Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 125: 125 Play the Role of a Sparrow

”Senior Brother Feng Hang, as you can see, I’m no match for this Fire Spirit Snake at all. The idea of us fighting till both sides lose is simply impossible. You might as well come out early!”

Shen Xiao looked toward the still and silent dark, seeming confident in his own sensing abilities. It’s worth mentioning that at this moment, the Fire Spirit Snake also ceased its movements, its fiery red snake eyes flickering with a dangerous glint.

It seems that this Strange Spirit born from magma indeed possesses some strong Spiritual Wisdom. Just like Shen Xiao, the Fire Spirit Snake sensed someone hiding in the dark. If it were suddenly attacked, even it might not escape unscathed.

Only after Shen Xiao’s second sentence did both Yun Xiao and Guan Tong see a blur before their eyes, and then a figure seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

This was a somewhat eerie young man, standing there giving off an ethereal and elusive feeling, so much so that even Yun Xiao’s Power of Soul couldn’t clearly sense how he had appeared there.

This person was neither tall nor slim, wearing a purple robe with a hood that shrouded his head and face in darkness, making it difficult for the others to see him clearly.

Of course, among the three, aside from Yun Xiao, the other two were obviously familiar with this top talent of the Jade Pot Sect Outer Sect Mortal List, so they weren’t as shocked as Yun Xiao.

”What a cunning fellow!”

Seeing that he had finally shown himself, Shen Xiao cursed inwardly. He had known that Feng Hang had also taken on the Fire Spirit Crystal mission and would definitely come here; he just hadn’t expected him to arrive so quickly.

In Shen Xiao’s earlier plan, he intended to give his all to subdue the Fire Spirit Snake first and then secure the Fire Spirit Crystal. After that, even if Feng Hang appeared, it would not be easy for him to snatch the Fire Spirit Crystal from him.

However, once he clashed with the Fire Spirit Snake, Shen Xiao realized he had underestimated the problem. This Strange Spirit born from magma was simply not something he, a cultivator at the early stages of the Meridian Rushing Realm, could handle.

Just then, he sensed Feng Hang’s presence and, of course, could no longer act as the vanguard. Concerning this individual who ranked above him on the Mortal List, he always held a cautious view, knowing that he was a tough opponent to deal with.

Thus, Shen Xiao had no intention to continue fighting, and directly exposed Feng Hang who was hiding in the shadows. He still had some plans in mind; in any case, he did not want to just give up on that Fire Spirit Crystal.

”Heh, Shen Xiao, your strength really seems to be regressing, to think you can’t even withstand a mere Fourth Rank Low Level Fire Spirit Snake!”

From within the covered lips of the Purple Robe, Feng Hang suddenly let out a slightly hoarse voice filled with mockery, making it apparent that his relationship with Shen Xiao wasn’t very good.

”Hmph, this Fire Spirit Snake is a Strange Spirit, do you think it’s so easy to deal with?” Shen Xiao wasn’t provoked by Feng Hang’s words and simply snorted coldly, revealing the true nature of the Fire Spirit Snake.

As he spoke, Shen Xiao’s eyes flickered as he continued: ”Feng Hang, don’t think just because you’ve advanced to the early stage of Meridian Rushing Realm for a year that you could handle this Fire Spirit Snake alone!”

”Hmph, just because you can’t handle it doesn’t mean I can’t!”

Seemingly stimulated by Shen Xiao’s words, Feng Hang coldly replied and in the next moment, his figure flashed out eerily fast, launching an attack on the Fire Spirit Snake first.

”So, he has cultivated a special Cultivation Technique and accompanying Body Meridian Techniques!” At this moment, Yun Xiao finally saw some clarity in Feng Hang’s mysterious movements. Such techniques were indeed rare in the Hidden Dragon Continent.

”Squeak!”

The Fire Spirit Snake, having been quietly sensing Feng Hang’s strength, saw this human recklessly starting the fight and was utterly infuriated. With a harsh shriek, flames on its body seemed to intensify.

In the Spiritual Wisdom of this Fire Spirit Snake, it sensed that the human who had just appeared had a similar strength to the previous one, so it held no reservations. With a flick of its tail, it lashed out in a scene reminiscent of how it had scattered Shen Xiao’s Meridian Techniques just before.

However, the Spiritual Wisdom of the Fire Spirit Snake clearly couldn’t compare to human cultivators; it sensed based only on the aura of the Meridian Qi that the two were fairly similar, not knowing that Feng Hang, who ranked first on the Jade Pot Sect Outer Sect Mortal List, had far superior methods than Shen Xiao.

Whoosh!

Feng Hang moved, dodging the tail swipe with lightning-fast speed, and with a precise palm strike, hit the middle of the Fire Spirit Snake’s body, sending it flying backward by several meters.

”This guy who is first on the Mortal List, his strength really is extraordinary!”

Watching this scene, Yun Xiao couldn’t help but silently admire it. Not only was Feng Hang’s reaction speed astonishing, but the strength in his hands was also exceptional, clear from the precision of his strike, something Shen Xiao just now definitely couldn’t match.

