Chapter 1623: Chapter 955: Alliance with Wang Zhiyuan

“General Hong, when the time comes, should we first test Hou Jianjun’s attitude or directly take him down and force him to sign the Bone Covenant?” Wang Zhiyuan excitedly asked Hong Tianyi.

Hong Tianyi glanced at Wang Zhiyuan and smiled: “What do you think?”

“It depends on you, General Hong. If you feel confident persuading Hou Jianjun, it’s naturally best not to resort to force.”

“But if you think there’s a risk, then we might as well strike first! Taking him down directly would at least catch him off guard.”

A gleam appeared in Wang Zhiyuan’s eyes as he said: “Hou Jianjun definitely wouldn’t expect us to dare to attack on his Sea Star Island. With the strength of the two of us, it shouldn’t be hard to take him down instantly.”

Hong Tianyi thought for a moment and said: “No need, I actually feel somewhat confident about persuading Hou Jianjun.”

“You really have confidence? Once we disclose our true intentions, he will surely be on guard.”

“If we act at that point, it might be too late.”

Hong Tianyi chuckled and said: “Relax, I’m confident in handling him.”

Seeing Hong Tianyi say this, Wang Zhiyuan decided not to say more and smiled: “Alright, General Hong, as long as you have confidence, it’s fine. After all, we are already allied, and we will advance and retreat together.”

While speaking, the two groups had already arrived at Sea Star Island.

Soon, someone came up to welcome them and led them to the reception hall.

Before long, Hou Jianjun hurried over.

Seeing Hong Tianyi and Wang Zhiyuan, he smiled and said: “General Hong, General Wang, please have a seat.”

While speaking, he had already scanned the surroundings and saw Liang Yuan among the crowd.

Liang Yuan slightly shook his head at him, signaling not to act hastily.

Hou Jianjun immediately understood and began to entertain Hong Tianyi and Wang Zhiyuan according to his usual principles.

Hong Tianyi and Wang Zhiyuan exchanged glances.

Wang Zhiyuan sipped a cup of tea without speaking.

Hong Tianyi knew Wang Zhiyuan was waiting for him to speak.

He then smiled and said to Hou Jianjun: “General Hou, you’ve played a significant role in bringing down Kerry Technology.”

“Next, we’re going to handle the Divine Country. At that time, we’ll need your cooperation from that side, launching a pincer attack on the Divine Country from both the north and south, capturing Shangdi, the god of the Divine Country!”

Hou Jianjun nodded: “General Hong, rest assured, Kerry Technology is completely under my control now, ready to rally forces for an attack at any moment.”

Hong Tianyi nodded slightly and said: “That’s good. However, General Hou, before acting, I actually have some concerns.”

Hou Jianjun cooperatively asked: “Oh? What concerns?”

Hong Tianyi sighed: “You know, last time so many of us from Jingzhou attacked the Divine Country, yet Shangdi escaped, and I got slightly injured in the process.”

“With the strength of our Jingzhou Military District, dealing with the small Divine Country shouldn’t have been difficult at all.”

“But an error occurred unexpectedly. I think you, General Hou, can see the reasons clearly, right?”

Hou Jianjun fell into slight silence without speaking.

He naturally knew Hong Tianyi was referring to the interference from Lu Yuanshan and Jiang Wenbin’s forces.

But now he couldn’t express any opinion.

Only by pretending to be silent would he fit his persona.

He remained neutral, aiding no one.

Seeing Hou Jianjun not speaking, Wang Zhiyuan became anxious.

He couldn’t help but put his teacup down and said in a low voice: “General Hou, you’re an insider, you surely can see that last time Jiang Wenbin and Lu Yuanshan deliberately let Shangdi escape.”

“These two are harboring mischief, hoping to see General Hong and Shangdi suffer mutual destruction.”

“If matters develop as they hoped, Mr. Hong would be left defenseless, and they would seize power.”

“Have you considered what you’ll do then?”

“Those two bastards are born into privilege, what do they know of our hardships at the bottom?”

“Even if you join them, you’ll still be looked down upon.”

