Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

”Do you know how to type on a computer?” Chen Yansen asked after a moment’s thought.

”I do,” the rider replied, nodding eagerly.

”Leave me a phone number. I’ll arrange a job for her in Pinbei Mall’s Customer Service Department,” Chen Yansen arranged immediately.

”Boss, does she have to go to Xucheng?” the rider quickly asked.

”It’s online customer service. She can work from home,” Chen Yansen explained simply.

”I don’t know how to thank you,” the rider said, bowing repeatedly.

”Just work hard and take good care of your family,” Chen Yansen said with a smile.

Just then, the Kuai Pao Rider named Gao Bo came over, holding a plate of braised dried tofu and carrying two bottles of beer.

”Boss, let me toast you! May your wealth multiply, may you grow ever more handsome, marry seven wives, and have eight children!”

”President Chen, Happy New Year!”

”Boss, I’ll down mine. You can drink as much as you like!”

A total of five Kuai Pao Riders came up to toast him one by one, and Chen Yansen accepted every drink.

In the blink of an eye, the two bottles of beer were empty.

”A red envelope for each of you. I also wish you all to buy houses, get married, and have children soon.”

Chen Yansen pulled a thick stack of red envelopes from his pocket and stuffed one into each of their hands.

Ten minutes later, he and Song Yuncheng left the Shaxian County diner.

As soon as they stepped outside, he returned the Electric Vehicle to the accompanying staff, then got into a Mercedes S600L and headed for the hotel where the annual party was being held.

At 11:30 that night, photos of Chen Yansen in an orange windbreaker, eating a duck leg rice bowl with his riders at a Shaxian County diner, quickly shot to the top of the trending topics.

”Did Shaxian County diners get a spokesman?”

”@President Chen Yansen, whatever Shaxian County paid you, my Lanzhou Noodles will pay double!”

”Huang Men Ji Mi Fan is willing to pay triple!”

”I get it now! President Chen loves duck leg rice bowls too!”

”Anyone know which Shaxian County diner President Chen ate at? I’m gonna go check it out tomorrow!”

The comment section was buzzing.

Trending twice in one day, the buzz around Chen Yansen and Kuai Pao stayed firmly in the top ten.

News reports about Liu Qiangdong delivering packages followed close behind, listed right under President Chen’s trending topic.

The next morning, Chen Yansen took a car back to Xucheng, while Song Yuncheng drove back to Luzhou alone for the New Year.

”Xiaoli, I forgot to tell you. Starting in February, your base salary will be raised to sixteen thousand.”

Chen Yansen said casually on the way back.

”Thank you, Boss.” Xiaoli’s face lit up with joy, and he instantly felt that the past six-plus months of work hadn’t been in vain.

With a base salary of sixteen thousand, a housing subsidy of thirty-two hundred, plus benefits like transportation and meal allowances and quarterly bonuses, his monthly pre-tax income would be at least twenty to thirty thousand.

Among the comrades from his military service who were discharged at the same time, very few earned over ten thousand a month, let alone twenty or thirty thousand.

In reality, the HR department had initially selected three drivers from the security staff. He was kept on by Chen Yansen because he was the steadiest driver, spoke the least, and was the most tight-lipped.

「Meanwhile.」

「Chunshen, Chessboard Street.」

A light gray Porsche Cayenne slowly pulled to a stop at the alley entrance. Wang Zihao pushed open the car door, walked around to the back, and lifted the many bags, large and small, from the trunk. He then strode proudly toward his home.

”My goodness, a Porsche! Whose relative is that?”

”It’s Wang Zhanjun’s son! I saw him get out of the car with my own eyes!”

”Wang Zihao? That dark, chubby kid? Isn’t he in college in Xucheng?”

”You don’t know? His son is Chen Yansen’s childhood friend.”

”Hiss! The Wang Zhanjun family really hit the jackpot.”

In the narrow alley, uncles and aunties from the neighborhood chattered excitedly amongst themselves at their doorsteps.

”Ziyan, I hear a commotion outside. Go take a look and see if your brother is back.”

Wen Shumei was holding a winnowing basket, busy rolling beef meatballs. With her hands full, she gave the order to Prince Ziyuan, who was standing to the side.

”My brother has a key.” Prince Ziyuan clutched her phone, staring blankly at the chat window on the screen. She had sent him more than ten messages, but there hadn’t been a single reply.

’That son of a bitch Chen Yansen, don’t even think about coming to my house for a free meal this New Year!’

Prince Ziyuan thought angrily.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—! The knocking at the door grew louder.

”Hurry and get the door, your brother’s back!” Wen Shumei’s face lit up, and she urged her on.

Prince Ziyuan immediately put down her phone and ran outside.

