Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2288: Chapter 2297: Suddenly Asked About Enna Clark

”Hiss—” The disinfectant poured over the scab and quickly emitted a sizzling sound. Just hearing that sound made one feel a bone-deep pain.

”Ugh.”

The man sitting upright on the sofa let out a muffled groan, his handsome face turning pale as paper.

His hand rested on the pillow beside him, veins bulging on the back of his hand.

One could sense how hard he was trying to endure the pain.

The moment the disinfectant hit was excruciatingly painful.

”Young Master Lawrence...”

Baron Lawrence abruptly closed his eyes, seemingly squeezing out two words through clenched teeth, ”Continue!”

”...Yes.” The chief surgeon gritted his teeth, instructed the medical staff to prepare, cleaned the wound, then picked up the scalpel and began the tense procedure of extracting the bullet from the man’s shoulder.

This kind of bullet extraction surgery was originally a major operation.

Normally, it would require thorough preparation in the hospital’s operating room to perform.

But Baron Lawrence insisted on having it done.

These top experts had no choice but to proceed.

Fortunately, after examining his wound, the chief surgeon found that the bullet had narrowly missed hitting a particularly dangerous area, just barely avoiding the part where the arm’s nerves concentrated.

Time ticked by.

In the whole Presidential Suite, besides the ticking of the quartz clock on the wall, there was only the sound of everyone’s heavy breathing.

The operation took a full two hours before the doctor successfully extracted the bullet from his shoulder.

As the bloody, flesh-covered bullet was extracted, the doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead and began to stitch the wound.

Once the bullet was out, the rest was much simpler.

The doctor focused intently on suturing the operation, and after applying the anti-inflammatory medication to the wound, medical staff immediately bandaged Baron Lawrence.

After everything was done.

The doctor’s tense nerves finally relaxed, ”Alright, Young Master Lawrence, the bullet has been removed. I’ll give you an IV drip of some anti-inflammatory medication first.”

Perhaps fearing Baron Lawrence would reject it as a waste of time, he quickly emphasized, ”This anti-inflammatory drug is essential. Without it, Young Master Lawrence, your body might not hold up. And having just finished the surgery, the wound on your left shoulder could easily become inflamed. If it becomes inflamed, it could become even more dangerous, which would waste more of your time. This bottle of anti-inflammatory drug won’t take long to infuse; for your health, it’s best to have it.”

”Lord...” Scott Harris was worried he would refuse again.

Baron Lawrence furrowed his brow, also finding it troublesome. He opened his eyes and, suppressing his impatience, said, ”Do it, but get it done as quickly as possible.”

Hearing his agreement, Scott Harris was overjoyed and, without further ado, immediately said, ”Alright.”

Fearing Baron Lawrence would change his mind, he quickly instructed the medical staff to set up the IV drip for him.

Once the liquid flowed into the man’s body, he finally relaxed.

”Lord, would you like some hot porridge? I’ll have someone prepare it.”

”No.” Baron Lawrence had no appetite now; his nerves were tightly strung. Even with the anesthetic, he could still feel a vague discomfort in his shoulder. Most importantly, the side effects of Z-11 were too potent; his stomach was burning intensely, leaving him with no appetite.

Baron Lawrence felt the signs of a fire starting in his lower abdomen. He rubbed his temples, leaned back against the soft cushion of the sofa, and suddenly asked, ”Where is Enna Clark now? Is she up?”