“If you don’t voice your opinion now, you’ll have no chance to voice it in the future.”

Wang Zhiyuan’s words clearly carried a threatening tone.

Hou Jianjun cooperatively ‘changed his expression drastically’, looking up at Wang Zhiyuan and then at Hong Tianyi.

He then gravely asked: “What do you two want to do?”

Before Hong Tianyi could speak, Wang Zhiyuan couldn’t hold back and exclaimed excitedly: “To eliminate external threats, we must first resolve internal issues, do you understand this principle?”

“If we want to unite wholeheartedly against the Divine Country, we must first solve the internal problems.”

“General Hong and I plan to first take down Lu Yuanshan and Jiang Wenbin, only then will our Jingzhou Military District be truly unified, Hou Jianjun, now it’s up to you.”

“Can we count on you to join us?”

Wang Zhiyuan stared intently at Hou Jianjun.

Hong Tianyi glanced at Wang Zhiyuan, amused at heart.

Wang Zhiyuan was even more anxious than he was.

Luckily, this was a fake alliance with him, otherwise, with Wang Zhiyuan’s current attitude, the leadership position in this alliance might not necessarily be under Hong Tianyi’s control.

Hou Jianjun looked at Wang Zhiyuan and suddenly asked: “Do you trust me that much?”

Wang Zhiyuan replied: “If we didn’t trust you, why would we come to you?”

Hou Jianjun asked: “General Hong, you two have already formed an alliance?”

Hong Tianyi nodded slightly: “General Wang and I have established an alliance, now we just need you.”

Wang Zhiyuan hastily said: “Hou Jianjun, you’re also from outside the province, there’s no way you’ll be favored by Lu Yuanshan and Jiang Wenbin here.”

“They must have tried to recruit you before, but you should know such offers are false. They are local and privileged, and they look down on people like us.”

“You must think carefully.”

Hou Jianjun thought for a moment, then suddenly asked: “I have a question.”

“Go ahead.”

“In this alliance of ours, who is the leader?”

Wang Zhiyuan was slightly taken aback, subconsciously glancing at Hong Tianyi.

He then quickly said: “Of course, it’s General Hong.”

Hou Jianjun looked at Wang Zhiyuan and asked: “But why do I feel you’re more proactive?”

Wang Zhiyuan was instantly surprised, belatedly realizing that he had indeed overstepped earlier, speaking too much.

According to the plan he and Hong Tianyi discussed, it was supposed to be Hong Tianyi persuading Hou Jianjun.

Now, the task of persuasion was inadvertently taken on by him.

Hong Tianyi also gave him a look, Wang Zhiyuan’s heart skipped, quickly explaining: “General Hong, I wasn’t, I just… got anxious.”

Hong Tianyi shook his head slightly and said: “No need to say more, General Wang, I trust you. General Hou, please give us your word.”

“You’ve seen how I, Hong Tianyi, do things; I will certainly not treat my own people unfairly.”

“If you join us, you are one of us.”

Hou Jianjun nodded and said: “Joining you isn’t a problem, but words are not enough. How can I trust you?”

Hong Tianyi immediately turned to Wang Zhiyuan and said: “General Wang.”

Wang Zhiyuan laughed and took out the already prepared Bone Covenant, saying: “General Hou, look what this is!”

Amid Hou Jianjun’s puzzled inquiry, Wang Zhiyuan explained the function of the Bone Covenant in his hand.

After hearing this, Hou Jianjun smiled: “With this, our cooperation is guaranteed. But I need one more condition.”

Wang Zhiyuan quickly asked: “What condition?”

Hou Jianjun said: “In this alliance of ours, I’m here for General Hong. So this alliance must be led by General Hong, and General Wang, you and I must follow orders, absolutely cannot act on our own; otherwise, if there are conflicts, this alliance would have no reason to exist.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Zhiyuan immediately said: “Okay, I have no objections.”

Hong Tianyi smiled and said: “Thank you both for trusting me, so shall we swear the alliance right now.”

“Alright!”

The three immediately re-established the Bone Covenant and swore the alliance again.
