Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 113: 113 is a bit troublesome

”Hmph, I don’t believe that this kid would dare to take on a Spiritual Rank low-level mission!”

Inside the Task Hall, although Guan Tong indeed dared not make a move, he could not believe that this mere ant, an early-stage Meridian Gathering Realm cultivator, would dare to take on a Spiritual Rank low-level mission, which not even some Meridian Rushing Realm cultivators would dare to accept.

In fact, Guan Tong had some selfish motives, because Xuan Zhi had already given the order that whatever task Yun Xiao picked, he must take on the same one and kill Yun Xiao during the task.

But now, Yun Xiao was actually going to take a Spiritual Rank low-level mission, which made Guan Tong quite uneasy; he wouldn’t care if this kid sought death, but it might also endanger his own life.

Guan Tong was only half a step into the Meridian Rushing Realm, not a true cultivator of the Meridian Rushing Realm. The Spiritual Rank low-level missions involved either battling Fourth Rank Vein Demons or searching for Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures guarded by Fourth Rank Vein Demons, which was beyond his capabilities.

Initially, Guan Tong thought that Yun Xiao, an early-stage Meridian Gathering Realm cultivator, would only dare to take on Mortal Rank missions, even if it was a Mortal Rank Advanced mission, Guan Tong wouldn’t care at all since he was already a standout amongst the Outer Sect disciples of the Jade Pot Sect.

Thus, Guan Tong hypnotized himself, trying to convince himself that Yun Xiao wouldn’t dare take on a Spiritual Rank low-level mission, but he couldn’t find any argument to refute it.

The next moment, he saw the raggedly dressed kid bypass him, and with an accurate press of his right index finger, he hit the acceptance button for the Spiritual Rank low-level mission.

”Accepted? He really... accepted?!”

This scene not only made Guan Tong incredulous, but also left those Outer Disciples who had been watching Yun Xiao dumbstruck; guessing was one thing, but becoming a reality was another. Yun Xiao’s actions were simply outrageous.

It is well-known that completing a Spiritual Rank low-level mission would indeed bring generous points rewards, but if one failed, points would be deducted.

Yun Xiao, a newly joined Outer Disciple without a single point, would inevitably face some corresponding punishments if he failed the mission.

Yet, this kid still resolutely took the Spiritual Rank low-level mission, even making Tan Yun, who had a good relationship with Yun Xiao, somewhat regretful for informing him about that Yurong Mountain task.

”Task Token!”

Yun Xiao ignored those shocked gazes and directly reached for the task wooden token that slid down, embedding a strand of Meridian Qi into the token, thus successfully accepting the mission.

Showing a hint of satisfaction on his face, Yun Xiao withdrew his hand and glanced at Guan Tong beside him, saying with a smile that was not quite a smile: ”Senior Brother, are you also going to take on a Spiritual Rank low-level mission?”

Yun Xiao knew very well the difficulty of this Spiritual Rank low-level mission. He dared to accept it because he had certain means and was confident, but he firmly believed that Guan Tong, this outer gate prodigy who had not yet broken through to the Meridian Rushing Realm, would never dare to risk his life.

Indeed, Guan Tong was afraid to take the risk. At this moment, he was quite torn and hesitant, even under Yun Xiao’s slightly sarcastic words, he didn’t lose his reason.

These were Spiritual Rank low-level missions, akin to high-rank tasks which only Meridian Rushing Realm cultivators dared to accept. Guan Tong believed that if he accepted one, in order to save his life, he would simply lose 500 points.

points, that was already higher than the rewards for some Mortal Rank Middle Level missions. Guan Tong had saved only a few thousand points over the years, and in the Jade Pot Sect, points were needed everywhere; thus, 500 points was indeed a significant amount for him.

”This damned kid!”

Guan Tong cursed in his heart, but as he hesitated, his body stiffened, and he immediately looked in a certain direction. There, stood his brother Guan Hu and the person he feared most, the Third Prince of the Royal Family.

Although Guan Tong was much stronger than Xuan Zhi, because of status, he dared not defy any of Xuan Zhi’s commands, especially when he saw the other’s intense gaze and the hand gesture across the neck.

Guan Tong knew that Xuan Zhi would never let Yun Xiao off, and this mission was the best opportunity to kill him. As for those 500 points, Xuan Zhi, who had just entered the Jade Pot Sect, did not understand their importance.

”Forget it, at the cost of losing 500 points, I must have this kid torn to pieces!”

Under the urging gaze of Xuan Zhi, Guan Tong knew he had no way out, so once again he redirected his anger and frustration towards Yun Xiao. If it weren’t for this youngster, would he have been forced into such a dilemma?

Thus, in the next moment, under the stupefied gazes of everyone including Yun Xiao, Guan Tong decisively turned around and pressed on the same button as Yun Xiao did earlier, causing a task token to drop from above.

