pity... Actually, I can’t go over. After all, as you all know, I am maintaining the Primal Dream State laboratory; I cannot leave this place right now.”

I had no choice but to use this excuse to decline.

If it weren’t for this place, I would have wanted to go see it in the form of a clone, as I haven’t really attended this kind of tea party much.

“Alright, True, I was being inconsiderate. Then... let it be so.”

This witch sister could only sigh like this, without pushing too hard.

Fortunately, she had obtained what could be counted as the currently unique specimen of Dream-state Soul-substance!

Nothing was more precious than this!

“Right, Little Han, can that Fool’s Dream be lent to me for research?”

“That won’t do.”

I shook my head in absolute refusal.

After all, regarding the Fool’s Dreams, this was my bottom line; it was impossible to let them be given away to be researched like experimental subjects.

“Alright then... I want to ask, if I want to pre-order a portion of Dream-state Soul-substance, what do I need to pay? I really want a portion to research!”

“Yes, yes, yes! I want a portion too!”

“Um... can you describe how this is purified? I want to try obtaining Dream-state Soul-substance through Nightmare purification too!”

“Hey, hey! You’re going too far, aren’t you? You’re just asking for that kind of technique straight out?”

“Ah... sorry, I was just too excited and lost my head a bit.”

“Listen to me, it’s not that I don’t want to teach, but if I taught this technique, you wouldn’t be able to use it anyway.”

I spoke up at this moment, following their topic.

As soon as I finished, they understood.

There was no technique that couldn’t be learned, only techniques that couldn’t be used once learned, and this situation generally referred to... derivative techniques of a Grand Spellbook.

At this point, everyone understood and stopped mentioning teaching the technique.

Without some capital, it truly could not be used.

This wasn’t like techniques like the Great Knowledge Sharing Technique; those were used with the power of a Grand Spellbook like the Seed of Great Knowledge as a medium.

After these concepts like Dream-state Soul-substance were gradually accepted, I returned to my original experimental table.

Everyone was a mature academic witch; once they encountered something new, they would look into it themselves, only coming over to consult with an open mind when they truly didn’t understand.

Moreover, the Dream-state Soul-substance specimen I lent out only required that it wasn’t damaged.

Actually, some observational data recording and experiments on natural characteristic evaporation could still be conducted.

While the other witches were doing their own things, at this moment, I was discussing the major matters concerning the Fool’s Dream race afterward with the four little ones!

After all, if I wanted the Fool’s Dreams to become a life, then the Fool’s Dreams needed to define what kind of life they would become?

Perhaps many lives exist in this world that shouldn’t exist, but even so, they have a reason for existing.

The Fool’s Dreams should be the same.

However, compared to discussing these very empty matters, I actually chatted with the Fool’s Dreams about more practical things, such as... the racial concept atop the Fool’s Dream soul essence, and the corresponding bloodline information of the physical shell in reality.

Even for the simplest life forms, they all possessed racial concepts and bloodline information inscribed upon their life essence.

Even a creature like an Abyssal Worm, which curled up like a ball of meat, could be a life; this was enough to prove how low the threshold for life was.

But a low threshold didn’t mean a newborn life was easy to create.

The lower the threshold of a life form, the more likely it was to be spontaneously nurtured within the Void world, using that species as a progenitor to evolve even more different racial progenitors.

It wasn’t yet others’ turn to intervene in the creation of these lives.

Therefore, the methods I currently understood regarding the creation of brand-new lives were basically all based on existing species and races as templates, performing racial intervention to give birth to a newborn race.

I looked at the Fool’s Dreams, then looked for a template of a cat-girl... actually, borrowing one wasn’t impossible for me.

However, bestowing the cat-ear characteristics of a cat-girl upon the Fool’s Dreams was my personal selfish whim.

The Fool’s Dreams usually rarely displayed cat-like characteristics.

If I truly used a cat-girl as a template, it would be equivalent to passively bestowing a portion of the cat-girl racial concept and bloodline information upon the Fool’s Dreams.

Maybe the Fool’s Dreams afterward might develop cat habits, like... um... a speech quirk of adding ”meow”?

