Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 147: 147 The Dominant Feng Hang

The drawing of lots was completed, with those who had drawn the black token and the green token each standing separately. From this point, the opponents for the first round of the Outer Sect competition were clear.

”Please, the eight disciples who drew tokens numbered one to four in black and green, begin the battle. The winners will advance to the next round!”

As Yun Xiao sized up the young genius holding the black number twenty-eight token with a sneer on his face, Su He, who was presiding over this Outer Sect competition, loudly announced the start, instantly igniting the whole audience.

At this moment, the real contest of the Outer Sect began, as every participant was among the elite of the Outer Sect.

Besides newcomers such as Yun Xiao and Xuan Zhi, which old generation genius was not among the top one hundred super geniuses on the Mortal List?

For those disciples with lower strength, witnessing these geniuses’ showdown was akin to a learning opportunity, especially during this Outer Sect competition where they could even see the techniques of Meridian Rushing Realm powerhouses such as Feng Hang or Shen Xiao, which was a rare treat.

There were five stages in the Arena Hall of Jade Pot Sect, with one central main stage and four smaller stages. Clearly, the first round would not take place on the main stage.

Following Su He’s shout, the eight young geniuses who drew the black and green tokens numbered one to four quickly found their opponents and began the first round of the Outer Sect competition.

In such contests, neither party would show mercy. If given the chance, it might even lead to fatalities, highlighting the brutality of the Outer Sect competition; every genius was fighting for a chance to enter the Inner Sect.

Even if they couldn’t secure one of the two fixed positions in the finals, they wouldn’t relax. A moment of clever strategy that impressed the two authoritative Elders seated could also catapult them to success.

Bang!

Approximately the time it took half a stick of incense to burn, the first arena already had a result. A muscular young man who had reached the Peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm found an opportunity to directly blast another genius in the Late Stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm off the stage, securing victory.

However, to powerhouses like Feng Hang or Shen Xiao, such battles only drew a faint sneer of disdain, especially when they saw the slightly smug expression on the winner’s face.

Meridian Rushing Realm was not even on the same level as Meridian Gathering Realm. It had proven not only the impossibility to cross such a Great Rank, but even small inter-level battles within the Meridian Gathering Realm were challenging.

This was evident as the genius at the Peak of Meridian Gathering Realm effortlessly defeated another genius in the Late Stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm. In the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect, where everyone practiced similar Cultivation Techniques, the competition boiled down to the levels of Meridian Qi Cultivation.

As time passed, the first four matches quickly concluded. Without exception, the geniuses with higher Meridian Qi Cultivation defeated those with lower Cultivation.

The geniuses who successfully advanced to the second round all wore a hint of smug smiles, while the four defeated geniuses hung their heads in dejection and annoyance.

However, the spectators’ attention had already shifted away from these individuals because among the eight upcoming contestants, there was one top-tier genius they were most interested in, Feng Hang, who ranked first on the Mortal List.

Having drawn the black number eight token previously, Feng Hang was sure to be in one of the upcoming matches, drawing everyone’s focus to stage number four.

After Su He’s shout, Feng Hang didn’t even care to check who his opponent was and strode onto the stage confidently, standing with his hands behind his back, exuding the aura of a master.

On the contrary, Feng Hang’s opponent, Song Tian, who had unfortunately drawn the green number eight, looked extremely pale. Nevertheless, under the watchful eyes of the public, he couldn’t just give up before even stepping onto the stage, as that would surely earn the contempt of the Great Elders.

Thus, under the gaze of the crowd, Song Tian clenched his teeth and reluctantly climbed onto the stage, yet the oppressive aura emitted by the figure opposite made his face grow even more bitter.

”This Song Tian, at least he has some courage!”

Song Tian’s performance indeed won some admiration from the Outer Sect geniuses. Regardless of the gap in strength between him and Feng Hang, simply standing on stage number four was already more than most Outer Sect geniuses could achieve.

In fact, Song Tian’s Meridian Qi Cultivation was not low; he had reached the Peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm. If not for drawing Feng Hang, who was in the Early Stage of the Meridian Rushing Realm, perhaps he could have made it much further in this Outer Sect competition.

Unfortunately, among all the competitors, two had to face either Feng Hang or Shen Xiao. Drawing Feng Hang in the first round indicated poor luck for Song Tian, but sometimes, isn’t luck also a form of strength?

Moreover, even if he hadn’t drawn Feng Hang in the first round, there was a high chance he would encounter him in the second or third rounds. Didn’t you see the lack of enthusiasm from the competitors on stage number three who drew the number seven tokens?

