Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1243: Chapter 1243: Am I Still Your Daughter? Chapter 1243: Chapter 1243: Am I Still Your Daughter? Scarlett was still feigning illness on the soft Sealy mattress, while the Female Officer beside her fed her water.

Suddenly, a servant rushed in, “Your Highness Princess, Your Highness Princess…”

Before Scarlett could speak, the Female Officer by her side immediately understood her intent and scolded with a stern face, “What is this commotion? Can’t you see Her Highness is not feeling well?”

“It’s… Prince Willie has returned, he is now downstairs drinking coffee with Young Master Lyle, asking for Your Highness to join them.”

“What did you say? My Daddy is back?” Scarlett’s expression changed rapidly, a hint of panic flashing through her almond eyes.

“Yes, Prince Willie has just returned to the country,” the servant replied honestly, unaware of her panic.

Scarlett’s fingers involuntarily clutched at the bedsheets beneath her, her gaze flickering wildly.

The Female Officer was no better off than her, her complexion equally pallid, with most of the color drained from her lips.

However, Scarlett, at least, was much more composed than the Female Officer. Meeting the servant’s puzzled look, she slightly lifted her chin, “I understand; I will change into another dress and come down. You may go now.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

The servant left.

The Female Officer immediately asked in a panic, “Princess, what do we do now? Young Master Lyle must have told the Prince everything about the abandoned factory.”

Scarlett, of course, knew that Lyle had most likely tattled. She was already in a bad mood, and it got even worse when the Female Officer mentioned it. She glared at the Female Officer and said irritably, “Even if he did tell, so what? We just deny it.”

“But…”

“Does he have any proof?” Scarlett pursed her mouth and looked up at the Female Officer, “Aside from those people he had the Police officer arrest, he has no substantial evidence. We just need to insist that it was those people who kidnapped us, and as for what those people say…”

Her eyes narrowed, “The kidnappers, having been captured, are of course afraid of legal punishment. So they make up stories to shift the blame!”

With that said, her frantic heart gradually calmed down.

Right, they have no evidence – what can they do to her?

After calming down, she changed into a new dress and repeatedly threatened and warned the Female Officer not to slip up. Then she went downstairs.

Descending the spiral staircase, she indeed saw Lyle Westbrook, chatting over coffee with her Daddy.

Besides Lyle, that woman was also there.

The three of them sat in harmony, looking almost like a family, making her seem like the guest.

Scarlett clenched her teeth, filled with resentment, yet she put on a pale and frail facade. After she descended the stairs, she stood obediently in front of Prince Willie and called out weakly, “Daddy.”

Prince Willie did not soften at her frail call of Daddy. His sharp gaze appeared to see right through her, scrutinizing her face as he asked in a deep voice, “What have you been up to while I was away?”

“I…” Scarlett seemed taken aback, panicked, and then looked at him with innocent and pure almond eyes, “I didn’t do anything.”

“You didn’t do anything? Why did you run off? Didn’t I say you were to reflect properly at home these past few days?” demanded Prince Willie, his presence commanding.

Scarlett first looked at the dignified Princess Consort, then at Lyle Westbrook, before turning her gaze to Prince Willie. Her eyes suddenly reddened as if she had been greatly wronged, pre-emptively accusing, “Daddy, is this what you want to tell me after I was kidnapped and barely made it back? In your eyes, am I still your daughter? I’m really doubting now whether I’m just a surplus person.”