”Brother, where’s Chen Yansen?” Prince Ziyuan pushed open the door and saw Wang Zihao from a distance, carrying more than a dozen gift boxes. Not seeing Chen Yansen, she couldn’t help but ask.

”Brother Sen is spending the New Year in Xucheng. He didn’t come back to Chunshen this year,” Wang Zihao explained.

”Oh.” Prince Ziyuan felt a wave of disappointment and was about to walk back inside with her head down.

”Prince Ziyuan! I’m your actual brother! Open the gate for me first!” Seeing this, Wang Zihao was so exasperated he almost laughed.

Hearing this, Prince Ziyuan finally snapped out of it, trotted over, and pulled open the courtyard gate for Wang Zihao.

”Where’s Dad?” Wang Zihao asked.

”He went winter swimming with Uncle Zhou and Uncle Zhao. He’s probably at the dumpling restaurant drinking by now,” Prince Ziyuan replied.

”Hah, that old coot never listens to advice. He’s almost fifty, fooling around all day. He caught a cold from winter swimming last year, and you and Mom don’t even try to talk him out of it,” Wang Zihao said with a grim face.

SLAP!

Wang Zihao felt a sharp pain on his forehead as if he had been smacked. He instinctively turned around and, sure enough, saw a furious Wang Zhanjun.

”Dad,” Wang Zihao said with an awkward laugh.

”I’m not your dad. I’m the ’old coot who never listens to advice’,” Wang Zhanjun retorted, his face stern.

”Just kidding, trying to liven things up. Don’t mind me. I bought you tea, Hua-zi, and Moutai,” Wang Zihao said sheepishly.

”Moutai? I guess you have some conscience after all, you brat.” As soon as Wang Zhanjun heard there was good liquor and cigarettes, his anger vanished.

”This one’s from me, this one is from Chen Yansen to show his respect, and the rest are gifts for Ziyan and my mom.” Wang Zihao separated seven or eight gift bags and stuffed them directly into Wang Zhanjun’s hands.

”Where’s Xiaosen?” Wang Zhanjun asked curiously.

”He didn’t come back to Chunshen. He’s probably spending the New Year in Xucheng,” Wang Zihao replied.

”Then Lao Chen is in a bit of a sad state. I told him back then to kick Xiaosen a little less, but he just wouldn’t listen,” Wang Zhanjun said, gloating.

He paused, then added, ”Invite your Uncle Chen over tomorrow. It’ll be more lively with more people.”

That was just Wang Zhanjun’s personality. He might mock him, but he knew full well that his own son’s success was all thanks to Chen Yansen’s support.

Now that he knew, there was no way he would let Lao Chen spend the New Year alone.

”Even if you hadn’t said anything, I was going to invite Uncle Chen anyway,” Wang Zihao said with a wide grin.

After all, Chen Yansen had called him before the holiday to specifically ask him to do so.

”Brother, is there a gift for me?” Prince Ziyuan chimed in.

”Yep,” Wang Zihao said.

”Which bag is it?” Prince Ziyuan looked down, rummaging through them.

”None of these.” Wang Zihao held back a mischievous grin. Then he turned around, relaxed his sphincter, and let out a loud fart.

”A fart for you,” Wang Zihao said triumphantly.

Then, before Prince Ziyuan could react, he swaggered into the house.

”Dad, your son is too much!”

Prince Ziyuan complained, pinching her nose with an aggrieved look.

”Er... go talk to your mom.” Wang Zhanjun, holding the heavy Moutai and tea, looked as if it had nothing to do with him.

’Accepting a gift puts one in a position of obligation. The Moutai isn’t even in my belly yet; I can’t just beat my son right away, can I?’

Prince Ziyuan looked around, found a wooden stick in the corner, and menacingly chased after him.

After Wen Shumei spent a good while persuading them, the siblings finally put down their respective ’weapons’.

”Here, Happy New Year.” Of course, Wang Zihao hadn’t forgotten to buy her a gift. He handed over two exquisite gift boxes.

It was obvious that one was from him, and the other was from Chen Yansen.

「On the other side.」

Chen Yansen returned to the Delta Villa District. The several-hundred-square-meter house was empty and desolate.

President Chen wasn’t used to sleeping alone, so he took out his phone and sent a text message.

He lay on the soft couch and fed the few ”brocade pigs” in the pond before getting up, going upstairs to the study, and opening his computer to check the data backend.

7,400 users had already collected all five ”Fu,” and each could share in the prize pool, getting 11,400 Hua Yuan.

With just over a day left until the prize was drawn, the scalper price for the ”Dedication Fu” had risen slightly, returning to the 3,000 yuan level.

’If this were Lao Ma, he’d release a million ”Dedication Fu” cards on the last day,’ Chen Yansen grumbled to himself.
