CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 70: Chapter 78: Enlightenment

”I don’t want to do that, the method is not effective.” Jane Sampson shook her head directly, ”Making a call before sleep every day, then asking him what he did today, who he met, what he ate? James Black might think I’m so in love with him that I can’t help myself, showing concern for his life, and if it backfires, that I end up going home every weekend or even joining the guard team, wouldn’t I just be shooting myself in the foot?”

James Black had mentioned joining the guard team twice already, and Jane Sampson didn’t want to give him a third chance to bring it up.

Besides, James Black is so boring, how awkward would it be to talk to him on the phone?

A call, one sentence, and then hang up?

If it really went like that, James Black would definitely think she was subtly reminding him that it was time to go home for the weekend.

”Your brain today...” Nina Rice reached out and touched her head, has it finally clicked?

Even after all her sweet talking, she actually didn’t fall for it?

”But you are right about one thing, the internet realm’s trick doesn’t work, James Black is unlike most people, I need to rethink and plan carefully.” Jane said with a giggle, ”The mobile phone strategy seems quite good to me, I think that normal people really hate others tampering with their phones, so I should learn this trick.”

”Hmm.” Nina Rice raised her eyebrows, in her opinion, she thought that the mobile phone strategy might not be very useful for James Black, but seeing Jane so excited, she didn’t have the heart to dampen her spirits.

”Oh, when James Black and I came back, my auntie gave us a basket full of free-range eggs. How about beef tomato and egg noodles for lunch?” Jane got up from the sofa, mumbling, ”I’ll also make some tea eggs, and before I go back to the company dormitory in the afternoon, I’ll swing by the guard team to give some to Peter Gingery.”

”You two are weird.” Nina Rice stood there shaking her head repeatedly, although she was quite intrigued by the beef tomato and egg noodles Jane mentioned.

Jane Sampson’s culinary skills were quite good, but she was too lazy. Whenever Nina Rice craved something to eat, she would have to beg Jane several times before Jane would willingly cook for her.

But whenever James Black went home, Jane would definitely cook a whole table of meals, snap a photo, and share it on Moments—the food was so appetizing that it drove her entire friend circle to frenzy with likes.

Jane Sampson would warmly invite everyone to join her for a meal, but nobody in Capital Province would take her up on it, whether they were out of town or not. Those who were in town and knew that James Black was sure to be home didn’t dare to freeload a meal.

Because she was so irritated she hadn’t rested well overnight, and she had to go to the airport early in the morning, Nina Rice went back to her guest room to catch up on sleep before lunchtime.

Jane was used to being on her own, and the ingredients were readily available in the house, so she didn’t disturb Nina Rice’s rest and busied herself in the kitchen alone.

After lunch, Jane Sampson received a call from Rock Bell. Rock Bell wasn’t urging Jane to return for training but raised a different matter with her.

”Can you spare some time this evening or tonight to come out with me? It’s not far, just in the neighboring city. It’s a two-hour trip by express train, and there’s an audition opportunity tomorrow morning. I pulled some strings and secured a chance for you,” Rock Bell said. ”Although it’s just for a minor role, this drama is a big production, so landing a minor role would be a significant starting point for you.”

”I can! I can!” Jane could hardly contain her excitement, nearly dropping the spatula, ”I’ll be free after I eat lunch and pack up some stuff.”