”Eh?”

Yun Xiao, who never believed Guan Tong would dare to take on the low-level Spiritual Rank task, couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. Has this guy gone mad? Or does he have some unknown tricks up his sleeve?

How could Yun Xiao know that Guan Tong was in a predicament from which he could not extricate himself? Without the orders from Xuan Zhi, how could he possibly accept a task that was fundamentally unachievable?

Guan Tong had never actually considered achieving the so-called Fire Spirit Crystal. In his view, this task with two thousand points seemed even more challenging than the low-level Spiritual Rank task of obtaining the corpse of a Fourth Rank Vein Demon, which only rewarded one thousand two hundred points after completion.

Regardless, once Guan Tong injected his own Meridian Qi into the task token, his mission acceptance was confirmed. Whether he could complete it or not, he had no choice but to see it through to the end.

However, Yun Xiao, who came to realize this, looked somewhat stern. Observing the smug expressions of Xuan Zhi and Guan Hu nearby, he had every reason to believe that this was a conspiracy concocted by the three of them.

Yun Xiao’s primary goal in going to Yurong Mountain this time was to find the Fire Stone Heart and enhance his physical strength, before undertaking the low-level Spiritual Rank task. This would give him a better chance of success.

However, now that Guan Tong had also taken up the same task, Yun Xiao, after understanding some things, realized that the difficulty of his task had potentially doubled.

A genius of the Mortal List who had nearly stepped into the Meridian Rushing Realm, even if Yun Xiao had numerous tricks up his sleeve, he couldn’t help but feel an immense pressure. If he really encountered Guan Tong in the outer regions of the Jade Pot Sect, he would not hesitate to flee immediately.

But now that things had reached this point, Yun Xiao’s annoyance was futile. Clearly, Guan Tong was also unable to complete the task, but he still insisted on taking it, even at the cost of losing five hundred points. This indicated that Guan Tong’s intent to kill him had reached an unstoppable level.

”What a hassle!”

While his thoughts were churning in his heart, Yun Xiao kept his expression unchanged. He did not engage in much conversation with Guan Tong but nodded slightly towards Ling Wan and Tan Yun, then headed towards the hall’s door.

Seeing this, Guan Tong also nodded towards someone else and quickly followed suit. It seemed he had made up his mind to stick with Yun Xiao from the moment they left the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect, ideally eliminating this detestable youngster right as they exited.

Yet, did Yun Xiao not know that such a formidable enemy was following him? Seeing a flash of a cold smile in his eyes, his speed suddenly increased. In just a moment, he had disappeared around the corner of a certain building.

However, with such speed, in the eyes of Guan Tong—who was at the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm—it seemed rather unremarkable. His body surged with Meridian Qi as he quickly pursued, not knowing if a unique and intense battle would soon break out.

As Yun Xiao and Guan Tong vanished from the vicinity of the Task Hall, those around were still unable to recover from their astonishment; it was indeed rare to see anyone in the Outer Sect’s Task Hall take on a Spiritual Rank low-level task; such occurrences were usually only seen among the top two in the Mortal List.

Today, however, not to speak of Guan Tong—his half-step into the Meridian Rushing Realm and being third in the Mortal List made him a notable figure in the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect over the past three years. The uninformed genius disciples might think that this third-ranked genius, not willing to lag behind others, wanted to give it a try.

But for that youngster in the initial stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm to also take on a Spiritual Rank low-level task was quite baffling. This strange event would likely become hot gossip in the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect for some time.

Yet people such as Cao Luo and Zhao Ningshu, who bore enmity against Yun Xiao, were secretly praying for Yun Xiao to never return, ideally meeting his death outside so they could avenge their grievances.

Especially for Third Prince Xuan Zhi, His Highness, who watched the door of the Task Hall with a gaze filled with fierce and malicious light. In his view, with Guan Tong’s involvement and trailing Yun Xiao right from the start, the youngster who had once humiliated him terribly would definitely have no return this time.

What these Outer Disciples did not know was that when Yun Xiao and Guan Tong took on the Spiritual Rank low-level task, in a certain room of the Task Hall located in the Jade Pot Sect’s Inner Sect, an old figure could not help but utter a sound of amazement.

”Tsk tsk, how interesting. I never expected that four Outer Disciples would take on the Fire Spirit Crystal task of Yurong Mountain, and one of them is only at the early stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm. This really opens the old man’s eyes!”

As the voice fell, a face covered with wrinkles was revealed, and the occasional emergence of a dark green aura from his body signaled that this elder belonged to the Poison Vein of the Jade Pot Sect. His mastery of the Poison Meridian Skill was probably not something to be underestimated.

”I wonder, when these Outer Sect youngsters encounter those things, what kind of scene will it be?” With these curious words spoken, the room returned to calm once more, only a faint green aura rising, making it appear exceedingly mysterious and unpredictable.
