From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 1065: Chapter 1061: Nothing Special (Third Update)

”Not bad, seems quite sincere!” Liu Chengzhi nodded.

”But... her restaurant was opened with another man’s money, and they’re not even married yet!”

Mrs. Liu hesitated a bit. Mu Shuangshuang indeed seemed pretty good, but just like Qingqing said, she was too scheming.

Such a person would be a disaster if kept around.

”That’s just hearsay! The teacher said, we shouldn’t judge people by appearances, but by their inner qualities! Besides, we haven’t interacted with this woman, so we aren’t clear about what she’s really like!”

As Liu Chengzhi spoke, he kept his eyes fixed on Mu Qingqing.

At that moment, his youthful face showed maturity, and Mu Qingqing didn’t dare to meet his gaze, instead lowering her head to look at her toes.

”Alright, Zhi’er, I know you have misunderstandings about Qingqing, but she is, after all, your sister, and she’s already had a hard time. Don’t target her anymore!” Mrs. Liu interrupted Liu Chengzhi.

Generally speaking, Mrs. Liu acted as Mu Qingqing’s amulet.

Mu Qingqing knew this, so most of the time, she just needed to please Mrs. Liu!

Mu Qingqing occupied a pot in the kitchen, cooking three dishes and a soup, which wasn’t too difficult for her, but making all three people present satisfied was somewhat challenging.

Fortunately, she previously learned about Mrs. Liu’s preferences.

After burning three incense sticks of time, Mu Shuangshuang finished frying three dishes, and for the remaining soup, she hesitated for a moment and simply made a vegetable soup.

A soup as simple as possible, yet Mu Shuangshuang inexplicably felt confident.

The dishes were personally delivered upstairs by Mu Shuangshuang, with the little waiter afraid she couldn’t manage, personally escorting them to the outside of the private room.

He only breathed a sigh of relief once Mu Shuangshuang entered the room.

”Three dishes and a soup, all home-style dishes, please savor them slowly!”

Of the three dishes Mu Shuangshuang prepared, one was bracken picked in the spring from the mountains, stir-fried with cured meat, another was steamed bass, and the last one was braised chicken.

None of the dishes were particularly difficult, and Mrs. Liu approached it with an open mind to try them.

The moment the dishes reached her mouth, Mrs. Liu was astonished.

The cured meat was fragrant, the bracken had a lovely texture, and even the bass tasted exceptionally fresh.

The braised chicken was the dish Mrs. Liu ate the most, followed by the simplest vegetable soup.

Mrs. Liu never imagined she could taste such delicious dishes again, to the point she considered poaching the head chef from Chengfeng Restaurant.

The three dishes and one soup were completely devoured by the three individuals.

Mu Shuangshuang had someone bring them a pot of tea, not the usual Biluochun or Tieguanyin, but buckwheat tea instead.

The color of the buckwheat tea was golden, completely different from ordinary tea.

While sipping the buckwheat tea, Mrs. Liu asked Mu Shuangshuang again, ”This is...?”

”Buckwheat tea, specially made from buckwheat seeds, a tea exclusive to our Chengfeng Restaurant!” Mu Shuangshuang replied.

Mrs. Liu realized that the more she interacted with Mu Shuangshuang, the more mysterious she seemed, almost as if she could do anything.

They had arrived before the restaurant’s usual mealtime, but now it was the peak dining time.

Looking down from the second floor, they could even see quite a few people queuing.

The business here seemed indeed good.

It’s just a pity that the place was too small; to have a meal, one would likely have to wait for others to finish first.

”Godmother... these dishes weren’t made by the restaurant’s staff but by my cousin!”

Mu Qingqing, satisfied and wiping her mouth, still wanted to find an excuse to trap Mu Shuangshuang.

Her implication was that Mu Shuangshuang lied, because she previously claimed the staff prepared the dishes.

It happened that Mrs. Liu disliked those who lied.

”Is what Qingqing said true?” Mrs. Liu asked!

”Yes, it was me, but I am also a staff member of the restaurant, serving as the chef and the owner.

There’s no choice, the restaurant is a small business, hiring people costs a lot, and my partner and I don’t have much to do, so when we’re not busy at home, we help out here.”

What Mu Shuangshuang said was also reasonable.

After all, Chengfeng Restaurant couldn’t compare to Jiu Si Xuan in town or Xue Yi’s First-class Residence from before.

The two of them, as owners, operated as backstage bosses, just needing to collect money.

But she and Fengzi couldn’t, they had to stay hands-on with the restaurant.

Mrs. Liu nodded in understanding.

Mu Shuangshuang noticed that she didn’t mention whether she would hand over the birthday banquet and didn’t want to beat around the bush with Mrs. Liu.

”Madam, I have something I want to say to you,” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”Oh?”

”Before coming to our restaurant, you must have visited quite a few others, right? Our Chengfeng Restaurant, apart from scale, isn’t lacking in other aspects, be it the dishes or the service, compared to others.

The reason I’m saying this is to fight for this opportunity for the restaurant. If you trust me, you can entrust the banquet to our Chengfeng Restaurant.

We promise to arrange it meticulously, and your guests won’t feel the slightest discomfort.”

Mu Shuangshuang continued, ”Of course, if you find it unsuitable, that’s okay! I believe in the strength of our restaurant; even without this opportunity, we will sooner or later be accepted by more people!”

Most of Mrs. Liu’s guests were wealthy landlords or merchants from the town.

Mu Shuangshuang thought that obtaining this opportunity could let more people learn about Chengfeng Restaurant.

Additionally, it would allow them to promote their high-end dishes more.

Still, this was a chance she tried for; the outcome wasn’t within her control.

Mu Shuangshuang’s words were neither servile nor overbearing.

To Mrs. Liu, it was intriguing.

However, a part of her was still hesitant, not knowing if she should follow her heart and give this chance to Mu Shuangshuang.

The atmosphere felt somewhat oppressive, with Mu Qingqing continuously staring at Mrs. Liu.

She was terrified that Mrs. Liu might agree to give the hosting rights of the birthday banquet to Mu Shuangshuang.

If so, Mrs. Liu would undoubtedly view Mu Shuangshuang in a different light.

But Mu Qingqing overthought it, for Mrs. Liu spoke at the last moment: ”I’m sorry, we might still consider another restaurant.

The lunch dishes were delicious, let me pay you for them!”

Expecting a similar outcome, Mu Shuangshuang wasn’t too disappointed.

Instead, she felt a sense of relief.

The so-called famous Mrs. Liu from Qingshan Town wasn’t so impressive after all!

”Since these dishes aren’t on the menu, just pay what you feel is right!” Mu Shuangshuang smiled lightly.

Having people eat without paying, except when she willingly agreed, even the emperor himself would have to pay!

Mrs. Liu hoped to see a hint of disappointment in Mu Shuangshuang’s eyes but found none.

Mu Shuangshuang was still smiling, not in the least bit feigned.

She took out five taels of silver from her purse and handed it to Mu Shuangshuang.

The three left Chengfeng Restaurant.

Meanwhile, with the silver in hand, Mu Shuangshuang became increasingly intrigued about how Mu Qingqing managed to make her mark.
