Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1217: Chapter 1217: Lyle Westbrook, you best not muddy the waters Chapter 1217: Chapter 1217: Lyle Westbrook, you best not muddy the waters Lyle Westbrook took over the glass of water, took a sip, and moistened his throat.

The fishy-sweet taste in his throat was suppressed.

His rose-colored lips were slightly pale, making him look somewhat under the weather.

It was at this moment that his phone suddenly rang.

He didn’t need to reach for it; a subordinate had already handed it to him. Lyle indifferently took the phone, glanced at the Caller ID, furrowed his brow, paused for a moment, but still answered, “Hello.”

After about ten seconds of silence on the other end, the person suddenly said, “I didn’t want to call you originally. After going back last time, I swore I wouldn’t contact you again.”

That voice was—Emilia Goldsmith!

Emilia took a deep breath, as if she knew the man on the other end of the phone would be silent, and her beautiful face calmed down before she spoke, “The matter you asked me to look into last time, I’ve had someone check out what those few people are all about.”

“I’ll send you the information later, and you can see for yourself.”

Last time this man took the unprecedented step of asking her out, she was thrilled, and after getting dressed up for the meeting, she went from heaven to hell.

Lyle was asking for her help, and it was for Enna Clark. Using this as leverage, she got him to spend a day with her on a beach date. When she initiated a kiss, she was pushed away, and at that moment, she vowed to no longer be cheap, to no longer meddle in this man’s affairs.

But she still devilishly had someone check into the matter he had asked her to help with, and the results surprised her.

“Lyle Westbrook, I know you won’t like me anymore. As a mere friend, I still have to remind you, don’t get involved.”

“Hmm?”

“Just remember not to get involved. Your affection for her is useless, just like my affection for you is useless. She already has someone she likes, and Young Master Lawrence will protect her. You don’t need to muddy the waters.” After saying this, she hastily covered up her concern with, “I’m not worried about you, I just don’t want to see you get hurt as a friend.”

“That’s it, I’m hanging up.” Emilia, in an almost evasive manner, without waiting for a response from the person on the other end, hung up the phone directly.

Lyle only heard the rustling noise from the other end of the line before realizing she had hung up.

The fax machine chose this moment to buzz.

The subordinate who had poured him water immediately said, “Young Master Lyle, there’s something coming through.”

“Bring it to me!”

“Yes, sir.”

The subordinate quickly trotted over with the materials transmitted by the fax machine.

Lyle looked down at the information sent over by Emilia Goldsmith; the more he read, the tighter his brow knitted, the colder his expression became. When he reached the last page, his gaze narrowed sharply. He picked up that piece of paper and carefully read the content on it.

Then he handed the last page to the person standing beside him, who didn’t dare to breathe, and ordered with his rose-colored lips tightly drawn, “Verify the content on this paper immediately!”

“Right away, Young Master Lyle,” the subordinate said, taking it with both hands.

Just about to investigate,

He was called back, “And also, check the source of the online rumor about Scarlett and Baron Lawrence that surfaced before. Let me know as soon as you find out!”

Why would Young Master Lyle look into celebrity gossip? Could it be that he’s interested in entertainment scandals? The subordinate hadn’t observed this before.

Perplexed internally, the subordinate didn’t dare to slow his actions, “Yes, Young Master Lyle, I’ll look into it right away!”