However, the Fool’s Dreams were completely indifferent to this.

After all, for them, as long as they could become life, their threshold could be lowered infinitely.

One could say the upper limit of freedom was the upper limit of a person’s cognition.

The Fool’s Dreams were no exception.

It was like a group of aboriginals wanting to enter modern society; their bottom line was only being able to eat and drink well and having a place to live.

Talking to them about blessings, human rights, and such—they wouldn’t understand.

Only in the process of their integration, after experiencing the hardships following their new birth, would they understand the true meaning of freedom.

Actually, I was also conceiving a brand-new special race not defined by appearance, bloodline, or other factors.

And the template was the witch race.

Because of the external race transformation characteristic of the witch race, many bloodline branch witches such as Elf Witches, Holy Angel Witches, Succubus Witches, and so on could be seen among the witch race.

Are they Elves?

Are they Holy Angels?

No, they are witches.

This required a race to have extremely strong inclusivity for bloodlines to achieve.

I wanted to preserve the cat-girl appearance of the Fool’s Dreams, but I also didn’t want to deprive the Fool’s Dreams of the right to give up this posture.

Even if all the current Fool’s Dreams would not refute their cat-girl form selves, they would eventually have ones who didn’t like it in the future.

This wasn’t so-called betrayal; since I chose to give the Fool’s Dreams freedom, then I naturally wouldn’t expect all of them to live for me.

This was the break-away of life from the mental shackles forced upon them!

Theoretically speaking, I should be happy for this.

After establishing psychological expectations and a simple plan, the Fool’s Dreams and I also began to simply enter a state of practice—specifically, directly attempting to bestow racial concepts.

And once I reached this step, I discovered that the Soul Depiction technique seemed a bit strained regarding this.

After all, every profession has its specialty.

The Soul Depiction technique functioned more in the aspect of soul shaping, and this shaping also encompassed the process of soul-substance sublimating into a soul.

But regarding the depiction of racial concepts and bloodline information atop the soul essence, it appeared... insufficiently refined.

To use an analogy, Soul Depiction was like a phone production line, using raw materials (soul-substance) to piece together a phone (soul), but the most core operating system (racial concept) and chips (bloodline information) of the phone and so on could not be hand-crafted by relying on these tools.

Of course, this was just an analogy.

The real situation might be even more complex than this.

Facing this situation, I was actually more inclined to create a brand-new technique specifically for this.

I had made it through the metamorphosis from the Mimetic Soul to the Soul Depiction technique, and then to the perfection and birth of Wisdom Bestowal.

I couldn’t give up now at the final threshold, nor could I settle for less.

Much less could I feel that these achievements were enough.

One could say my greed in this aspect was displayed vividly.

And I did this only for the words I had spoken: ”I want to give the Fool’s Dreams the best!”

As for a brand-new technique... I now had a hint of a lead.

If I said my previous conception for the Soul Depiction technique was to ”define soul life,” then this current technique was for the sake of ”refining the concept of life” on that foundation.

How to refine it?

I would refine it exactly how those brand-new races were refined.

Therefore, this unborn technique had its name from the very beginning—”Life Evolution.”

If one were to slowly ”edit” a life from scratch, it might never end even when the life reached its limit.

But when a systematic system gradually ”evolved” under the influence of external forces, the individual will could dominate this evolutionary process.

This was the reason why I said earlier that the Fool’s Dreams needed an existing racial template.

Creating life—no one dared to say they could start from zero.

Perhaps only the Void itself had the qualification to do so, while we living beings ourselves were merely interfering with its process during this course.

Even an existence claiming to have created a brand-new life merely added his personal will during the course of the Void’s evolution; in essence, it was also merely a coincidence of seizing the Void’s own evolutionary trajectory.

Of course, this way of putting it was too broad.

So-called meaning was endowed by life; there was no need to stand from the perspective of the Void and describe everything as meaningless.

Life itself was meaningful, and a brand-new life progenitor represented... the first broadening of the recognizable racial boundaries within the Void.

Transforming the unrecognizable into the recognizable—this was the derivative meaning of the existence of life, and also the ultimate pursuit life endowed upon itself.
