Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 114: 114 Pursuit

North of the Jade Pot Sect headquarters, Yulin Mountain Range!

Swoosh!

In the dark of night, a slightly dim figure shot out from afar at an extremely high speed, heading towards a certain location. It was none other than Yun Xiao, who had taken on a task from the Jade Pot Sect to head to Yurong Mountain.

It had been three days since Yun Xiao left the Jade Pot Sect, and these days were anything but easy for him as he was continuously on guard against the pursuing Guan Tong.

Yun Xiao knew he was being targeted by Guan Tong. If he were caught up by this genius ranked third on the Outer Sect’s Mortal List, it would likely lead to a fierce battle and the outcome might not be satisfactory.

Thus, Yun Xiao had already planned to avoid a direct confrontation with this individual who had not only reached the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm but also half-stepped into the Meridian Rushing Realm. Fighting directly would only waste his time and might still end in vain.

Initially, Yun Xiao thought that with his speed and experience, coupled with his constantly changing direction between northeast and northwest, he could swiftly lose that pursuer. However, the reality turned out to be very different from what he expected.

After three days and two nights, the powerful sensing ability of Yun Xiao’s soul could still discreetly sense that Guan Tong was only a few miles away. If he stopped, he would probably be caught up.

”This can’t go on like this!”

To be honest, Yun Xiao was quite exhausted. After all, his Meridian Qi Cultivation had just broken through to the Meridian Gathering Realm Early Stage not long ago, and in terms of Meridian Qi Storage alone, he couldn’t compare to Guan Tong even if he tried.

Seeing that Guan Tong seemed to have some techniques, and realizing that he couldn’t possibly shake him off, Yun Xiao had to think of another plan. He was still hundreds of miles away from Yurong Mountain, and this unprotected pursuit was bound to wear him out.

”Hmm?”

However, just as Yun Xiao was caught in a dilemma, his potent Power of Soul suddenly sensed a special energy fluctuation coming from the north.

This piqued his interest, and he immediately slowed down, not daring to emit any breath, and quietly approached the source of the energy fluctuation.

This place was deep within the Yulin Mountain Range, where a powerful Third Rank or even Fourth Rank Vein Demon could emerge from anywhere. Therefore, Yun Xiao had to not only beware of Guan Tong, who was not far behind him but also guard against any powerful Vein Demon that might appear.

Yun Xiao, skillful in many techniques and adept at concealing his breath and figure in the darkness, tread lightly to the base of a large tree. When he looked up, he saw a dense tree shadow.

”Hehe, it turns out to be a Third Rank Advanced Peak Vein Demon, breaking through to the Fourth Rank!”

However, due to Yun Xiao’s powerful Power of Soul, he sensed something else, which brought a peculiar smile to his face. He then carefully retreated about dozen yards away, seemingly afraid to disturb the Vein Demon’s breakthrough.

.......

Swoosh!

In the gloomy depths of the Yulin Mountain Range, another robust figure flashed. Who could it be but Guan Tong, who had followed Yun Xiao here?

At this moment, a slight smirk of pride appeared on the face of this Jade Pot Sect Outer Sect genius, his eyes glanced towards the north, already confident in his heart.

”Yun Xiao, no matter how many techniques you have, you absolutely cannot escape from the palm of my hand, Guan Tong!”

Guan Tong let out a cold laugh, but deep down, he was somewhat surprised. If it weren’t for the technique he applied on Yun Xiao back in the Task Hall, that little ant-like kid might have really gotten away.

Now sensing that Yun Xiao was just ahead, Guan Tong could no longer think too much. If he could resolve Yun Xiao not far from the Jade Pot Sect, wouldn’t that be a fine deed?

Even though Guan Tong had also taken on a low Spiritual Rank task, he dared not attempt to complete it before breaking through to the Meridian Rushing Realm, as doing so might cost him his life.

Thinking about the 500 points soon to be deducted because of this kid ahead, a surge of anger rose from the depths of Guan Tong’s heart. He then increased his speed a few notches, chasing after the familiar aura ahead.

About half a stick of incense later, Guan Tong’s eyes finally spotted a frail figure in his sensing range, the very Yun Xiao he had been doggedly pursuing for three days and two nights.

”Turns out his Meridian Qi couldn’t support him anymore, he is indeed just an ant-like boy!”

Although Guan Tong is not a Meridian Refining Master, within this distance of several dozen feet, he could still sense something. In his senses, although the boy ahead was decently fast, he lacked staying power, probably due to excessive depletion of his Meridian Qi.

Guan Tong had no doubts about this; a cultivator at the Early Stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm, how much Meridian Qi could he possibly have to burn? The relentless pursuit over the past three days and two nights, if Yun Xiao still had abundant Meridian Qi, that would be truly strange.

Thus, Guan Tong did not drag his feet; seeing that the Meridian Qi was gushing out, he chased after Yun Xiao in just a few leaps, and the palm strike he unleashed contained the might of the Peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm.

