The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Brother Qiao (Part 3)

However, facing Han Jing’s call of ”Brother Qiao,” he involuntarily spoke out the words in his heart.

”My mother consort made mistakes back then, and when I was very young, I lived with her in the Cold Palace. Until one day when she died, I was hungry and sneaked out to find food. I was caught, and when they were about to beat me to death, the Imperial Uncle saved me and brought me back to the Prince Yu Mansion, personally educating me. The Imperial Uncle was often not at the mansion and instructed me to see my aunt if anything happened, so I often came here. Later, my aunt and the Imperial Uncle pleaded with my father, the Emperor, who agreed to take me back, but I didn’t want to go back. By then, I understood things, and I told the Imperial Uncle that I wanted to join the army camp. So the Imperial Uncle sent me to the Northern Land.”

At that time, Su Xingqiao was disgusted with his identity as a prince. He would rather not be a prince, just an ordinary person.

So when he went to the Northern Land, he told the Imperial Uncle not to reveal his identity to anyone; he wanted to rely on himself.

He wanted to become strong on his own, strong enough to protect those he wished to protect.

If he hadn’t happened to encounter the Imperial Uncle back then, he probably would have died.

So he never wanted to be a prince. Perhaps if he weren’t a prince, just a child from an ordinary family, he could still see his parents occasionally and experience family affection. He never knew what mistake his mother consort committed; he just couldn’t forget that whenever he was extremely hungry and called for her, she never responded until one day when she seemed to have fallen asleep and never woke up again. It was only after he went outside that he heard she had been dead for several days.

Therefore, compared to those years in the Capital City, he preferred staying in the Northern Land. By not having expectations, he didn’t have to worry about disappointment.

Han Jing never thought that a prince like Su Xingqiao would have such an experience. He clearly had parents, yet ended up like an orphan.

This made Han Jing feel a sense of empathy, like they shared a similar fate. In her past life, during childhood, she clearly had a home, but eventually, her family was destroyed, and she was taken to an assassin organization, living in that endless darkness for so many years.

Han Jing felt a bit stifled inside, thinking she shouldn’t have broached such a heavy topic.

”It was Su Yu who saved you?” Han Jing remembered Su Yaogeng mentioning that Su Yu was kind to Su Xingqiao. So, it turned out to be like this?

Su Xingqiao nodded, then somewhat curiously asked, ”Why does Jing’er address the Imperial Uncle by his name?”

As a junior, shouldn’t she call him uncle?

Han Jing was slightly embarrassed and quickly changed the subject, ”Uh, Brother Qiao, did you encounter anything interesting in the Northern Land? Tell me about it!”

Su Xingqiao couldn’t help but smile, picking out some amusing events from the military camp to tell her. They chatted and laughed and, without realizing it, had walked to the gates of the Princess Mansion. Originally, Han Jing only intended to accompany him out of the backyard, not expecting to escort him this far.

Su Xingqiao was also somewhat embarrassed and awkwardly said, ”Sorry to trouble Jing’er for sending me so far, you should head back now!”

Having talked with him along the way, Han Jing found that Su Xingqiao was indeed different from the other princes like Su Xingyan; he was quite a nice person, so she smiled and said, ”Then Brother Qiao, come to see me again when you have some free time!”
