Chapter 137 - 137: An Old Face

Curly-haired Guy: That old guy set up an ambush too?

Doujin Artist: And the one in hiding is Otsutsuki Hamura? That’s a seriously powerful backup!

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: So sneaky... trying to catch Anzen-san off guard?

Soul Society’s Bad Guy: For sure. But An saw right through it, so now he must be super embarrassed.

Machete Girl: Yeah, probably. His face even turned red.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Pretty embarrassing, honestly.

Doujin Artist: If it were me, I’d be looking for a hole to crawl into right now.

Wig Guy: A hole? Come on, someone his age couldn’t crawl into a hole even if he found one.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: ?

Machete Girl: ?

Doujin Artist: Wig Guy, are you sure you meant a normal kind of hole?

Wig Guy: It’s not ”Wig,” it’s Katsura!

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Let’s stop talking about holes and watch Anzen-san’s next move.

”What’s wrong? Surprised?”

Aizen glanced at the chat, his face calm as ever. ”Did you really think I wouldn’t notice your brother’s space-hiding technique? Or are you more worried... that I might’ve already figured out you sneaked into the Pure Land base six years ago?”

Frozen.

Otsutsuki Hagoromo stood there stunned, looking completely shocked. ”You... you knew?”

”Yeah, I know.” Aizen still had his eyes closed, speaking calmly and slowly. ”Back then, you were also using this rough space-hiding technique to secretly watch me run tests with the fake body.”

Silence.

Otsutsuki Hagoromo stared blankly at Aizen, looking completely lost.

”Big Brother, don’t let this guy’s words mess with your head!” Finally unable to hold back, Otsutsuki Hamura tore through space and stepped out to stand beside his brother.

Now, everyone watching the stream could clearly see: besides Hamura, that hidden space also held Nagato, Orochimaru, and Danzo.

”Oh, now that’s a familiar group of faces.” Aizen opened his eyes, his expression calm. ”It’s been a while, Danzo-sama, Orochimaru-senpai.”

”Hmph!” Danzo gave a cold snort, clearly annoyed. Orochimaru licked his lips and let out a creepy chuckle. ”Yeah, it’s been a while, Sosuke-kun. You’ve really pulled off something huge.”

”Something huge? What are you referring to?” Aizen smiled slightly, his voice soft and smooth.

Orochimaru sneered. ”I mean how you fooled the entire ninja world with your clever lies.”

”Fooled? Not really.” Aizen stood inside a dark red barrier, speaking in a calm tone. ”I never meant to lie. It’s just that none of you ever understood who I really am.”

”You’re good at twisting the truth!” Danzo glared at him, gritting his teeth.

”I’m just stating facts.” Aizen closed his eyes again and continued in the same calm voice, ”You people—so flawed and incomplete—you’re not even worth the effort of using tricky word games on.”

”Bastard!” Danzo’s face turned red with anger. He lifted his foot, about to rush into the barrier.

Swish.

But at that moment, a long blade suddenly came stabbing straight at him.

Caught off guard, Danzo quickly dodged to the side. As he turned his head, he saw a young-looking Uchiha Itachi. ”You little punk...”

Itachi didn’t say a word. He just swung his zanpakuto again, slashing at Danzo.

Nagato frowned at the sight. He was just about to step in when a graceful figure blocked his way. ”You’re not seriously thinking about helping your enemy, are you?”

”Konan?” She looked so different now that Nagato almost didn’t recognize her. It wasn’t just the missing Akatsuki cloak—where were her lip studs? Her lipstick? Her nail polish?

”Congrats on standing up again, Nagato,” Konan said coldly. ”As a little gift, let me show you what my blade can do.”

Doujin Artist: I don’t think Nagato-san wants to see that.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: After seeing it, he might end up back in a wheelchair. (Facepalm)

Machete Girl: By the way, has Konan learned Bankai now?

Doujin Artist: Pretty sure she has! But if she actually uses it, Nagato won’t just need a wheelchair—he’ll need a hearse! For real!

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: That Otsutsuki Hamura doesn’t look like he plans to do anything?

Curly-haired Guy: He’s just standing there looking all cool and dramatic!

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Maybe he thinks Konan and Itachi aren’t worth his time?

This is an Actor: He’s just watching out for me.

Bad Guy from Soul Society: Ah, I get it. He’s scared that if he steps away, you’ll mess with Hagoromo’s head again, right?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Man... gotta admit, Anzen-san really is the king of talking people into stuff. Usually it’s the main characters who talk down the bad guys, but with you, it’s the other way around.

Machete Girl: Getting talked into doubting your whole life. (Facepalm)

Bad Guy from Soul Society: I wish I could see that happen here too. I really want to see the look on Aizen’s face when he starts doubting himself. Even better if he ends up crying his eyes out.

Doujin Artist: Make Aizen cry?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: That’s... such a Hana move.

This is an Actor: Making someone like Aizen have an emotional breakdown like that just isn’t going to happen. Even if he fully merges with the Hogyoku and starts losing his mind under the Soul King’s influence, he’d still stay mostly calm. But making him question himself? That’s doable.

Bad Guy from Soul Society: I see. In that case, never mind. You’ll need the Hogyoku too, right?

This is an Actor: And the Soul King.

Bad Guy from Soul Society: Got it.

Unohana smiled, the corners of her mouth curling up in delight. She couldn’t wait to see what kind of changes their group leader would bring to the Soul Society.

It was bound to be something exciting!
