”Quick, tell me what the situation with the first trial is?” Just as Xu Jin finished reading the message that appeared before him, Ning Yuchan anxiously asked.

In an instant, Xu Jin realized that Ning Yuchan must have wanted to provide further guidance to the many participants before the autumn exam.

Seeing Ning Yuchan’s tense and anxious appearance, Xu Jin figured it out.

It seemed that the autumn exam was very important to Ning Yuchan too.

”We must secure a good ranking.”

As Xu Jin secretly made this decision, he also relayed the information about the Starlight that had just appeared before him to Ning Yuchan at the fastest speed.

Ning Yuchan pondered for just a few breaths and then clapped her hands to remind the many participating disciples.

”First, there’s no enemy kill count, which means there won’t be any enemies to kill in this selection trial. In other words, even if real enemies appear, you don’t need to kill them. Just pass quickly or go around without wasting time.

Second, dangers lurk in all directions, which is the second key point; various random dangers might appear, such as crossbow bolts, traps, and possibly even attacks from Star Beasts or enemies.

That is to say, there are two elements to passing this trial: within 100 breaths, to arrive alive at the military flag’s location!”

”Third, this trial, other than stating that you must reach the military flag’s position within 100 breaths, has no other rules. This means that in this trial, there are no rules.

During the run, especially in the final stages, whether you attack others or others act to slow your pace to achieve a higher ranking, it’s all within the rules.

Be aware of the risks brought by your fellow participants around you.”

”Okay, remember these three points, go ahead!” After Ning Yuchan’s rapid analysis, she let the disciples start the trial.

As Xu Jin nodded to indicate he had remembered, he suddenly realized: was Ning Yuchan, the Chief Instructor, acting as a coach on the field?

In the next instant, Xu Jin stepped forward, his figure entering the first trial that Starlight had just evolved below, as more information appeared.

[Autumn exam first trial, each person may choose one First Tier Star Weapon, with options including Star Weapon, Soft Armor, Light Armor, Heavy Armor, Arm Shield, Round Shield, Large Shield, Light Boots, Heavy Boots. Please choose within ten breaths.]

If it were purely a race of speed, then Light Boots would definitely be the choice.

But according to the rules Ning Yuchan had just interpreted, other options such as Star Weapon, Soft Armor, Arm Shield, Round Shield, and Light Armor could all be significant.

After considering for only two breaths, Xu Jin still chose Light Boots.

Whether for defense or offense, Xu Jin was completely confident in his Star Skill.

As Xu Jin made his choice, a pair of Light Boots appeared before him, identical to the Chasing Wind Boots he had used before, with the same function: to increase speed by 20%.

In the next instant, Xu Jin appeared on the edge of a vast plain.

The plain was extremely broad and oval-shaped; all the incoming disciples were at this edge.

Looking far into the distance, one could see that the plains several miles away were rapidly shrinking, with the farthest passage appearing extremely narrow.

Surrounding them, more and more disciples dressed in different colors from various Daoist Institutes descended, but not a single one was from the State Daoist Institute of their own region.

It seemed that the landing points were also random.

In the Da Chen National Daoist Institute’s autumn exam, the style of the disciples’ attire was uniform, but the necklines and cuffs varied by state.

The colors at the neckline and cuffs of Xu Jin’s Jinshan Taoist Institute, which belonged to Yan State, were crimson red.

In the sky, there hung a countdown made of Starlight.

breaths left before starting, Xu Jin internally calculated, estimating a breath to be about three seconds.

This meant that the final time limit of 100 breaths was actually 300 seconds.

The maximum duration to clear the first trial was five minutes.

Xu Jin glanced left and right; other disciples were also assessing him, with quite a few having chosen Star Weapons and many others Arm Shields.

Comparatively, those who chose Light Boots were the least.

The next moment, the countdown in the sky hit zero and leaped to a 100-breaths countdown.

Simultaneously, the light screen in front of all participating disciples vanished instantly.

The exam had started!

Almost the moment the light screen disappeared, Xu Jin’s feet flashed with Starlight, and he burst forth like lightning.

That burst covered sixty meters.

In a blink, he took a wide lead over the other disciples.

In just five breaths, after over twenty consecutive Flying Star Steps, Xu Jin had surged over two miles; the terrain ahead was becoming clearer, a passage only one meter wide.

The danger might be there.

Xu Jin briefly surveyed the exam group, and in just five breaths, they had spread apart in echelon.

He should be in the fastest group.

Because of the distance, it was difficult to determine, but there were less than a hundred people who were close to Xu Jin’s progress.

This meant Xu Jin had already burst into the top hundred.

But it wasn’t the end, and it was too early to tell.

Whizz, whizz, whizz, whizz!

The next moment, a piercing sound of arrows in flight rose.

A mass of arrows, tens of thousands in number, came hurtling down like a dense cloud.

Xu Jin’s expression changed, the Starlight Shield already covering his body, with an additional layer of Star Shield added, and two Star Ropes appeared in his left hand in an instant.

At least a dozen arrows were heading for Xu Jin.

This was an indiscriminate attack.

The Star Ropes swept past, shredding all the arrows before him.

Xu Jin’s speed was slightly hindered by this, but in the next instant, Flying Star Step burst forth again, heading straight for the narrow path ahead.

Five breaths later, another wave of arrows arrived, and Xu Jin repeated the same tactic.

In an instant, he stepped onto the narrow path ahead.