Whether the winners drawing the number seven tokens were, they would inevitably face the victorious Feng Hang in the next round. Now, they could only showcase their skills, hoping to catch the eyes of the Elders.

”Song Tian, I advise you to just surrender. I, Feng Hang, strike to draw blood!”

Looking at the opponent across the Arena Hall who, despite his pale face, still stood straight, Feng Hang felt an inexplicable surge of anger. This guy, knowing who he was up against, still dared to step onto the stage. It seemed his reputation in the Outer Sect was not intimidating enough.

During this period, Feng Hang, feeling humiliated twice by Yun Xiao at the Yurong Volcano and the Task Hall, had been in a bad mood, which made him even more ruthless.

This Outer Sect competition, Feng Hang had hoped to face Yun Xiao in the first round and kill that detestable kid on the Arena, but instead, he met the oblivious Song Tian. How could he feel good about that?

In Feng Hang’s view, if Song Tian had any sense, he would automatically concede, or not step onto the Arena at all, preserving his own strength and thus maintaining his reputation.

”Please enlighten me, Brother Feng Hang!”

Little did anyone know that the disparity in strength didn’t daunt Song Tian. When Feng Hang’s threatening words were spoken, Song Tian’s mind actually calmed down a bit, and he cupped his fists in response.

Maybe in Song Tian’s heart, although he was definitely no match for Feng Hang, with his peak Meridian Gathering Realm cultivation, he should be able to hold on for a few moves with him, right?

This thought, even if he was eventually defeated, could let the Great Elder and Second Elder see his courage and methods. Little did he know that this would infuriate Feng Hang more.

The typically arrogant Feng Hang, who considered himself first in everything in the Outer Sect of Jade Pot Sect, felt that Song Tian was overestimating himself, and decided to teach him an unforgettable lesson.

”Hehe, enlighten you?”

A bloodthirsty gleam shone in Feng Hang’s eyes. As his cold laugh sounded, everyone only saw a purple shadow flash across the Arena, and immediately, Song Tian’s expression drastically changed.

Bang!

Just as Song Tian realized what was happening and tried to react, he suddenly felt a pain in his lower abdomen, then his entire body shook violently and uncontrollably flew backwards.

”Splat!”

A mouthful of bright red blood spurted out from Song Tian’s mouth. Clearly, under Feng Hang’s ghostly speed, he hadn’t managed to block a single move before being severely injured by a kick.

”Tsk tsk, Brother Feng Hang’s strength is too formidable, even Song Tian at the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm couldn’t withstand a single move!”

Seeing this, exclamations erupted around the Arena Hall, even Bi Luo and Yin Huan from the Southeast corner of the Inner Sect were showing surprise in their eyes.

”Hehe, there are quite a few promising disciples among the Outer Sect this time!”

From the Northeast direction, Xue Gong, struggling to find something to say, revealed what he thought was a pleasant smile. However, when he spoke, he realized that the girl next to him did not seem focused on the Arena battle at hand.

”What is she looking at?”

Xue Gong’s mind raced as he followed Mo Qing’s gaze, only to see a young man in coarse clothing. This sight sparked a dangerous glint in his eyes.

Previously, when Yun Xiao entered the hall, Mo Qing’s attention had already ignited envy in Xue Gong. But now, during this genius battle, if the number one on the Mortal List was still catching her attention with that coarse-clothed lad, it truly infuriated Xue Gong.

Xue Gong didn’t know about the incidents between Yun Xiao and Mo Qing, of course, if he really knew them, he might have skinned Yun Xiao alive by now. But at this moment, he had truly placed Yun Xiao on his list of disliked ones, waiting for a chance...

Below the Arena, Yun Xiao, completely unaware that he had inadvertently offended another formidable Inner Sect genius, was focusing entirely on Feng Hang. The speed of this number one on the Outer Mortal List had indeed amazed him.

”It seems to battle this guy, I must strike first!”

Although Feng Hang had only made one move, Yun Xiao’s discerning eyes saw many details in that move.

Such a speed, not only boosted by the Meridian Qi of the Early Stage of Meridian Rushing Realm but also incorporating a special movement technique, if allowed to move quickly, his opponent would always be at a disadvantage. The only solution was to outrun him and see whose speed was faster.

As everyone, including Yun Xiao, assumed the Arena Hall fight was over following Song Tian’s blood vomiting, instances of marveling at Feng Hang’s strength occurred, yet unexpectedly, that top talent of the Mortal List was about to make another move.
