Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Above the Convention Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Above the Convention The next day!

Dong Residence!

At this moment, Dong Family Patriarch felt like an ant on a hot pan.

The Jing Family had sent someone over yesterday to notify the Dong Family Patriarch and the elders to attend today’s reward distribution ceremony at the Jing Family!

What is a reward distribution ceremony?

It was to reward those who had sided with Jing Family during the great battle with the Zhao Family a month ago.

But the Dong Family hadn’t been a part of the Jing Family Camp.

So, why were they being invited to attend this reward distribution ceremony?

What were the intentions behind it?

Since the battle between the Jing and Zhao families had concluded, the Dong Family had secretly been making alliances.

Fearing that Jing Family would settle scores eventually, they couldn’t just sit and wait.

Therefore, they contacted many families with similar thoughts and formed an alliance with them.

Once the Jing Family made a move, they would unite and fight back.

However, what surprised everyone was that Jing Family made no move at all.

The past month had been very calm in Donglin City.

Until yesterday, Jing Family suddenly sent someone to deliver a message.

The Dong Family Patriarch and others were very clear that attending this ceremony could spell nothing good for their family.

But if they didn’t go, the consequences might be severe!

“What should we do?” Dong Family Patriarch, walked about anxiously.

Time was pressing, and now there wasn’t enough time to discuss a strategy with the other families.

So, should they go or not?

Meanwhile, within Donglin City, there were families like the Zhou and Zheng Families whose thoughts mirrored those of the Dong Family Patriarch.

They didn’t want to attend this ceremony from the bottom of their hearts, yet they were afraid that Jing Family would get angry and send someone to annihilate them.

They were well aware that even the City Lord Mansion’s Armored Guard was almost completely at the behest of the Jing Family, and their individual families would certainly not be able to withstand the Jing Family.

In the huge square of the Jing Family.

Jing Yan, Jing Chengye, Jing Tianying, and other notable figures of the Jing Family had gathered here early.

Around them, many members of the Jing Family were lined up neatly.

As time passed, heads of various families arrived with their significant members.

Jing Family members arranged for these guests to be seated.

Gradually, more and more people filled the square, yet the noise was minimal, almost no one engaged in loud conversations.

It was evident that apart from a few families, other family heads still felt uneasy, especially those who had been in the Zhao Family’s camp.

They were extremely tense, fearing Jing Family might spring a trap.

Patriarch Liu, Ma Family Patriarch, and Li Family Patriarch, however, were calm.

They had chosen to share fate with the Jing Family in times of crisis.

They believed that even if Jing Family were to eliminate all families in the city, they wouldn’t turn on them.

Furthermore, today’s ceremony was called a reward distribution ceremony, so surely there would be rewards involved.

“Ma Family Patriarch, what do you think Jing Family will reward us with?” Liu Family Patriarch asked quietly.

“Surely a lot of Spirit Stones?” Ma Family Patriarch replied with a smile.

“I think, at the very least, they will give each family a hundred thousand Spirit Stones.

The gains Jing Family made from annihilating Zhao and Cai Families are enormous, beyond your imagination.

Those families had accumulated quite a fortune over the years,” Li Family Patriarch commented with pursed lips.

These three patriarchs were sitting together.

They were also secretly hoping for what rewards they might receive.

After all, they were staunch supporters of the Jing Family, so they were bound to receive the most.

“No matter how much Jing Family has gained, I shouldn’t be envious.

Whatever they give, we must be grateful.

In this battle, although our three families contributed a lot, it was the Jing Family, the Young Master Jing Yan, who turned the tide,” Liu Family Patriarch stated.

Liu Family was a follower of the Jing Family.

From the beginning to the end, Liu Family was a staunch supporter of Jing Family, never wavering.

“Patriarch Liu is right, hehe…,” Li Family Patriarch chuckled.

“Greetings to all patriarchs!”

At that moment, another family’s patriarch came over with a very humble attitude.

“Oh, Wu Family Patriarch, hello!” Liu Family Patriarch glanced at him.

Originally, the Wu Family was also a staunch supporter of the Jing Family, but they had disappeared during the war.

Therefore, Patriarch Liu looked down on the Wu Family.

His tone was somewhat unusual.

Wu Family Patriarch could clearly hear it, but he didn’t mind.

“Patriarchs!

On behalf of the Wu Family, I plead with you to say a few good words for me in front of the Jing Clan Patriarch,” Wu Family Patriarch said helplessly.

“Wu Family Patriarch, what do you mean by that?

Does your family, the Wu Family, need us to speak well of you?

The Jing Family has always treated you exceptionally well.

If anyone should speak well, it should be you, Wu Family Patriarch, who should speak well for us,” Liu Family Patriarch said with a cold smile.

Wu Family Patriarch appeared slightly embarrassed, but his skin was not so thin.

If a few quips could make him give up, then he wasn’t fit to lead a family.

“Patriarch Liu, I understand that you have opinions about me and the Wu Family.

But under those circumstances, what choice did we have?

My Wu Family wanted to help the Jing Family, but that would have meant the disappearance of the Wu Family from Donglin City.

Because of this, there was a huge uproar within the Wu Family…” Wu Family Patriarch explained.

“Wu Family Patriarch, no more words.

We all knew the situation at that time.

You had your reasons for your decision.

But, in life, one mustn’t forget one’s origins.

Could we, the earliest followers of the Jing Family, have risen without Jing Family as our support?” Liu Family Patriarch waved his hand.

Wu Family Patriarch’s expression darkened, he sighed and bowed to the three patriarchs before returning to his seat.

…

“Dear Donglin City family patriarchs!”

At this moment, Jing Yan stood up and bowed to the dozens of family heads assembled in the square.

The reward distribution ceremony was personally hosted by Jing Yan.

“Today, it is my Jing Family hosting this reward distribution ceremony.

My Jing Family welcomes all patriarchs for participating in today’s ceremony,” Jing Yan said with a faint smile.

“The purpose of today’s ceremony, I believe you all understand,” Jing Yan’s eyes narrowed, “A month ago, a great upheaval occurred in Donglin City.

Due to this upheaval, some families have vanished, becoming part of Donglin City’s history.”

“In this upheaval, your families and my Jing Family joined hands and overcame difficulties.

My Jing Family is deeply grateful for your families’ kindness.

Thus, we have today’s reward distribution ceremony.

My Jing Family thanks you,” Jing Yan’s voice echoed across the square.

“Is it about time?

Are there any families yet to arrive?” Jing Yan turned to look at a Jing Family official managing the event.
