The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Jing Yan Goes Up the High Platform Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Jing Yan Goes Up the High Platform Supported by two North Peak students, Wen Yu left the square with a gloomy expression.

Meanwhile, Wu Zhi stood arrogantly on the square for a while longer, basking in the countless adoring gazes directed at him.

After about a third of the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, Wu Zhi disdainfully glanced at the gathering place of the North Peak students before returning to the platform.

“Peak Master Zhao Qi!

This second battle, South Peak has won!”

“The first battle, North Peak won.

The second battle, South Peak won.

Next, we’ll see the result of the third battle,” Hu Yang said with a light laugh.

Listening to Hu Yang’s words, Zhao Qi glanced behind him at Duan Lin and sighed inwardly again.

At that moment, Duan Lin’s face was extremely pale.

He hadn’t even entered the arena yet and he was already fearful.

It was hard to imagine that in such a state, he could last even the duration of a breath against Deng Qing.

Duan Lin had indeed lost his courage at this point, his mind was blank and his thoughts frozen.

The injury of Wen Yu had terrified him.

In such combats, although death was rare, no one could guarantee it wouldn’t happen.

Especially since he was about to face Deng Qing from South Peak.

Deng Qing was notoriously ruthless, not just towards North Peak students, but also those from his own South Peak—there were several whom Deng Qing had severely disciplined.

Duan Lin really wasn’t sure if Deng Qing wouldn’t resort to killing him during their encounter.

If Deng Qing decided to kill him while they sparred, perhaps even Peak Master Zhao Qi wouldn’t be able to save him in time!

“Peak Master, let me handle this third battle!

Haha…” Deng Qing laughed.

Then, his figure flickered, landing on the ground below.

“Scum of South Peak, come here and meet your demise!” Deng Qing stood below, looked up at Duan Lin on the platform, and roared loudly.

Deng Qing’s words made Duan Lin tremble again, his worries and fears intensifying.

Deng Qing was actually shouting for him to come and meet his death.

Struggling, he tried to look towards Deng Qing, feeling the murderous intent in Deng Qing’s eyes and intending to step forward, but found that his legs seemed to disobey him.

“Duan Lin, go!

If you can’t handle it, just admit defeat,” Zhao Qi watched Duan Lin with his gaze.

He had had no expectations for Duan Lin from the start, and seeing him in this condition, he was even less hopeful.

In this Twin Mountain Conference, South Peak had indeed defeated North Peak again.

Zhao Qi was frustrated!

But what could be done?

Reality was as such, and he was powerless to change it.

Hearing Zhao Qi’s words, Duan Lin still stood there, blankly staring at Peak Master Zhao Qi.

“Peak Master Zhao Qi, don’t let your third contestant delay us any longer!” Hu Yang frowned slightly impatiently.

Zhao Qi’s face grew even more ashen.

This Twin Mountain Conference, they were not only losing people but appeared to be losing the battle!

Their third choice from North Peak didn’t even have the courage to fight.

How disgraceful it was under the watchful eyes of countless Dao Yi Academy students!

The whole of North Peak would become the subject of ridicule.

“Peak Master Zhao Qi, how about we just call it off?

Just say a word, and if North Peak admits defeat, then we can skip this third battle.

Besides, the outcome would be the same whether we fight or not,” Hu Yang’s smugness was all over his face.

Hearing Hu Yang’s words, Zhao Qi felt a surge of anger, wishing he could go down and fight himself, even facing Hu Yang if necessary.

But he knew that this idea couldn’t become reality.

Yet for him to just admit defeat was something extremely difficult to say out loud.

“Peak Master Zhao Qi, let’s end this Twin Mountain Conference here,” an elder of Dao Yi Academy said to Zhao Qi.

“Alright, let’s leave it at that.

South Peak wins this time!” Zhao Qi decided.

“There’s nothing left to see.”

“…”

These high-ranking individuals also didn’t want to waste more time needlessly.

Now, they just waited for Zhao Qi himself to speak up and acknowledge that North Peak had lost.

“What’s going on?

Why hasn’t the third contestant from North Peak come down?”

“What are they waiting for?”

“Hurry up and start the third battle!

I still have to go to the Hunting Ground to complete an academy mission!”

“If you’ve lost, you’ve lost, stop dawdling!”

Around the square, many people were growing impatient.

North Peak students standing with Jing Yan all bore expressions of shame.

Here they were, Inner Court students, being mocked by students of the Outer Court!

At that moment, Jing Yan quietly stepped out of the crowd and climbed onto the platform.

“Ah?”

“Jing Yan?”

When Jing Yan climbed onto the platform, Zhao Qi finally saw him and furrowed his brow.

What was Jing Yan doing here?

Hu Yang also watched Jing Yan, not recognizing him.

However, seeing Zhao Qi’s expression, he guessed that Jing Yan must be a student from North Peak.

Some elders on the platform also looked towards Jing Yan.

Among them, a few recognized him, including the Hall Master of the Criminal Punishment Hall.

Because of Jing Yan, he had once been greatly embarrassed, and a Vice Hall Master of the Criminal Punishment Hall had died because of it.

So, seeing Jing Yan, his face grew ugly and a look of anger appeared in his eyes.

“Who is that?

How did he climb up onto the platform?”

“Eh, isn’t that Jing Yan?”

Around the square, some people recognized Jing Yan.

His fame had not been small in the Lower Court, and many knew him!

“Peak Master!” Jing Yan greeted Zhao Qi with a bowed salute.

Zhao Qi merely waved his hand.

Then, Zhao Qi turned to Hu Yang.

“Peak Master Hu Yang, there’s something I intended to discuss with you after the Twin Mountain Conference.

However, since Jing Yan has come up, let’s talk about it now.”

“Student Deng Qing of South Peak demolished the stele of Jing Yan’s training mountain.

I believe Deng Qing should apologize to Jing Yan,” Zhao Qi said slowly in a deep voice.

Seeing Jing Yan come up, he thought Jing Yan was here about the stele that had been destroyed.

He had promised Jing Yan that after the Twin Mountain Conference, he would personally speak to the South Peak Master about this matter.

To tell the truth, Zhao Qi was somewhat displeased that Jing Yan had come to the platform at this time.

He had already assured Jing Yan, yet Jing Yan couldn’t wait, coming up before the Twin Mountain Conference was even over.

Couldn’t he wait just a little longer?

Though it was true that North Peak was about to lose, and the Twin Mountain Conference was practically over, the third battle hadn’t started yet, and Zhao Qi hadn’t spoken the words of defeat; thus, the conference wasn’t entirely concluded.

“Is this kid Jing Yan?” Hu Yang’s eyes narrowed; he had heard of Jing Yan’s name.

More than a year ago, Jing Yan had caused quite a stir at Dao Yi Academy.

“Deng Qing smashed your stele?

Do you know why he did this?

Why would Deng Qing only smash your stele and not others?” Hu Yang pursed his lips, staring at Jing Yan as he spoke.
