Entry: I Secretly Cultivate Immortality in the Martial Arts World

228: Chapter 228 The Birth of the Spirit Monkey! The Supreme Creation Small Luo Grotto-Heaven, Hall of Longevity.

Gu Yan sat upright on the taixu guiyuan prayer mat, Cultivating diligently.

Although he hadn’t personally done a single thing regarding external matters,

at the end of the day, all the work performed by those Incarnations would ultimately be credited to him, the original body.

Someone might ask: You sit in the Grotto-Heaven all day doing nothing, so how is all the credit yours?

Gu Yan had his own internal ledger.

He Cultivated every day without fail.

Climbing up from the second level of the Immortal King Realm, every increase in Realm meant that the upper limits of his Incarnations rose accordingly.

No matter how good an Incarnation was at fighting, their strength could never exceed the original body.

If the original body was weak and an Incarnation got beaten up outside, he wouldn’t even have the ability to stand up for them.

Therefore, while he seemed to be doing nothing, he was actually doing the most important thing.

To put it in common terms, if you don’t have a mine at home, how are you going to distribute rice to the whole village?

Without powerful strength, how could he bring love and peace to the All Heavens and Myriad Worlds? How could he develop the Dao of Great Unity?

Was he supposed to rely on talk therapy?

Gu Yan thought of this and felt that being the original body was truly not easy.

...

On this day, in the distance from the Taiyi Dao Sect, Mount Buzhou—which was shrouded in mist year-round—suddenly underwent a change.

Atop the mountain peak, a five-colored stone vibrated violently.

The stone was covered in flowing light and vibrant colors, with a five-colored brilliance rotating ceaselessly.

Crack.

A tiny crack spread from the top of the stone.

Following that, a second, a third, a fourth.

The cracks became more numerous and dense, and five-colored brilliance poured out from the fissures, illuminating the entire peak of Mount Buzhou.

Boom!

A loud explosion rang out.

The five-colored stone burst apart.

Amidst the flying debris and permeating dust, a golden light shot out from the stone, heading straight for the clouds.

It was a monkey.

Its entire body emitted a faint golden glow.

It flipped up from the rubble, stood at the highest point of the peak, and let out a long howl toward the sky.

The howl was immature, yet it carried an indescribable wildness.

Even more startling were its eyes.

Golden light flared within its eye sockets like two pillars of golden light, shooting straight toward the firmament.

Gu Yan had noticed it from the moment the five-colored stone began to vibrate.

Now, looking at the little monkey baring its teeth on the mountain peak, his heart stirred slightly.

This monkey reminded him of the Journey to the West he had read in his past life.

When the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, Sun Wukong, was born, he also leaped out from a stone.

He also directed two beams of golden light from his eyes that shot toward the Bull and Dipper constellations.

It was just that the mountain where that Great Sage resided was the Flower-Fruit Mountain.

The stone that birthed the Great Sage was thirty-six feet five inches high and twenty-four feet in circumference, with nine apertures and eight holes arranged according to the Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams—it was very sophisticated.

This five-colored stone in his Grotto-Heaven had no such apertures.

In terms of material, it could be considered extraordinary, but it was nowhere near the level of being nurtured by heaven and earth or becoming a natural spiritual fetus.

As the master of the Supreme Creation Small Luo Grotto-Heaven, Gu Yan knew every blade of grass and every tree within it like the back of his hand.

The reason this five-colored stone could nurture a monkey inside was purely accidental.

The five-colored stone was originally a special Spirit Stone that possessed a bit of spirituality, but that was all.

What truly allowed it to nurture a living being was that before Gu Yan obtained the Supreme Creation Small Luo Grotto-Heaven, a monkey had been injured and fled to the vicinity of this Spirit Stone.

Blood dripped from the wound and happened to seep into the Spirit Stone.

That drop of blood contained the monkey’s life essence, which fused with the Spirit Stone’s spirituality, slowly nurturing an embryo.

Later, Gu Yan became the master of the Supreme Creation Small Luo Grotto-Heaven.

This stone was also picked up by his spirit pet Blue and his mount Mo Xuan; they thought it looked nice, so they carried it in their mouths to the peak of Mount Buzhou and left it there.

Exposed to the sun, rain, wind, and dew, it eventually became a part of the scenery.

Later still, the Twin Stars of the Great Sun and Great Yin appeared above the Taiyi Dao Sect, releasing astral power day and night.

This stone absorbed that astral power day and night, which accelerated the growth of the embryo inside, leading to its early birth.

Otherwise, according to the original speed, it would have taken at least a few thousand years for this thing to truly take shape.

So this monkey, in the end, was not the descendant of some ancient divine ape, nor was it an immortal fetus produced by some Earthly Spiritual Root.

It was just the offspring of an ordinary monkey.

It was just that with the Spirit Stone as its mother, it had been born into this world in an unconventional way.

Gu Yan withdrew his thoughts and let his Divine Sense fall upon the little monkey once more.

The little fellow had already stopped howling and was squatting in the pile of rubble, looking around.

With its golden light gradually fading, its eyes curiously observed everything around it.

Gu Yan knew this monkey had no connection whatsoever to that Great Sage Equaling Heaven.

In terms of origins, talent, and background, they were worlds apart.

Yet, he somehow found himself liking this little monkey.

It couldn’t be helped.

After all, that indomitable monkey who dared to wreak Havoc in the Heavenly Palace was one of the characters he had admired in his past life.

Now, seeing such a little thing jump out of a stone, even if it was just a knock-off version, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy.
