Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Parenting experience?

Chen Guobin scratched his head. ’I don’t have any of that!’ he thought.

His parenting philosophy for Chen Yansen had always been ”free-range with a few kicks for good measure.” If he didn’t listen, he’d get a boot.

If he said that out loud, wouldn’t he become a laughingstock?

At this thought, Lao Chen’s face burned, and for the first time, he felt a twinge of regret. ’I really shouldn’t have kicked my son so much.’

So he quickly waved his hands and said, ”Teacher Zhang, we’ve known each other for a while. To be honest with you, ever since Chen Yansen started high school, I haven’t even asked about his homework.”

”That’s not a problem. We’ve already written the speech for you.”

Zhang Li said with a gentle smile, handing him a draft of the speech.

The school didn’t really want Chen Guobin to share any damn parenting advice. They were clearly after his status as the ”father of the founder of Senlian Capital, the dad of a fifty-billion-yuan tycoon.”

Chen Guobin took the script and read it over carefully. The content was logical and clear, striking a balance between sincerity and approachability.

But the Chen Yansen described in the speech—respectful of teachers and elders, a friend to all his classmates, studying until ten-thirty every night—did that have anything to do with his own son?

Lao Chen let out a dry laugh. He wasn’t thick-skinned enough; he really wasn’t used to telling such blatant lies.

...

...

”I have always believed that the prerequisite for education is respect. Ever since Chen Yansen was a child, I have always communicated with him as a friend.

Furthermore, cultivating effective study methods is far more important than blindly chasing grades. During his final push in his senior year of high school, Chen Yansen would study late into the night until ten-thirty...”

In an office on the top floor of the Zhuxianzhuang Science and Technology Park, Chen Yansen watched the video of Lao Chen’s speech at his alma mater and gave a helpless smile.

’Who wrote this script?’

’It’s all fucking bullshit!’

”Boss, the Orange Technology weekly meeting is scheduled for two o’clock this afternoon in conference room A6 on the eighth floor.”

The door was ajar. Chen Jie stood at the entrance, knocked twice, and reminded him softly.

She paused before continuing, ”President Ye from the branding department has already coordinated with the production team of Lizhi TV’s ’Winning in Hua Country’. You, along with Ma Liyun of Ah Li, Liu Chengzhi of Lenovo, and Shi Yuzhu of Giant Group, will be the mentors for the first season. The first episode will be filmed on April 15th.”

”Next Tuesday, the IT Leaders Summit will be held in Shencheng City. Your plane ticket has been booked.”

”Mm, I know,” Chen Yansen nodded slightly.

”Winning in Hua Country” was an entrepreneur-focused reality show. Besides the startup mentors, the guests for the first episode included Yao Jinbo, Lei Yijun, Li Xiang, Wang Xiaofei, Mao Geping, and others.

The only difference was that Chen Yansen was serving as a mentor, while Lei Yijun and the others were playing the role of contestants.

Everyone shared the same goal: to promote their own products!

After finishing her report, Chen Jie quietly exited the office.

Chen Yansen raised his hand to check his watch. It was 11:50, just in time for lunch.

It had been a while since he’d had the cafeteria chef’s hand-pulled noodles, and he found himself missing them.

He pushed the door open, left his office, took the elevator down to the first floor, and ambled toward the cafeteria.

”Boss!”

”Brother Sen!”

The greetings never stopped along the way.

In the eyes of the average employee, Chen Yansen was an ”Immortal Boss.” With an 800-yuan monthly meal allowance and the cafeteria’s prices, three meals a day were essentially free.

What with their monthly salary, housing subsidies, transportation allowances, quarterly bonuses, and overtime pay, they were raking it in. There were cash-filled red envelopes for holidays and even a lottery on employees’ birthdays.

Many recent college graduates truly treated the company as their home!

Even full-time customer service staff had a base salary of 3,000 yuan a month. Including all the benefits, their pre-tax income easily exceeded 6,000 yuan.

Food was free, and they received a 600-yuan monthly housing subsidy.

Housing prices in the suburbs of Xucheng were only three to four thousand yuan per square meter. How expensive could the rent be?

yuan was enough to rent a studio apartment!

After all, the teacher’s apartment Chen Yansen himself was renting only cost four or five hundred a month.

”Boss!” Mike Keller and Wu Shengyu were walking and discussing the architecture design for the Celestial Craft A100 when they looked up and saw Chen Yansen not far away.

The two of them jogged a few steps to catch up.

”Mike, Lao Wu,” Chen Yansen said, stopping to greet them.

The three of them chatted as they walked, quickly entering the cafeteria.

Compared to six months ago, the cafeteria’s layout had changed significantly.

The Science and Technology Park’s original self-operated cafeteria had long since closed down. Now, only the Senlian Capital cafeteria remained.

