Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1295: Chapter 1296: Mouth Asking for a Slap

Although Cheng Su agreed to her mother-in-law’s request to keep an eye out, she had decided from the start to just drag it out. She couldn’t touch this hot potato, especially with that aunt’s character and that cousin Weiqiu, who clearly had high aspirations. She didn’t dare find a good match for her!

After hearing that aunt’s sarcastic remarks, she was even less inclined to be complimentary!

”Not everyone is as lucky as the Taiguo’s wife, able to marry someone of Taiguo’s character. We don’t expect to marry such a high-ranking official like Taiguo, just three meals a day, being considerate and having good character is enough!” said the aunt.

Deng Weiqiu looked at Cheng Su with great anticipation.

Cheng Su just smiled and said nothing.

The aunt frowned and wanted to say something more, but Cheng Su said to Mother Qi and Father Qi, ”Dad, Mom, I need to go home for the festival tomorrow, the day after is the Mid-Autumn Festival. After that, I’ll help Xiao Yun transfer schools, then go back to Qing City. It’s hard for Taiguo coming back from his mission, I should make him something good to eat!”

At the mention of her son, Mother Qi could only agree, saying, ”When you go back, take a few chickens with you to nourish him.”

Cheng Su responded with a smile.

”What, is Xiao Yun going to study in Qing City?” The aunt was taken aback.

”Yes, Aunt, since I work in Qing City, I thought of taking her with me. She can attend sixth grade there and it’d be easier to look after her when she goes to middle school!” Qi Fenglian said, ”When Baobao gets a bit older, I’ll take him too, so he can attend kindergarten over there!”

”That’s good, since after all, you’re divorced. It’s not great to keep staying at your parents’ house, people talk. The neighbors chatter on and on, it doesn’t look good. Going to Qing City is good.” The aunt said.

Cheng Su nearly spat out her tea, gave her a look, then glanced at Qi Fenglian.

Even someone as good-tempered as Qi Fenglian was now visibly upset and stiff, saying, ”I’m not afraid of people’s gossip. Divorce isn’t a big deal. I live well and comfortably with my kids, don’t have to tiptoe around or mind anyone’s face, what’s not good about that! If you always care about others’ opinions and let their words dictate your life, you’ll be exhausted!”

The aunt’s face darkened as she was stuck for words.

Cheng Su cheered internally, this aunt’s mouth really needed to be smacked, how could she have such low emotional intelligence? You can’t just say such things in front of others, you’ll offend them as soon as you open your mouth.

”Moreover, no one has stipulated that a divorced daughter can’t return to her parents’ house. It’s tough handling two kids on my own. I ask for my parents’ help, and I pay them for their troubles. Anyone who badmouths that has a malicious heart,” Qi Fenglian added.

”If it feels right for you, then it is, moving to Qing City, becoming city people.” The aunt caught the implication and forced a smile.

Qi Fenglian found the aunt really boring, so she said, ”Being city folk or not, it’s all the same. What’s important is living comfortably. With constant troubles, no matter how much money or whether you have a man, isn’t it still frustrating? Aunt, you understand that.”

Before the aunt’s face could turn darker, she stood up and called to her daughter, ”Go take a bath and pack your things.” Saying this, she took Xiao Yun and left.

The aunt was stunned, turned to Mother Qi, ”Fenglian’s temper has grown!”

Cheng Su lowered her head, took a sip of tea to hide the cold smile on her lips, clearly it was the aunt’s own inability to speak appropriately, revealing people’s scars.

The aunt wanted to say something more, but Weiqiu pulled her and gave a look, so she held back, feeling uncomfortable inside.
