The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 934: Chapter 934: A Subtle Slap in the Face

Xiao Xue was completely confused about the situation and asked in bewilderment, ”Why does my dad drink tea after drinking wine?”

Lan Ling...

Xiao Xue turned to Lianwu and asked, ”Brother Lianwu, do you know?”

Lianwu...

Just as Xiao Xue was puzzled, trying to understand what these adults were up to, Su Yu, holding a teacup, suddenly turned his head and looked over at them.

The Spirit Flame Sect has many disciples, who naturally don’t all stay in the arena to participate in the martial arts tournament. Therefore, most of the disciples are outside watching the excitement, clustered in groups. Although some curious people wondered about the identity of Lan Ling and the others, their outstanding looks and Spirit Flame Sect disciples’ attire, along with a senior from the sect accompanying them, made everyone focus on the competition, so few specifically paid attention to who they were.

But now that Su Yu glanced this way, it attracted quite a bit of attention, with everyone somewhat puzzled.

Su Yu’s gaze landed on Lan Ling, then glanced at Xiao Xue, who was being held by Lianwu. Lan Ling immediately understood Su Yu’s meaning and poked Xiao Xue: ”Your dad is calling you over.”

Xiao Xue was utterly confused and looked toward Su Yu.

From a distance, Su Yu nodded slightly at Xiao Xue, prompting Xiao Xue to clamber down from Lianwu’s arms and run towards Su Yu with little steps.

The arrival of a child at the main seat of the martial arts tournament instantly drew the attention of all present. When Su Yu held the child in his arms and people saw how the child’s appearance was nearly identical to Su Yu’s, they seemed to understand something instantly.

Meng Yuyou’s originally rosy face suddenly turned pale.

The crowd’s minds boiled over with speculation, quickly imagining more scenarios. When did the allegedly woman-averse Sect Leader of the Spirit Flame Sect have a daughter? This one looks undeniably like biological!

Now, this is truly interesting.

Meng Yuyou’s face shifted from red to white, then back to red, burning fiercely.

Regardless of whether Su Yu had married and had children, his public act of holding his daughter on his lap right when she came to toast him was akin to publicly delivering a slap to her face, and a rather fiery one at that.

Meng Yuyou’s breath was somewhat uneven.

Su Yu raised the cup in his hand, saying, ”Thank you for the Pavilion Master’s kindness. I’ll let my little girl drink this cup in place of wine; surely the Pavilion Master won’t mind?”

Su Yu didn’t say he wouldn’t drink, yet he didn’t drink it himself but let Xiao Xue take the cup of tea, clearly indicating, as the Sect Leader of Spirit Flame Sect, that he accepted the goodwill, but not the personal gesture.

The message was evident, yet hard to fault. After all, Meng Yuyou offered the toast in her capacity as Pavilion Master of Flower Spirit Pavilion; Su Yu didn’t refuse the wine, just had someone else accept it, someone very close to him, which was entirely appropriate. Conversely, Meng Yuyou’s face was hit repeatedly without being able to leave in a huff.

After all, she was the one who offered the toast, and Su Yu accepted it, clearly yet unobtrusively declining her private affections. Even if Meng Yuyou felt humiliated and furious, she couldn’t openly show it, lest she loses face and endures gossip about her attempting to seduce the Sect Leader of Spirit Flame Sect. So, if Meng Yuyou had any sense, she simply had to accept this outcome gracefully.
