The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 554: Chapter 554: I Won’t Follow Her Orders

Now that Dong Qin has stabilized, talents have emerged in the court over the years, so even if Xichen leaves, it’s no big deal.

Therefore, although Qin Shutong was reluctant, he still agreed with Lian Xichen going to do what he wanted.

”Brother Xichen, even the leader has encountered trouble. We really need your help right now, so... I hope you’ll seriously consider it.” Lan Ling looked at Lian Xichen’s expression, truly uncertain if he would assist.

But since even Emperor Qin Shutong has allowed it, there should be no problem, right?

”Uncle, uncle, don’t you want to come back with us? But Xiao Xue really likes you and wants to be with you.” Although Xiao Xue, the little girl, didn’t quite understand what the adults were saying, she grasped a very important point: Uncle Lanling was asking this uncle to come back with them, which meant she could often see him in the future, right?

Though she couldn’t recognize her biological father for the time being, this uncle was tall and handsome, fitting the standard of a father in her heart, and taking him back to fill the gap was acceptable.

So Xiao Xue tried very hard to act cute. An’an’s mother had told her that if she acted cute with enough effort, no one could resist her charm, and no matter what request she made, the other party would agree unconditionally.

Lian Xichen’s slightly somber face softened several degrees upon hearing Xiao Xue’s voice, and seeing the hopeful look in the young girl’s eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

This is the eldest brother’s daughter. He has many brothers and sisters, but... not one with true familial affection, not even the only sister from the same mother, who, to live a better life and marry well, spared no effort to curry favor with grandmother and stepmother, distancing from him, her own younger brother. He didn’t blame her. Growing up in such a noble family, without a protective biological mother, her life was no easier than his.

It was only after grandfather passed away that he no longer had any family.

The eldest brother was like a real older brother to him. Back then, foster father saved him from under the assassin’s blade, later took him away, rescued him from misery, and even before dying, entrusted the master to take care of him. Throughout his life, the person he was most grateful to were always the foster father. And those years in the Spirit Flame Sect were the happiest time of his life, devoid of stress and danger, spending the whole day practicing martial arts with the eldest brother. Often when recalling, those years seemed like a dream.

Now... with trouble befalling master and the eldest brother, it’s absolutely impossible for him to stand by and do nothing.

Lian Xichen nodded: ”I will go back with you, just that...”

Lian Xichen had always looked at Han Jing with some coldness, and his words were laced with disgust and hostility: ”I won’t follow her arrangements.”

Han Jing... damn you, what trouble have I caused you! Have I spoken a word for such a long time?

Han Jing narrowed his eyes and slightly raised the tone: ”What do you mean by this?”

Lian Xichen was still holding Xiao Xue, so he didn’t want to say much, and turned his gaze away as if he hadn’t heard.

Han Jing was truly a bit angry. Originally, in front of Qin Shutong, she didn’t want to expose her background that even she didn’t care much about, as it was a private matter really unnecessary to mention, but this Lian Xichen just because he saw her face, took a prejudice against her - wasn’t that too much?
