The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 563: Chapter 563: Pitiful People Are Often Despicable

”What happened later... you almost all know, Consort Li certainly did not return. The day she left, a very heavy snow fell on the Capital City.” Qin Shutong looked at Han Jing, ”I thought... even if Consort Li hated the late Emperor’s actions, she had already poisoned the late Emperor and avenged the Ninth Imperial Uncle, she would definitely not implicate you. After all, you are also her biological daughter.”

Although Qin Shutong had thought about it, back then he was still young and had no opportunity to tell Consort Li the truth. The unknowing Consort Li might therefore not be close to the child, but when Consort Li left, she should have gone to find Fengxi. Eventually, the truth would have come out.

He never expected that eight years later, when Xichen returned to the Capital City, a casual question revealed that the child was already dead. He wanted to tell him the truth, but Xichen had deep taboos about Han Litong, and he had no chance to tell him about this matter.

Later, when Xichen went to the East Sea for more than ten years, he couldn’t possibly talk about such matters in a letter.

Thus, it was delayed, and he even thought he might never have the opportunity to reveal this secret for a lifetime until he met Han Jing in Yanjing City, where he was stunned at the time.

However, upon probing, he found that Han Jing had no connection whatsoever with Consort Li from back then, except that the person she was looking for was Xichen. He thought he was overthinking, but he didn’t expect that after coming here today, upon laying it all out, it would turn out to be such a truth.

Qin Shutong shook his head, ”It is fate playing its tricks.”

”Miss Han, I also apologize to you. If I had found the opportunity to tell the truth to Consort Li before she left the Qin Palace, she probably wouldn’t have abandoned you due to the misunderstanding that you were the late Emperor’s child. She might not have... might not have committed suicide either, perhaps then Fengxi would...”

Many things, if slightly changed, might have led to a different outcome.

Unfortunately, time cannot be rewound.

It’s not easy for Han Jing to digest this fact, yet her heart is strong enough that she still shook her head at Qin Shutong, ”It’s not your fault either, as you said, it’s fate playing its tricks. Besides, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being abandoned. The family I eventually gained was far more than I would have received had I not been abandoned. It’s just a pity...”

The words ”father” were also hard for Han Jing to utter.

As for someone as pitiful yet so hateful as Han Litong, Han Jing felt nothing. Saying she hated her would be too much. She always thought that the many hardships she endured were caused by the late Emperor, so she ruthlessly abandoned who she thought was the late Emperor’s child and despaired to the point of suicide. One can only imagine to what extent her mentality had collapsed back then.

It truly epitomizes the saying that those who are pitiful often have something hateful about them.

She really is grateful that Han Litong abandoned her, otherwise, following such a mother and being misunderstood as the child of an enemy, one can only imagine how tragic life would have been. With Han Jing’s former constitution, she would likely have died young.

She’s glad she was abandoned, allowing her to meet Su Yaogeng. Without years of meticulous nurturing and care from Su Yaogeng, she wouldn’t have lived so long.
