The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 1050: Chapter 1050: Xia Wu’s Decision (2)

The crowd began to discuss amongst themselves, seemingly unsure of what to do.

After all, in their hearts, Xia Wu being the Island Master of Xia Gui Island was deeply ingrained in them. But now, with Xia Wu unexpectedly saying she wouldn’t continue as Island Master, they found it difficult to accept. However, recalling the months of fear and uncertainty they had experienced, they hesitated about what decision to make.

It was unclear who spoke first, but someone mentioned that since the Island Master was being manipulated and it wasn’t her intention, now that the truth was clear, they still believed in her and hoped she would continue as the Island Master of Xia Gui Island.

The entire plaza followed suit, kneeling down collectively, and shouting for Xia Wu to continue as Island Master.

Looking at the sea of kneeling crowds, Xia Wu couldn’t hold back her tears. At home, as a mother, she could cry for her daughter, but as the Island Master of Xia Gui Island, amidst so many people’s expectations, she couldn’t afford to cry.

”Everyone, please stand up. It’s my mistake, and I must take on the responsibility; otherwise, I wouldn’t have the right to ask for your forgiveness. My decision is made. Today, I’ve called everyone to inform you of the truth and to communicate my decision, sincerely apologizing to all of you. From today onwards, Xia Gui Island will be as it was before. Even if I’m no longer the Island Master of Xia Gui Island, any affairs of Xia Gui Island are my responsibilities, and I will not hesitate to stand up whenever needed.”

Xia Wu stood up, then bent over and sincerely bowed thrice to the city’s citizens.

Since Xia Wu took over as Island Master, she’s been known for her autocratic ways. This was the first time in years she’d apologized publicly to the citizens, but inexplicably, the people of Xia Gui Island trusted her exceptionally.

Even Han Jing and the others did not anticipate Xia Wu to be so willing to take responsibility, improving their impression of her significantly.

At first, Han Jing had complained to Su Yu whether all the women in the Xia Clan were so fierce, seemingly holding a minor bias. However, Xia Wu turned out to be a uniquely admirable woman.

Shortly after leaving the plaza and returning to the Su Mansion, Xia Wu sent someone to pick up Han Jing and the others. They bid farewell to the Su family couple and Su Huan, then headed to the Island Master Mansion.

Xia Wu was already at the door to warmly welcome them. Upon seeing Xiao Xue being held in Lianwu’s arms, her eyes visibly brightened, her expression becoming gentle.

She seemed hesitant yet expectantly looked at Xiao Xue for a long time before softly asking, ”Who is this?”

Han Jing took Xiao Xue over and introduced her to Xia Wu with a smile, ”This is Xiao Xue,”

Then said to Xiao Xue, ”This is... Aunt, call her Aunt then.”

Since Xia Wu was a member of the Xia Clan, Xiao Xue should rightly call her Aunt.

Xiao Xue happily greeted Xia Wu, ”Hello, Aunt.”

Xia Wu nodded, a bit excited, even speaking incoherently, ”Good, good.”

Looking at such an adorable little girl, especially those clear and bright eyes, Xia Wu involuntarily thought of her own Zhu’er. When Zhu’er was small, she was just as darling.

Han Jing understood her feelings and said with a smile, ”Sister, do you want to hold her?”

Xia Wu was startled and excitedly asked, ”Can, can I?”

Xiao Xue immediately extended her arms and made a gesture for a hug with Xia Wu.
