The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 558: Chapter 558: Han Jing’s True Origins (Part 3)

So... he really despised Han Litong.

Although he was quite young back then, he remembered things early, and being a child raised in an aristocratic family, which one of them was truly ignorant of worldly affairs? He still remembered everything that happened back then.

From the day Han Litong came to Yanjing City through a diplomatic marriage, there had been no peace. The late Emperor was fond of her, and several princes vied for her affection, fighting fiercely over her, often clashing violently. At that time, the words his grandfather said most often when he came home were, ”Beauty is a disaster.”

Han Litong was young and beautiful, and naturally would not fancy the aging late Emperor. Among the many princes, the Ninth Prince was handsome and elegant, brimming with talent, and eventually won her heart. Han Qingjue was the child she secretly bore with the Ninth Prince behind the late Emperor’s back. Then the late Emperor was poisoned by him, who ascended to the throne as the new Emperor, defying the court’s opposition. The first thing he did after ascending was to appoint Consort Li, imprisoning her in the inner palace.

Had he not just ascended the throne at that time, he might have considered making her the Empress.

In those two years, his adoptive father remained in the Capital City, secretly aiding her from behind the scenes.

Many times she wondered, since she wanted to die so much, why didn’t she choose suicide when she was imprisoned by the late Emperor, but instead chose to do so after she poisoned the late Emperor, left the Capital City, and was taken away by her adoptive father. Had it not been for saving her, her adoptive father would not have expended all his cultivation and died.

He furthermore did not understand, whether it was appearance, disposition, temperament, or prospects and power, his adoptive father was not inferior to anyone. Why did he choose to fall for Han Litong, and why would Han Litong rather linger in the absurdities of the palace life than leave with him early on?

His adoptive father died for Han Litong, a knot in his heart he could never unravel in this lifetime, no matter how many times his master told him that everyone had their fate, he couldn’t understand nor let it go.

Thus, he truly hated Han Litong, and because of this, he harbored resentment towards Han Jing’s face.

However... Han Jing truly didn’t care at all why Han Litong abandoned her, including who her father was, she was indifferent, as it had nothing to do with her.

Therefore, Han Jing waved her hand generously and said, ”The past is in the past, I wasn’t involved, and it doesn’t matter what the truth was. I came here sincerely to ask for your help, not to discuss who’s right or wrong, who’s innocent or guilty about the matters of the past. I also hope you don’t lump me together with those things and people. If you’re willing, I hope we can cooperate without any grudges, and work together to rescue your master.”

Lian Xichen felt rather uneasy towards the generous Han Jing and bowed once more, saying, ”I apologize.”

The most important thing now is to join forces to change the current state of the Spirit Cultivation Realm, defeat opponents, and find a way to rescue the master. We indeed should not dwell on the past events.

He truly saw things less clearly than Han Jing did, even though Han Jing was Han Litong’s daughter. More importantly, she was the wife of the senior brother and the mother of Xiao Xue. Even considering the face of the senior brother, he should not have that attitude towards her. Perhaps indeed it was because of the deep-seated grievances in his heart all these years. The reason why he delayed returning to the Spirit Cultivation Realm was not only to fulfill his grandfather’s dying wish. In reality, wasn’t it also a means of escape? No matter how hard he cultivated or what achievements he attained in the future, he could never seek revenge against Han Litong.
