Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 1640: Chapter 972: Shang Di’s Ability

“Alright, from now on you count as one of us.”

Liang Yuan waved his hand, directly melted the ice layer, and the chill dispersed.

Shang Di didn’t dare to melt the ice on his own; he only begged for mercy: “Master spared my life, this subordinate will never forget it even in death. This time I offended Master, please punish me.”

Liang Yuan secretly marveled at how overbearing the Soul Imprisonment Rune was, then said calmly: “Enough, what happened before is over. Have your people lay down their weapons immediately and go arrange for the Divine Country to surrender!”

“Hong Tianyi, get ready to take over the Divine Country’s Floating Islands.”

“This subordinate obeys.”

“Yes, Master.”

The two of them replied quickly.

Liang Yuan glanced at Shang Di and asked, “Right, I’ve got a few questions for you.”

Shang Di bent over in fear and hurriedly said, “Please ask, Master. I will tell you everything I know.”

In just this short time, without Liang Yuan’s frost and chill to Control him, he had already recovered most of the way; the wounds on his body had all vanished.

“What exactly is up with your Superpower?”

“I saw you seem to be able to mobilize your believers’ Wish Power to fight?”

Liang Yuan asked.

Shang Di hurriedly said, “Master, my ability is the Power of Faith.”

“Power of Faith?”

“Yes. As long as others believe in me—the more they trust me—the stronger my ability becomes.”

“It was like this from the start, and later after I condensed my Genetic Species, this ability turned into the Power of Faith.”

“The more people believe in me, the stronger I become. Even some special Superpowers I didn’t originally have—once people believe I have them, I can master them.”

“For example, this Super Healing ability of mine is actually because my believers, they believe I am a Divine Being and that I won’t die.”

“So I grasped this Power. Their Power of Faith can repair my body without limit. As long as the Power of Faith is strong enough, I could even really survive in a Space turbulence zone.”

After listening, Liang Yuan and Hong Tianyi couldn’t help being a bit shocked.

Hong Tianyi couldn’t hold back: “So what you’re saying is, you, this con man ‘god’, really are strong only because they believe in you?”

Shang Di grovelled toward Liang Yuan, but toward Hong Tianyi he didn’t feel much fear.

He slanted a look at Hong Tianyi and sneered: “If the Master wasn’t here, you think you’d still be alive today?”

“My believers believe in me. All the Wish Power in the wishes and prayers they make to me becomes my endlessly flowing energy.”

“Flame, water flow, tremendous strength and other Superpowers—so long as they believe I can use them, I can manifest them through Wish Power.”

“Even if they believe I’m omnipotent, then I will truly be omnipotent.”

Hearing this, Hong Tianyi immediately let out a cold laugh: “So in their hearts, you’re still not omnipotent, huh?”

“Otherwise, how could you lose to the Master this badly?”

Shang Di was instantly furious, turned his head and said: “People’s hearts change. Most of them are selfish and self-serving. Only when they’re truly in danger, when they’re at a dead end, will they really believe in me unconditionally.”

“Otherwise, you think my Wish Power would only be this little?”

Saying this, Shang Di was also helpless in his heart. The Divine Country’s population wasn’t small; it had already exceeded fifty thousand.

But the Wish Power these fifty thousand people could provide actually wasn’t all that impressive.

Because a considerable portion of them didn’t have pure faith in him as their god; most were half-believing, half-doubting.

Many times, they were just paying him lip service with a few words of praise.

You have to know, among the survivors who’ve lived till now, how many are truly idiots?

These people aren’t easy to fool.

Actually, the simplest method is the pyramid-scheme model, to brainwash the Divine Country’s populace.

And in practice, within the Divine Country’s territory, Shang Di was indeed implementing exactly that.

So over these years his Wish Power kept increasing, which was the main reason he dared to challenge the Jingzhou Military District.

But the further things went, the faster Superpower Users evolved, and everyone’s Spirit Attribute kept getting higher.