Feeling the powerful strike from behind, a strange smile appeared on Yun Xiao’s face. Of course, this was something Guan Tong couldn’t see, nor did he know that from the moment he caught up, he had fallen into Yun Xiao’s scheme.

During these three days and two nights, Yun Xiao indeed had depleted a lot of Meridian Qi, but thanks to the marvelous Ancient Dragon Taming Technique, he could certainly hold on for another day and a half without a problem.

Yun Xiao reacted very quickly. Although Guan Tong’s strike was strong, hurting him was simply out of the question. Seeing Yun Xiao’s figure slightly flash, he had already dodged the palm strike and moved in another direction.

”Good lad, such quick reactions!”

Seeing this, Guan Tong couldn’t help but praise from his superior position, yet his heart harbored even more murderous intent. This boy’s quick reaction speed indeed posed a threat to him.

Guan Tong, who secured the third place on the Mortal List among the talented members of the Outer Sect of the Jade Pot Sect, was clearly no fool. He was fully informed by his brother about how Yun Xiao, with his Early Stage Meridian Gathering Realm cultivation, had defeated Guan Hu.

Despite being much stronger than Guan Hu, Guan Tong didn’t underestimate this scruffy youth in the slightest. A genius capable of fighting beyond his level, even the top two fierce competitors on the Mortal List might not necessarily manage the feat.

With his initial strike missing, Guan Tong quickly changed his attack; his next palm strike swept out horizontally, followed by a slightly weak burst of Meridian Qi which created a vague wolf-shaped head in front of him.

”External Meridian Qi Gathering?”

Despite dodging and having his back towards Guan Tong, Yun Xiao, with his powerful Soul Strength, instantly sensed that it was a formidable Meridian Technique of external Meridian Qi gathering. Could it be that Guan Tong had already broken through to the Meridian Rushing Realm?

But the next moment, Yun Xiao breathed a sigh of relief, as he had seen this situation before in the Arena Hall of the Shang Family, performed by Shang Ying, who was also at the Peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm.

Back then, Shang Ying was just one step away from entering the Meridian Rushing Realm, hence he could barely perform external Meridian Qi gathering, using some powerful Meridian Techniques to attack and injure his enemies with his Meridian Qi.

Guan Tong, at this moment, was undoubtedly at the same level as Shang Ying then, both nearly stepping into the Meridian Rushing Realm. However, the execution of this Meridian Technique by someone of this level, was undoubtedly much weaker than that of a true Meridian Rushing Realm cultivator.

In order to make Guan Tong fall into his trap quickly, without arousing suspicion, when Guan Tong launched his wolf-headed Meridian Technique, Yun Xiao had already made up his mind.

Although Yun Xiao could have dodged, he suddenly paused his movement as if he was running out of Meridian Qi, and the next moment, he was fiercely hit by the wolf head right in his back, sending his body flying several meters forward.

Seeing this, Guan Tong naturally didn’t think much. He had already assumed that Yun Xiao was at the end of his tether with insufficient residual Meridian Qi. Being struck by his external Meridian Qi gathered technique, Yun Xiao would likely not die, but be severely injured.

Yet, Guan Tong was entirely unaware that as his Meridian Qi wolf head was hitting Yun Xiao, the latter’s Ancient Dragon Taming Technique had already started to crazy spin, emitting streaks of special Devouring Power. The external Meridian Qi invading Yun Xiao’s body and wreaking havoc was quietly devoured at that moment.

What kind of Cultivation Technique the Ancient Dragon Taming Technique was, always able to turn peril into safety at critical moments, was unknown. Paired with Guan Tong’s half-baked external Meridian Qi gathering, it couldn’t allow his formidable Meridian Technique to unleash its full power.

While Yun Xiao circulated the Ancient Dragon Taming Technique to neutralize the foreign Meridian Qi inside him, he feigned the appearance of someone heavily injured by the Meridian Technique, stumbling towards a certain large tree.

For Guan Tong, who viewed this scene, other thoughts had ceased; ”strike while he is sick, demand his life,” harboring ill-will against Yun Xiao; he was no longer contemplating any other course but to swiftly kill this youth here and now.

This time, Guan Tong didn’t use external Meridian Qi gathering again, but quickly sprinted, his Meridian Qi-enveloped right palm violently aiming at Yun Xiao’s back.

The physical attack from Guan Tong’s actual body was much more powerful than his immature external Meridian Qi gathering technique. In his view, if the severely injured Yun Xiao took this powerful punch, he would definitely die a gruesome death of broken bones and torn sinews, considering the vast difference between them in both Meridian Qi Cultivation and Physical Strength.

However, Guan Tong completely missed the mocking flash in Yun Xiao’s eyes as he drove his powerful punch towards Yun Xiao’s back.

Just as the situation became critical, Yun Xiao’s Ancient Dragon Taming Technique spun, and in the next moment, Guan Tong saw the scruffy youth bizarrely shifting to the side, instantly flashing several meters away right under his eyes.

This strike from Guan Tong was aimed with full force to claim Yun Xiao’s life; its sudden and bizarre evasion caught him quite unprepared, and before him was now only the trunk of a large tree.