The left side was the Western food section, mainly serving the R&D engineers from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and Tiangong Technology. The right side was the Chinese food section, with mostly domestic employees lining up at the windows.

Of course, this group of R&D staff from Europe and America would occasionally switch things up and boldly try Chinese food. Likewise, domestic employees would sometimes head to the Western food section if the lines were too long.

”One bowl of beef noodles, extra beef.”

Chen Yansen called out his order to the noodle chef.

”You got it, coming right up! No scallions, extra cilantro, right?” the noodle chef asked with a cheerful grin.

Chen Yansen smiled and nodded.

SMACK!

Someone tapped him lightly on the shoulder.

Chen Yansen turned around and saw Meng Jie standing on her tiptoes. He subconsciously wanted to pat her on the head.

Meng Jie giggled and dodged to the side. ”We’re at the office.”

Chen Yansen rolled his eyes and lowered his voice. ”Want to go to the hot springs in Shidu tomorrow? I bought you a swimsuit.”

”It’s not another one of those weird outfits, is it?” Meng Jie’s voice was very soft, as if she were a thief. Her eyelashes fluttered, and her eyes were bright and moist.

The twenty-one-year-old girl had just shed the last of her youthful innocence, making her appear all the more charming and lovely, with plump, pink lips.

”I’m not telling. It’ll be a surprise,” Chen Yansen replied.

”It’s clearly a surprise for yourself,” Meng Jie pointed out bluntly.

”Aren’t you happy? Every time, you...” Chen Yansen said with a wicked grin, but before he could finish, Meng Jie covered his mouth.

”Don’t talk nonsense,” Meng Jie begged, her lips turning down in a pitiful pout, her face beet red.

She was the lively and cheerful type, but she couldn’t handle President Chen’s teasing. She was bold in private, but easily flustered in public.

”Boss, your beef noodles are ready!” the noodle chef called out.

Chen Yansen looked up. Wow, there was at least half a pound of beef in the bowl.

”I’ll wait for you over there,” Chen Yansen said, looking around and pointing to an empty table.

Meng Jie agreed.

Chen Yansen had just sat down with his noodles when Huang Zheng sidled up, a broad smile on his face. ”Sunning had a bug this morning. Refrigerators were listed for ten yuan each, but all the user orders were canceled.”

”Was it their own inventory or a third-party seller?” Chen Yansen pressed.

”Third-party,” Huang Zheng replied with a smile.

Half a month ago, Zhang Jindong had latched onto Jingdong’s one-yuan Group Buy bug incident, secretly encouraging users to file complaints or sue Jingdong.

He never expected his own comeuppance to arrive so quickly!

”Regarding backend pricing, talk it over with Zhuang Rui when you have time. I don’t want to see this kind of thing happening on Pinbei.”

Chen Yansen said after a moment of thought.

Generally, when a pricing bug occurs, a huge platform with deep pockets and a thick ”health bar” can bite the bullet and absorb the loss.

But what about the third-party merchants on the platform?

For a ten-yuan refrigerator, even if only a few thousand units were sold, the value of the goods would be over several million yuan. A major brand could grit its teeth and bear it, but for a distributor, it would be a devastating disaster.

In reality, Chen Yansen also knew that these merchants who got ”fleeced” were, nine times out of ten, up to no good themselves.

A ten-yuan price tag was obviously set by the merchant to inflate their sales numbers, but someone discovered it with a web crawler and spread the word.

”Yes, Boss,” Huang Zheng immediately replied.

Pinbei Mall’s controls in this area were extremely strict, because inflating sales numbers not only harmed user interests but also reduced the platform’s revenue.

If everyone faked their sales, who would pay for the platform’s marketing tools to buy traffic?

「Meanwhile.」

Far away in the Lighthouse Country, Liu Qiangdong heard about the situation and immediately logged onto Weibo and Toutiao to call out Zhang Jindong by name: ”You’re an absolute disgrace to the entrepreneurs of Sujiang! Where’s your sense of responsibility?”

Jingdong at least paid out tens of millions in compensation, but Sunning was being a total cheapskate.

Handsome Dong went for the jugular, attaching a screenshot of Zhang Jindong’s previous Weibo post, which clearly stated: ”If Sunning were to encounter such a situation, we would definitely honor the contract.”

The netizens whose orders were canceled hadn’t actually expected the ten-yuan refrigerators to ship, but Zhang Jindong’s Weibo post was just too shameless.

Comparing the two, Jingdong’s handling of the situation was a dozen times better.

Zhang Jindong didn’t respond, pretending he didn’t see it.

Liu Qiangdong delivered the finishing blow: ”I suggest that the buyers whose orders were canceled use the Market Supervision Association or legal action to protect their rights.”

”Damn you! What’s this got to do with you?” Zhang Jindong was furious. He made up his mind to teach Handsome Dong a lesson during the 618 shopping festival.
