The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 402: Chapter 402 Double Mountain Convention Chapter 402: Chapter 402 Double Mountain Convention Zhao Qi looked at Jing Yan with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.

Although he hadn’t directly dealt with Jing Yan before, it wasn’t the first or second time he had heard the name Jing Yan.

From what Jing Yan had done since entering the Dao Yi Academy, it was clear that the young man had a stubborn temperament.

Jing Yan wouldn’t start trouble on his own, but if someone provoked him, he certainly wouldn’t pretend nothing had happened.

It was precisely because of this that Zhao Qi had specifically summoned Jing Yan.

Zhao Qi had high hopes for Jing Yan.

Jing Yan was only in his twenties, yet his Cultivation was anything but low.

Being able to secure the Golden Order in the exams of the Three Major Academies, he was definitely worthy of focused training and care.

Zhao Qi also feared that Jing Yan, acting impulsively, might directly rush to South Peak to settle scores with Deng Qing.

If a conflict arose, Jing Yan could very likely be killed by Deng Qing.

That was the last thing Zhao Qi wanted to happen!

“Jing Yan!”

“Let’s set this matter aside for now.” Zhao Qi said with focus.

“Peak Master, what do you mean?” Jing Yan frowned and looked at Zhao Qi.

“In a few days, it will be the once-in-a-decade Double Mountain Conference, and I currently don’t have time to look into this matter for you.

So after the Double Mountain Conference, I will have a talk with the South Peak Master to see how we can handle this.” Zhao Qi also felt somewhat troubled.

Hearing this, Jing Yan pondered.

It seemed more appropriate to wait for the Peak Master to have time to deal with the situation.

If he himself charged into South Peak to confront Deng Qing, the chances of a fight breaking out were over ninety percent.

And once started, it might be unstoppable.

Moreover, since the Peak Master had spoken, Jing Yan felt he should give face to the Peak Master.

The most important point was that Jing Yan could feel from the Peak Master’s words that he was being looked after.

Zhao Qi didn’t want him to confront Deng Qing, probably fearing he would be at a disadvantage!

Considering these reasons, Jing Yan felt indebted and nodded, “Then I will wait until after the Double Mountain Conference.”

“Good!” Zhao Qi nodded.

“Everyone, you may disperse!

Lu Yong, Wen Yu, and Duan Lin, prepare well.

In three days, the Double Mountain Conference begins, and we must give our hundred percent effort to defeat South Peak,” Zhao Qi said in a low voice.

However, in his words, one could feel a lack of confidence.

Everyone present might wish for their own North Peak to defeat South Peak.

They were all students of North Peak.

If North Peak lost, they would all lose face.

The problem was that reality couldn’t be changed, and at least on the surface, the odds of North Peak winning were absolutely no more than thirty percent.

For North Peak to defeat South Peak, both Lu Yong and Wen Yu must win.

If either of them failed, then there would be no chance for North Peak to make a comeback.

Duan Lin’s match was destined to have no chance of winning.

After Zhao Qi’s last words, people inside the Great Hall gradually dispersed.

Jing Yan also left the Great Hall.

Three days later, the Outer Court of Dao Yi Academy!

The Double Mountain Conference was held on a plaza in the Outer Court.

Dao Yi Academy’s Outer Court students could also watch the battles.

Early this day, a large number of Outer Court students gathered on the plaza, waiting for the start of the Double Mountain Conference.

The dense crowd packed the plaza tightly.

“Do you think, which peak will win this time at the Double Mountain Conference?”

“Isn’t that obvious?

It will definitely be South Peak!”

“Yes!

In the recent editions of the Double Mountain Conference, South Peak has been stronger.”

“If North Peak loses again this time at the Double Mountain Conference, that would be three consecutive losses!”

“Huh?

Were the North Peak defeated in the previous two Double Mountain Conferences?” Some newcomers were not aware of the previous two Double Mountain Conferences’ outcomes.

“Yes!

North Peak has lost twice in a row before!”

As for whether South Peak or North Peak was stronger, these Outer Court students really didn’t care.

They were just there for the excitement.

Their presence was to witness the battles between Inner Court Students – to see what it was like when fighters of the Late Dao Spirit Realm clashed.

The battles of Late Dao Spirit Realm fighters were not something you could see every day.

Moreover, the Late Dao Spirit Realm fighters participating in the Double Mountain Conference were the cream of the crop from the Inner Court.

These participating students were among the strongest Martial Artists in the Dao Yi Academy’s Inner Court, all below the age of fifty.

As time went by, Inner Court Students also gradually arrived.

Students from South Peak and North Peak stood apart, clearly divided into two groups.

Both looked unfavorably at each other, their expressions angry and hostile, with occasional curses and shouts being heard.

Jing Yan was here too!

He wanted to see what the fuss was all about in the Double Mountain Conference, even though he was not participating in the battles himself.

However, observing the battles among the participating students could give him a better understanding of the power of Late Dao Spirit Realm Martial Artists.

Most importantly, South Peak’s Deng Qing would also be fighting.

He wanted to see for himself how strong Deng Qing was and whether he would be able to secure a victory if they fought.

After the Double Mountain Conference, if Peak Master Zhao Qi couldn’t handle the situation smoothly, Jing Yan would still go to South Peak to confront Deng Qing directly.

By then, a battle would likely be unavoidable.

Regardless, he couldn’t just let the fact that someone had broken his mountain peak Stele pass so easily!

I, Jing Yan, will not be bullied!

Thinking of me as an easy target won’t do!

North Peak’s Lu Yong, Wen Yu, and Duan Lin arrived one after another.

South Peak’s Deng Qing, Bao Lei, and Wu Zhi also arrived at the scene.

The last to arrive were South Peak Master Hu Yang, North Peak Master Zhao Qi, and many other elder-level figures from the Dao Yi Academy.

These dignitaries went straight to the high platform of the plaza.

After these high-profile individuals took their places on the platform, the six students who were going to participate in the battles also ascended the platform, standing behind the two Peak Masters.

“Peak Master Zhao Qi, it seems that my South Peak is going to defeat your North Peak again in this session of the Double Mountain Conference,” South Peak Master Hu Yang said with a smile, looking at Zhao Qi.

Both were Upper Elders in the Dao Yi Academy with nearly equal status and identity.

However, as the Peak Masters of two separate Peaks, the rivalry was inevitable, each wanting to outdo the other.

Having been pressed consecutively for twenty years, Zhao Qi naturally wanted to strike back.

However, looking back at the three North Peak students behind him, he couldn’t help but feel the urge to sigh.

“Alas!

This time, we may still lose.

However, with another ten years until the next time, once that young fellow Jing Yan grows up, our North Peak’s chances of victory will increase.” Zhao Qi’s gaze turned toward the crowd of North Peak students below, finding Jing Yan and his heart warmed with the thought.

“Peak Master Hu Yang, the outcome is hard to predict before the fight begins,” Zhao Qi glanced at Hu Yang and responded.

Even if he thought North Peak had a small chance of winning, the words he spoke must not show weakness!
