Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1293: Chapter 1294: A Hot Potato

Upon hearing that it was about finding a match for Weiqiu, Mother Qi let out a slight sigh of relief and said, ”I thought it was something else. With Weiqiu’s looks and character, finding a match shouldn’t be difficult, leave it to me!”

Hearing this, Erzhen’s aunt also sighed and said, ”Erzhen, it’s actually not that easy. Look at me, what else do I have to rely on, only Weiqiu. If she gets married, I’d have to go with her.”

”Huh?” Mother Qi was stunned.

Erzhen’s aunt looked a little embarrassed. Following her traditional mindset, she definitely wanted to return to her roots, being cared for by her son until the end of her life, and then being buried together with her late husband. This fulfilled her lifelong intention of observing chastity.

But the reality is, Deng Weixia ran away, and she herself had a stroke. Without anyone to take care of her, she feared she might die without anyone knowing.

Therefore, the person Deng Weiqiu marries had better agree to let her live with her daughter and son-in-law. Even if not, living nearby would be fine, at least to have some assistance.

Mother Qi listened, bewildered.

There’s nothing wrong with getting married, but taking one’s mother along with the marriage, no one in the village has ever done that, so how do we handle this?

Seeing her expression, Erzhen’s aunt felt even more embarrassed, wishing she could dig a hole and disappear.

But what could she do? She had no other way. Was she truly supposed to jump into a well?

Erzhen’s aunt started crying again and said, ”I know, it’s a difficult request, but I have no husband or sons to depend on, and my health is like this. If I hadn’t had a stroke, I could still take care of myself. How could I have such a thought? It’s my fate!”

Mother Qi started to have a headache and forced a smile, ”Sister, stop crying. Weiqiu is only twenty, not too old. We can take our time. We’ll find someone.”

Erzhen’s aunt nodded and said, ”Taiguo and your daughter-in-law know many people. Why don’t you ask them if they know anyone suitable? Weiqiu is a good girl; she was just born unlucky...”

Mother Qi forced a smile, feeling like she had taken on a hot potato, painfully burning her palms.

...

Cheng Su got up from a nap, stretched a few times, and began to help clean up the house.

Even though everything was organized after the banquet, the sanitation still needed attention.

Mother Qi and others rested and got up, seeing Cheng Su tidying up, couldn’t help but nod in satisfaction.

At today’s banquet, Cheng Su handled the guests effortlessly and received praise from many people. Mother Qi didn’t express it, but she felt proud because who doesn’t like hearing good words, even though she wasn’t particularly fond of the daughter-in-law.

But upon hearing she was planning to have a child, her perception naturally improved a bit. Now seeing Cheng Su about to lift the large basket filled with dishes, she quickly stopped her.

”Hey hey, don’t lift that!” Mother Qi hurried over and said, ”These dishes need to be returned to others, and they are heavy. What if you drop them? How will we compensate them?”

Cheng Su sheepishly agreed not to lift them.

”Since you’re planning to have a child, save your back and waist strength. Don’t always carry heavy things; it will harm your back and abdomen.” Mother Qi added.

Cheng Su stumbled and looked at her mother-in-law, realizing that was why she was told not to lift it!

Mother Qi felt a bit uneasy too and, remembering the sister’s request, called her into the kitchen.

Though puzzled, Cheng Su followed her in. But upon hearing Mother Qi’s words, her brows furrowed.

”Mom, you’re not actually considering it, are you?” To find Deng Weiqiu a good match? But bringing along her mother to marry — where would you find such a family? Even if they agreed, it wouldn’t likely be a very good family.

And those from good families, who would want to marry someone with such a big burden? Of course, unless they are rich! But does Deng Weiqiu have that?