And the higher the Spirit Attribute, the harder it is to brainwash them.

So when the Divine Country recruited outsiders, its recruitment policy actually wasn’t about wanting the stronger the better.

On the contrary, the more ordinary, the more old, weak, sick, and disabled they were, the more the Divine Country liked to take them in.

And the more they did this, the better their reputation became outside.

You could say, back when the budding organization’s territory was being ravaged by Jin Shirong, many of the victims eventually fled to the Divine Country.

Liang Yuan felt a lot of complicated emotions in his heart.

“This guy’s ability really is exactly like Hong Tianyi said—born to be a con-man preacher.”

“If you actually let him keep expanding, with more and more believers, he might really Cultivation his way into an omnipotent god.”

“It’s a pity. Under the Flood Apocalypse too many people died. With not enough population, it’s naturally hard for him to spread his faith.”

In a sense, Shang Di’s ability was very similar to his own current route of using Shelter residents to help record Points.

Both relied on the advantage of strength in numbers.

The difference was, Liang Yuan walked the Weapon path: as long as people used the weapons produced by his Weapon Factory to kill mutant creatures, the Points would land on him.

But Shang Di had to gain other people’s faith to become stronger.

“Good thing this guy doesn’t know the Soul Imprisonment Rune. If he got hold of the Soul Imprisonment Rune, wouldn’t he be able to manipulate countless people?”

Liang Yuan was all too aware of how powerful the Soul Imprisonment Rune was. Once controlled by it, you would sincerely recognize the other party as your Master from the depths of your heart.

This kind of faith is true unconditional faith.

Liang Yuan said, “Alright, alright. Your ability is indeed rare. If you were given time to slowly grow your believers, you really would have a bright future.”

Shang Di sighed helplessly: “Master, it’s not that I don’t want to quietly develop. It’s that my Divine Country has already grown to its limit; the population has stabilized.”

“If I want more people, I can only expand outward.”

Hong Tianyi immediately couldn’t hold back: “Why didn’t you expand south instead of coming to expand into our Jingzhou—looking down on us?”

Shang Di gave him a sideways glance and said blandly: “Of course. You don’t really think your Jingzhou Shelters are all that impressive, do you?”

“Long before I planned to expand toward your Jingzhou, I’d already investigated your Jingzhou forces.”

“Although your Jingzhou Military is fairly strong, you have too many internal divisions, too many factions.”

“You, this so-called leader—in my eyes, are completely useless.”

“In the Divine Country, if I say ‘one’, no one dares say ‘two’. There isn’t even anyone who openly agrees but secretly defies.”

“What about you? Can you achieve that level in your Military District?”

Hong Tianyi’s face instantly turned extremely dark, and he was left speechless.

Indeed, before Liang Yuan infiltrated the Jingzhou Military District, internal splits in the Jingzhou Army were severe.

This was almost the most fatal weakness of the Jingzhou Army.

If Hong Tianyi had truly been able to Control the Jingzhou Army, then in their first clash with the Divine Country, Shang Di might already have been captured.

Thinking of this, Liang Yuan suddenly asked: “By the way, why did you lose in your first battle against Hong Tianyi?”

Shang Di said helplessly: “At first I didn’t know Hong Tianyi’s Superpower could hit me with a one-hundred-percent success rate. And when I attacked the Jingzhou Military District, I pushed too deep in; I was too far from the Divine Country.”

“What do you mean by ‘too far from the Divine Country’?” Liang Yuan asked, puzzled.

Shang Di gave a bitter smile: “Actually my Wish Power ability has a very big limitation, which is that I can’t get too far from the Divine Country.”

“Wish Power is provided by my Divine Country believers. The farther the distance, the more the Wish Power weakens.”

“You could say that within the Divine Country I’m almost invincible, but once I leave the Divine Country, the farther I get, the more sharply my strength drops.”

After hearing this, Liang Yuan suddenly understood.

Put that way, the flaw in Shang Di’s ability was enormous.
