Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1290: Chapter 1291: Open Provocation

The banquet at the Qi family’s place was lively. As the host, Father Qi drank quite a bit of the toasts, getting somewhat tipsy. Cheng Su herself just took a small sip, politely declining more with the excuse that she was planning to have a baby, so she shouldn’t drink too much.

This made Mother Qi’s eyes light up, and her gaze towards Cheng Su became more gentle.

As for Qi Jianguo, he also drank several cups. According to others, he’d gotten into university and was now an adult. As a manly man, how could he not know how to drink? How could he pursue a big career in the future without drinking? Consequently, he drank until his face turned as red as a monkey’s rump.

He managed to hold out, with a few high school students asking him for advice, and he was still able to speak coherently.

The banquet was noisy and continued until two or three in the afternoon before dispersing. Everyone helped tidy up, and Mother Qi had the leftover dishes divided among the families who had helped out today.

Dividing the banquet leftovers among those who helped could be considered a gesture of thanks; this was an unwritten rule in Huangtian Village.

Besides, the Qi family only had a few members, and there was too much food for them to finish. Sharing it would also earn them a reputation for generosity.

The banquet ended happily, leaving only the family members sitting in the main hall talking.

Seeing that the room was filled with the smell of alcohol, both father-in-law and her own father had drunk a bit too much, so Cheng Su went to boil some kudzu root tea for them to help sober up.

”In-laws, feeling happy today? Jianguo has a bright future, no worries!” Father Cheng smiled and said to Father Qi.

Father Qi laughed heartily, ”Happy indeed, don’t worry, your son Cheng Zhi will have his day too.”

”That rascal of mine? He’s not that capable. He’s already talking about quitting school. If he can just finish high school, I’ll be content!” Father Cheng said with a bitter smile, waving his hand.

”What’s this? The boy doesn’t want to study anymore?” Father Qi was a bit surprised.

Cheng Su was also a bit taken aback, looking at her father.

”His third uncle plans to start his own business. Now he wants to follow his third uncle and explore the world. Look at this, oh...” Father Cheng shook his head.

Cheng Su frowned, thinking she’d have to ask about this carefully when she got home.

”Don’t worry too much. Young people today have their own ideas. You don’t necessarily have to go to college to be successful. Who knows, maybe your Cheng Zhi will be a big boss in the future!” Father Qi comforted.

Mother Cheng chimed in, ”As long as he doesn’t get into trouble, it’ll be a relief, let alone being a big boss!”

”In-law, don’t underestimate him. The kid is still young; no one knows if he’s a dragon or a worm yet!” Father Qi laughed heartily.

”Exactly, his big sister is already doing big business. Why worry he can’t be helped?” Aunt suddenly interrupted, ”Not to mention, the sister just needs to give him a little help, and he could start a business!”

Mother Cheng and Father Cheng frowned.

Cheng Su felt anger stir in her heart. She’s openly trying to cause trouble for her!

Suppressing her anger, Cheng Su replied blandly, ”Aunt, that’s easy for you to say. If it were that simple, wouldn’t everyone be rich and no one poor? Be it business or working, nothing is easy. Every industry is tough. Oh, working might even be easier than doing business, since it requires less worry. As for being a boss, it’s not just about putting in work!”

Aunt was stung by her words, her face turning a bit sour, only looking towards Mother Qi: ”Erzhen, my head is dizzy, I can’t handle any stimulation, is there somewhere I can rest?”

”Go rest in my room!” Mother Qi glared at Cheng Su, quickly leading Aunt to her own room.