Feng Hang succeeded with his strike, stirring a sense of wonder in Guan Tong’s heart, yet Shen Xiao’s expression looked somewhat unsightly. He had sequestered himself for cultivation recently, believing he could surpass Feng Hang in the upcoming Outer Sect competition soon. But now, it seemed that opportunity was incredibly slim.

It seemed that while Shen Xiao was certainly diligent in his cultivation, Feng Hang clearly had not been negligent either. For these standout Outer Disciples like them, advancing to the Inner Sect was their greatest goal, and the annual Outer Sect competition was their only chance.

Even though Feng Hang and Shen Xiao had been the top two on the Mortal List for nearly a year, nobody knew what unexpected events might occur during the Outer Sect competition, so they must continue to enhance their power to secure their qualification for the Inner Sect promotion.

In the Jade Pot Sect, points were the most important commodity. Without points, everything was difficult, such as entering the Jade Pot Cave that was rich with Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures—each visit demanding a hefty number of points, which only increased the higher one wished to go.

Shen Xiao wanted to go further and replace Feng Hang, whereas the latter wanted to maintain his position, making these two constantly the strongest competitors in the Outer Sect.

But while Shen Xiao was secretly frustrated, Feng Hang, who had just blasted the Fire Spirit Snake, did not look too pleased either. Seeing him raise his right palm and observe the bright red center, he felt an intense burning sensation rushing to his heart.

The Fire Spirit Snake, sent retreating a few meters from the palm strike, turned its head back with a hint of mockery in its fiery eyes. Yun Xiao understood this mockery; he knew that Feng Hang had been careless just now, falling into the Fire Spirit Snake’s cunning trap.

These strange spirits born from the natural world all possess inherent talents. For instance, the talent of the Fire Spirit Snake is its formidable magma attribute.

Not only can the Fire Spirit Snake turn its body into a stream of magma, it also possesses an extremely potent Fire Attribute. When Feng Hang’s palm struck its body, he naturally suffered from the scorching burn of its Fire Attribute.

If Feng Hang hadn’t been at the early stage of Meridian Rushing Realm, that right hand might not have survived, just like how Cao Ju first encountered Yun Xiao’s Ancestral Vein Fire.

However, Feng Hang covered up the swelling in the palm of his right hand quite well, not letting Shen Xiao and Guan Tong notice anything off. Seeing his eyes shift under the Purple Robe, his mindset was subtly changing.

”Shen Xiao, I see you’re not willing to easily give up on that Fire Spirit Crystal either. Why don’t we join forces first to deal with this beast?” Feng Hang suddenly suggested.

Shen Xiao was taken aback by this unexpected remark, but being a deep thinker himself, he soon guessed that the previous exchange might not have been as straightforward as he had observed.

Seeing Shen Xiao hesitating to respond, Feng Hang continued, ”After dealing with this beast, you and I will rely on our own abilities—whoever gets the Fire Spirit Crystal first will not face further challenge from the other. How about that?”

Feng Hang spoke confidently, as if he did not even consider Guan Tong, ranked third on the Mortal List, as a competitor, already discussing the ownership of the Fire Spirit Crystal with him.

”Agreed, a deal then!”

What Shen Xiao wanted was precisely this assurance. Although he was also in the early stages of Meridian Rushing Realm like Feng Hang, he admitted he was still slightly inferior due to the latter’s special Cultivation Technique and Body Meridian Techniques.

But if it was just a contest of who could obtain the Fire Spirit Crystal first, Shen Xiao believed he still had a fair chance. Moreover, if he did not ally with Feng Hang, he couldn’t possibly be a match for the Fire Spirit Snake alone.

Seeing Shen Xiao agree, a weird smile appeared on Feng Hang’s face beneath the Purple Robe, and he then said, ”This is our agreement. If anyone tries to snatch the Fire Spirit Crystal from us, they will find no place for themselves in the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect!”

As Feng Hang spoke, his gaze turned towards Guan Tong not far away, causing the latter to quickly show a pleasing expression. Joking aside, facing the two front-runners, he wouldn’t dare even with another’s courage to attempt snatching the Fire Spirit Crystal.

Even Shen Xiao thought that Feng Hang’s words were aimed at Guan Tong, seeing him as overly cautious, yet did not notice that as he turned his head, Feng Hang’s gaze had already covertly swept a specific dark corner.

”He found me?”

Hidden in the shadows, Yun Xiao suddenly felt Feng Hang’s gaze sweep over his direction for a moment, causing a chill in his heart. However, just as he began to stir up some thoughts, that gaze had already moved away, leaving him unsure if it was just his illusion.

Regardless of whether Feng Hang discovered him or not, Yun Xiao was not about to reveal himself. Moreover, now that Feng Hang and Shen Xiao had reached an agreement, his initial plan of benefiting from their rivalry could now be executed.

No matter how formidable the Fire Spirit Snake was, it likely wasn’t a match for these two super geniuses of the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect joining forces. After a fierce fight leaving all three parties injured, perhaps Yun Xiao would have a slim chance to snatch the Fire Spirit Crystal.
